I've been sitting on this one for quite a while. The work on the PrintNC build is going much more slowly than I'd prefer. This is primarily due to other obligations that are taking precedence. I also lack the patience to simultaneously deal with the issues involving videography and the vagaries that is the PrintNC build process itself.

Im doing the dry fit up on my V4 right now, roughly at the same point this video starts. The V4 wiki is still a mess. The order of operations makes no sense for preparing the steel and assembly either. I found myself drilling holes i didn't need as well because the drill guides and instructions are still vague.

Boy, you've really got your hands full there, Gene. How you have the patience for all that scanning boggles me. I won't mention the F15 because I'm nice like that. Hope the new job is settling in well. Don't over stretch yourself.

If you need help about all that old computer hardware, ask for it on the internet ;O)

Thanks for the great set of videos. I'm thinking of building a Printnc as well. I have a question, in the kit that you purchased who were the manufacturers of the VFD and Spindle on my quote it did not specify? I've been told that the VFD was from Huanyang. The Spindle? Thanks again for the videos.

I would ask on the PrintNC Discord - I think the VFD (and possibly Spindle) vendor has changed since I bought my parts kit.

Hello, great series. It's really helped with getting to know the process. How did you get the document in order to print out your own instruction manual? Thanks again!

Thanks. I printed the wiki and then coil bound it myself. :)

@@f15sim perfect, that's what I thought! Even though I'm from the younger generation (39) I still love a good paper manual that I can get dirty!

How did you source the aluminum angle?
@f15sim
@f15sim Год назад
I ordered it from onlinemetals.com. The 6061-T52 angle they stock has a sharp inside corner, which is what you need. I paid $10.34 for a 12" long 2"x3" angle (0.125" thick)

So when building this what is it best to go by? The wiki or the BOM?
@f15sim
@f15sim Год назад
The wiki is going to call out fasteners that can differ in either head type or length. It's my understanding that the designer "streamlined" all the fasteners called out by the tool on the website, but couldn't be bothered to update the wiki or the Fusion 360 model. If you want to source all the fasteners yourself, I would recommend you open the Fusion 360 model and suppress all the non-fastener parts and then start identifying the types & sizes you need. I'd then go through the wiki and make notes on where the Fusion 360 model differs from what you find there. When in doubt, the Fusion 360 model callouts should take precedence. boltdepot.com can supply all the metric hardware for a lot less than you can get it at the local hardware store (assuming you're in the US). Good luck!
