Throwing this into the online as another example of Mixam's zine/stapled booklet printing (mixam.ca). Going to try reporting the issues and document that process as well.

I'm starting work on a zine to print with Mixam, designing in InDesign. Can you talk about if you did anything different for the cover pages? Where did you put those in the page order?

That's exciting, congrats! More details are here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3_bpmjk_uLA.html I didn't do anything different for the cover pages, and made them the same paper weight. Page order, just standard order (front cover = page 1, back cover = last page). Might be different for other platforms, but this was for Mixam and you can preview the page order after you upload the PDF too.

Hi. Very nice video. Did you follow their guidelines and left 0.13" bleed area on all 4 sides for each page?
