yeah but the one that's built in, sucks and its like 75$ out of range, additionally the ink that epison sells, im not sure if anyone tested using alternative ink inside of it. but the reviews on it are all echoing the same thing. XD

I bought the Built in one with Epson Et-2650 works like a charm, i dont know if you can fill it with other inks but should be interesting to find out.

Not that great if your using a Laser printer.

and toner is not wasted every time the printer primes itself like with ink. A toner cartridge might cost like 50 or even 100$... but it lasts thousands of prints and a long time, if you don't print very regular replacing printers and ink will very quickly be just as expensive to invest in.

Cheap laser/toner printers for small volumes are usually designed for fast office type printing and default settings are set to print on 80g/m2 matte office paper. You can use glossy or photo paper up to 300-400g/m2 in laser printers, but it depends on the specifications on the printer. And it is important to set the right paper settings or it can end up with a mess and a destroyed fuser (heating section) or bad quality. The end result depends on the laser technology, capabilities in image/paper transfer and fuser. Laser/Toner printers that are designed for extreme high image quality, is usually expensive, advanced and huge high volume cutsheet production printers for print shops. That means if you are only printing your personal images on photo-paper and not starting a print shop, stick with your cheap shitty unreliable ink printer with clogged nozzles LOL...And please use genuine toners or it can really fuck up your developers and the process control.

The cartridge block usually has plugs that can be removed, and the luer tip of a syringe pushed in, to suck ink through the tubing. On epson cartridge blocks, the ink feed hole has a luer fitting that can be used to suck ink through the tubing. Excess ink pulled into the syringe can be put back into the reservoir tank. A final option, if you don't want to mess with that end of the ciss, is to pierce the needle of a syringe through the soft refill cap, and draw air from the top of the ink reservoir. Temporarily replace the air filters with the original bungs first. This lowers the pressure in the tank, drawing ink back in through the tubing. The air then rises to the top and the tubing fills correctly. The air draw may have to be repeated a few times to achieve the desired drop in pressure. The syringe must be pulled from the plug, still full of air. The caps are self sealing. I suggest you use a waste ink tank. I use a brand called Printer Potty. The waste ink counter can be reset using the free SSC Service Utility, for many epson printers. Canon printers often have button combinations to reset the waste counter. I clean the pads on mine, as there isn't a waste ink solution available. You may already know all of this, but your comment was a good segway to mention it. ;)

I know, its crazy how you go through 2 or 3 20$ or less printers but the ink is so expensive you buy a new printer instead of replacing the ink.... seems so wastefull to me.

They're not readily available in countries were they can still get away with milking the consumer! I also believe they still don't have easily replaceable waste ink pads.

1st IJ Printer I ever bought (mid 1990's) was a HP 855c, Paid >>$425/50.oo in 2005!) For a decade or so I told anyone whom would listen, "HP does not make Crappy Printers!!!" Then they went w/ the razor & blade marketing scheme. Now ALL they make IS CRAP.. printers/'puters/etc. I haven't bought HP in Decades.. & will Not. Since post HP, have had Epson, Cannon Multiple... All CRAP. as I sit here @ this 'puter there are 3 DOA Printers (one of ea. Make, The HP was given) on my left. I just bought a canon mg2520 @ WM for " discontinued. Now ink is "$20-30 ea. cart, Looking for another cheap printer, then TOSS all 4 in the recycle bin! Other option is to find the Cheapest Lazar rep. cart (blk only) then buy that printer. Just to broke @this time> FK 'em, Feed 'em Fish Heads.

Richard Ladson hP does same thing and if you try to save money on cheaper ink, they send virus to your printer to destroy it.

Can someone teach me how I can purchase ink replacement refills for my New canon TS6220 printer? The cartridge that came with the printer gave. Me about 25 to 35 , 5×7 inch picture. I'm on my replacement cartridge And after about 30, 5×7 new pictures.its showing half level of ink used already??? Am I blind or going nuts??? Or I purchased the wrong printer and replacement all together????

***** It's just the upfront cost that scare home users away from Color Laser Jets, and the fact that in Linux which is what she uses, you have to be careful with your printer choices, so we generally stick with HP as they seem to be the best supported in Linux with the least hassles to get setup.

We did A/B comparisons of a few dozen images and printer test pages... a couple of us thought the skin tones on -one- of the images -might- look slightly better w/ from the Epson factory ink. Better as in more appealing, not necessarily more accurate. Most of the pictures were indistinguishable.

patrick norton If you haven't already done so, it would be interesting to have you cover printer profiles. I'm considering having profiles created for my epson and canon printers.

+patrick norton that is because the ink usually included with a ciss is dye ink epson uses pigment ink for their durabrite line of ink cartridges which stays on the surface of the paper instead of seeping into the paper which is why when you print documents with a ciss and standard dye ink you will have ink bleeding through the page unless you do ink density adjustments. you wouldn't need to deal with ink adjustments before printing if you buy pigment ink. and just so you know if you keep using dye ink you won't be able to print on matte photo paper or it will smudge.

Really you want them to do the right thing while speaking a curse to "damn" it. Mindless sheep who use such phrases.

Sounds like things have gotten better since you tried it. The instructions were -very- explicit about how/where to position the ink so you wouldn't have problems. In my two year old epson the cartridges don't move w/ the print head, so the tubes from the ink reservoir don't move. (For printers that move the cartridges w/ the print head, yeah, I can see that wearing on the mechanism.)

On the Epson printers this fits in, the ink cartridges don't move w/ the print head. They feed twee little tubes that run to the print head. So the tubes from the Gigablock reservoir don't get tugged on!

patrick norton My Epson looks very similar to the one in the video, only a little taller which is most likely because the ink moves with the print heads. I saw a few videos of people installing CISs into my printer and wasn't to thrilled about the tubes having to "float" with the print heads.This video got me so interested in the savings, though, that I ended up looking at refillable cartridges. I returned a $60 4 pack of Epson ink for a PrintPayLess kit that came with 100m bottles of each color for only $25. You've already saved me $35! Thats not even mentioning the cost to replace the black ink cartridge I've already gone through and the countless refills I have left. This seems so simple a thing to have looked into in the past but I never even considered it. Thank you for bringing it to light for me!!

patrick norton I've put a ciss on my epson printer, but I refill my canon printer. Although you can buy ciss for my canon printer, I've been discouraged so far by some reports of ink feed issues. Have you covered waste ink absorber pads, and their diabolical counters? I use a "printer potty" waste ink tank on my epson. I've just cleaned the pads on my canon. My old canon comes apart very easily, when you know how!
