As a beginner it’s better to do private lessons so you can practice good habits with group trainings. Sometimes an instructor may overlook a mistake or bad habit in a group because of too many fighters in the group. The instructor gotta constantly look left and right front and back.

I was never ashamed to train or spar in front of others, but unfortunately I'm a guy who wants to impress others therefore whenever there was hard training or hard sparring i would literally give my life out there to impress coach, and friends, and that resulted in many injuries, and forced me out of the sport, bc i surgeries costs way too much, and the way i trained i felt i could fuck up more, my opinion is train a couple of months private, to properly learn techniques, and get used to proper training by coach, and then go group training, bc as much private you can do, group training is more necessary i think, respect from Albania

Many fighters have fallen victim to improper training methods, including myself. Overtaining and oversparring (just invented the word :) ) are real. For fighters, the goal is the competition, not proving themselves in training. A lot of bad things can happen when sparring with hard punches. Brain damage is just one of them.

I just started Muay thai this week, and so far as much as Im enjoying the lessons and just had my second group session today, I noticed there were some odd moments training with partners as I kept messing up on holding pads and the instructor was kinda putting in too many combos too quickly that most of the members around us were pausing to double check with the coach helping one person. Not to say that specific instructor is a bad at teaching as she's actually a fighter herself. That moment I believe I need some time to have private lessons one on one with someone in order to actually master the basics well and not get too carried away created bad habits.

Wow i love you coach! You're a wise one - i like your videos and your style to describe things .... Look i was kickboxer with a 5% commitment yes five percent only it's for two years, now i'm 24 of old ... Last three months i start to take my 3 privet classes daily + the morning training alone.. i was so busy before in all my life i want to be a world champion in mma .. but my life was very hard i regret nothing i was in a big hope and i know what i want sense i was a child, last to weeks i start to train with international mma fighters i faced some problems in the beginning of the sparring and the drilling but now i'm better faster stronger than them all !!!! Believe me ... i can work on mitts without take a minute of rest for 1 hour with high load power and speed .. My head coach is a veteran he was a trainer in military and he has no mercy in training no one continues private class with him i'm the only one he's really proud of me .. now he takes 0 cost for my private classes he believes soon i'm gonna be what we think .. yes I can destroy any one in sparring.. soon i'm going to America and am going to take my first amateur mma fight .. The meaning in this story that you can complete a big road in a short time but you need full commitment you need a lot of money and a lot of knowledge because of your nutrition and your supplementation your sleep your training spaces and you have to take the right trainers it's a 100 day coach to change me 180 degree... In the end : my head coach always say :it's not me it's all because of your will .. it's because you want to be ... It's you .. but you have to complete.. don't stop... nowadays i train 3 times a day. It's a lot of speech but i want to push... i am on it.

Interesting. Another factor is the gym. A lot of gyms whether private or group, 60 % to 70% of the time they dont teach the "art". You end up doing "exercise" which means they make you do burpees, push up and etc. Meanwhile you ask where is the muay thai? The bjj? The boxing. They answer with "If you are not fit, you cant fight". So there goes your money.

Yes, I've seen gyms doing that - compensating the lack of training methodology with conditioning exercises. A good gym will incorporate both properly.

A mix of both is good

For sure.

I wanna do both, I’m only paying for a gym and attending all classes, but I wanna a personal coach who can do privates and corner me, but I don’t have money for that unfortunately

Private better training

First two years train only kickboxing and bjj 6 days a week 1 session each plus 3 times a week of strength training. And don't spar and start from there... eto
@MMACoach79
@MMACoach79 5 лет назад
This will not be realistic for most people since 9 sessions per week will be too much for the vast majority. I have my private students start sparring with me quite quickly. My newest student started training a month ago, we've done only boxing so far and last training he sparred with me for the first time. A very easy sparring, no hard punches and the point is to start using in sparring contrxt what he's been learning on pads and bags. Some people think that sparring must be a brutal all-out exertion. Not at all. I might do a video about it in the future...

I really like your videos alot and I've been watching you alot recently but I have a question I am 15 years old I've been training MMA for about 1 month now 4 times a week and I want to become a pro one day but the problem is even though I am training I don't feel like I am training enough I want to train much more than this but I have school homeworks they are preventing me from training more what should I do
@MMACoach79
@MMACoach79 5 лет назад
Train as much as you can without compromising school. What if you don't become a pro one day and you neglect school? You need education so can have a good job afterwards (even though in this day and age, that is possible without a college degree). However, it will still be beneficial for you to go to college.
