Here is the continuation of the last video. On this episode, we departed Orange County Airport using the prescribed noise abatement procedure for the Gulfstream G-IV and flew right over Los Angeles International Airport going to Van Nuys. I got some footage from a fan who happened to be flying in the area as we flew right under him!

Glad to see that you didn’t and I can only suspect that no pilot would “align the aircraft on the runway as close to the DEPARTURE end as feasible “ as stated under Takeoff, #2, line two. I mean, we all like a challenge, but that’s ridiculous.

Great vlog as always! As your copilot stated when it was a just static on the radio; I hope it was nothing important. I guess that is the same thing the copilot of Pan Am was thinking when they were taxiing on the active rwy at TCI in march 77 while KLM was on the t/o roll on the same rwy in the fog... The rest is history, as we know.

Did you try Tommy’s Chili Cheese Burgers next to Van Nuys Airport yet? Next time take a Uber it about 1/2 mile from the Airport on Roscoe. originaltommys.com. You have to try the place at least once when you come to Van Nuys to see if you like them. Orange County Airport is the airport Harrison Ford landed his plane on the taxiway.

So Shaun; what are the Covid rules on your airplanes? Obviously you aren’t six feet from your co pilot, and you’re not wearing masks. Are you required to be tested before and after each flight? Do your passengers have to wear masks? Also, you made a comment at the beginning about catching the video of the flight out to John Wayne. The last video I have was a month ago, when you were in your office. Thanks for this video; it was great.

Great videos!! I’m not a pilot so some of the things you say over the radio are confusing to the non-pilot. If you have a chance during the videos to explain some of the communication language that would be awesome!!!! I’m sure there are others like me who love planes, but don’t have very much knowledge of the terminology of flying. It would be greatly appreciated.

Have been on a departing and arriving Delta 757 many times into John Wayne when I lived in Irvine. Always a fun take off and landing, sits on brakes revs the engines closet thing to a rocket Tak off one can experience. Landing is a very quick stop. Runway will never be extended Newport Beach folks are wealthy and vocal.

God Bless you flying. Hehe, yes, our flights going out of OC John Wayne Airport is special. We always say at the begining of the runway and we powered up while the Captain held the brakes and then we would take off. Our biggest aircraft has been our 757-200 that we have been there at John Wayne Airport. The Captain always made the announcement s to the passenger. But mostly We fly the Airbus 320 there. Thanks.

Why does Gus start the takeoff roll with his hand on the yoke and you are on the tiller until 80 knots? Shouldn't this be standardized?

Nice familiar airport there in Santa Ana/John Wayne! Love that fun take off but it scare the heck out of my wife! Grew up nearby in Costa Mesa. Many memories watching that field grow from a small GA to a hub for that area.

Oh my, that brought back memories from long ago --- departing John Wayne (Orange County in those days) in Air Cal 737-200s and we briefed the passengers on the noise abatement procedures as it was quite an experience for them with the step climb then power reduction and level off.

EPR= Engine Pressure Ratio or the total pressure at the engine outlet divided by the total pressure at the compressor inlet. It's a method of setting the power output of the engine(s). The lower the EPR, the less noise. It's been so long that I had to look it up to get it right.

This question may have been answered long ago but I’m curious why you never flew left seat at Presidential Aviation? I’m sure you were PIC qualified at the time but it just baffles me that you at least didn’t alternate legs at the last company...maybe advancement opportunities were slim thus the change?

I did fly as PIC from time to time at Presidential, but the reason for staying in our seats was that Jon did not like to seat swap.
