20:48-21:41 Yeah, it's amazing because it's the biggest channels with the hugest followings and their self proclaimed "mastery" of the industry that portray to know it all and yet they put out a lot of misleading information. Take Esoteric for example, I once argued in one of his videos where he had said all you need to do to apply a ceramic coating is to wash the car, decon the pain with your chemicals and with the clay, IPA to "remove old waxes and sealants" (which we all know IPA doesn't do, it just removes residual polishing oils) and your car was now ready to coat. I told him that that was wrong, and that you needed to at least go over it with a finishing polish to really get the paint bare and get that ceramic coating to truly bond the best and perform as well as it can as well as last as long as possible. He said that I was wrong, to which I replied well what about if the vehicle had Soft99 Fusso applied to the paint (a PTFE based sealant), would I be able to just get away with the steps and the ceramic would bond just fine? To which he replied "I don't know, I'm not familiar with that product" or something along those lines, which just proved my point!! You never know what the car your customer is giving you has on the surface, and the only way to truly get it bare and ready for a coating is to give it a good polish, EVEN IF THE CAR HAS ZERO IMPERFECTIONS. You don't have to put a microfiber cutting pad and use your coarsest compound, you can literally just put a fine polishing/finishing pad on your machine and give it a good buzz over with something like sonax perfect finish. Then you can proceed to IPA and install whatever you want, whether that's a high end professional installer only coating or a spray wax. Truth is, these people are in the market of selling you products, not teaching you how detailing actually works best. Could you follow Esoteric's instructions and get away with it? Of course you could. Would it perform and last the same as if you did the prep work (including polishing!) correctly? Nope, not a chance. It's very few people who are actually transparent and let you know the truth, such as obviously Jim from white details, Waxmode (love his channel), and Sandro from Car Craft Auto Detailing. There are a few more but those are my top 3 because they've been extremely transparent from the start and those are my 3 favorites. Waxmode for the eye candy, White Details for the JAW DROPPING, world class detailing (the industry standard IMO) and hands down THE best production in the industry. Seriously, Jim, your editing and videography are TOP NOTCH and not "just for a detailing channel", I mean for anybody. Sandro is also in my top 3 because I also find that his work is world class and his production is also done to a very high standard. They both have their own styles, Sandro is a bit more on the educational side with lots of narration. Anyway, Jim and Sandro are definitely two of the best detailers on the face of the planet, and neither of them are self proclaimed "I'm the industry standard, I know what I'm talking about and you don't" snobs. They're down to earth and willing to share HONEST and accurate information. Rant over, had to get it off my chest. Your content always blows my mind, Jim, I'm gonna go ahead and say that you're #1, I'd put you up against anyone in the industry.
Totally agree. Sandro and Jim are my favourites too and its just a joy to watch them, which rarely happens when the videos are so long! I'd like to also add Larry from AMMONYC, but he is a bit niche imo and not that informative as Jim and Sandro.
Jim, you are a detailer in every sense of the word! From washing to prepping to paint correction to polishing to toothpickery to paint protection. You are one of the best! Cheers from Canada.
Is it just me or does the porsche paints respond really well to the corrections!! They always look amazing after Jim works his magic. I like the honesty of the wheel nuts, not that the average Joe would notice such tiny details. Perfect result as always and a pleasure to watch a master craftsman at work. 👍👍
Blown away, agreed, this was the perfect colour to detail as this came out very well on my phone's screen. Thanks for talking about the skewers- I was one of the people to ask on the last detail- also I guess, being wooden, the other end could be sanded into a shape thats required to get into a certain troublesome area? Older vehicles being detailed not only reminds me of my youth but the transformation is much more transformative (couldn't think of another word). Green, purple, and other mid dark/ light colours would do very well and would pick up on camera. You actually have my dream enhancement studio, I love how its set up- beautiful. Thanks again.
Thanks Jim!! Ive watched this sat in my camper van in Scotland watching the rain just bead off my van , the wife thinks I’m weird ! They just don’t understand . Thanks for the eye candy!
It isn't easy being one of the best at what you do and always doing it the right way. It's also draining and you lose a part of yourself on every job, as you well know. Hence the exhaustion and frequent burn outs.
The structure of the paint looks similar to the paint my BMW E28 M535i looked like when I bought it. I‘ve wet sanded the whole car and the paint improved so much I couldn’t be happier. There is a video of the whole Detailing on my channel of it. However, of course this was my own car. It took veeeery long. 😂
I just spend 30 hours of detailing over the weekend ... I feel you when you when you tell us you are taking to long. Don't worry, it will pay off in the future :) You are a true inspiration. Thanks for sharing your insignts, I always learn something new watching your vids. Keep it up Jim!
Great to see the Master detailing another car. Jim you are definitely on another level when narrating and educating us with how a paint finish can look and preserve.
I'm speechless! I gained new respect for detailers. I believe that cars should not be the recipient of such care and passion; nonetheless, I admire this guy dedication and persistence.
After watching some of your videos and taking note of your techniques for edge work, residue control etc.. I noticed my last polishing job had much better results than prior when I wasn’t using some of your techniques.
Absolutely mesmerizing to watch a true and meticulous artist at work! I've never seen such amazing paint correction. Although it still looks fresh, I wish I could ship my 27K mile 2002 Boxster S over to the UK to have it done, LOL! Fantastic work and videos, Jim!
Awesome video Jim! 😎 Great results from a minor paint correction! I enjoyed the wheel hub refurbishments; I bet all four took a few hours alone. I know which video you mean. He also uses an LHR21 so given the additional throw compared to the 15 he won’t be able to get anywhere near the edges. Another few mm and the backing plate would have hit the panel edge. Awesome work dude 👍🏼
I could absolutely watch you work your magic all day long Jim. I love to clean my cars and am quite OCD about it too, but nothing like you of course. Keep them coming my friend.
Is that who blew the pad up? I like Larry but I never learn anything I care about so I don't watch his videos religiously anymore. But yeah, he loves his 6" pads, rarely see him use anything else on camera.
@@ntartaris Yeah I like Sandro alot. But alot of the stuff he uses I can't get in the US. I've been doing paint correction professionally for a decade so I'm not really watching for how tos or anything. I mainly watch for honest and unbiased looks at all the new hotness products and gear. Jim @ White Details is another one I respect alot for his work.
I had the exact reaction you had to video which you mention - I found it a bit out of character really. Since I’m no professional detailer I was too uncomfortable questioning it. As always your videos are gems and I very much appreciate your time and effort.
Jim... you are amazing mate!!🙂 The amount of hard work and effort you put into your work is truly inspiring!!!👍... It makes me wish I had a supercar to book in for you to get The Full White Detail!!! Keep up the great work!! Love watching your videos!!!👍🙂
Top work Jim, as always another absolute masterclass.. The difference really is in the details.. Seriously the best in the business.. I watch a lot of the online detailers & there is no one better.. 👌🏻
Class video again, it's mesmerising watching you work, you're eye for detail is outstanding. However if you really want a challenge I've got a 13 year old Honda CRV that's had a bloody hard life, gun dogs in the back and plenty of dead game. Could definitely do with your full gold package 🤣
Just remember!!! When he hits 100K subs he's going to give away a detail... So get everyone you can to come to the channel and subscribe!!! I really want to see him hit 100K!!!
This is the exact video I needed to see to get my newly acquired Sebring convertible to its best Shape with only 30k miles. Thx 🙏. Although this car has a better resemblance of my MK1 TT. ☕️ to you.
