As a bilingual American-Indian, my accent changes depending on who im talking to. It's called code switching and it's very common among people who speak more than one languages fluently.

Hating on her accent is just a lame excuse for hating on her. It gives a lot of people self validation because these people are deep down intimidated by her success. To accept that this woman has become so successful is going to hurt their ego. Its very similar to saying Aishwarya Rai is "not pretty enough". You know its not true. But people will still say that to show off their supposedly "higher" taste. A different way of saying "grapes are sour".

I can understand ... That having an accent in India is really a topic of bullying. As a North Indian can totally relate with it coz I do HV it. For me hindi and English are on same scale. Bcoz I'd never spoke English or Hindi in my school, college time . I used to speak in my local dialect which is haryanvi nd now i watch alot of english movie nd now i speak like them bcoz u learn, speak what u hear ND I never heard anyone speaking English around me so that's y I don't HV that typical Indian accent ND whenever I try to speak like that( Indian accent) it becomes so hard for me because I couldn't emphasize on every single alphabet. 🤷🤷

whenever i talk to my indian friends, i always change my accent to fit in (cuz i used to get a lot of weird stares before) and also so they can understand me better. I have more of an american accent while talking to my other friends. In all honesty, I feel comfortable in my american accent and rather fumble sometimes in my other one but I just do what I gotta do. And this comes to me very naturally now to the point I feel awkward to even try and speak in my regular accent in front of my indian friends. People need to stop coming at Priyanka and just appreciate the smart and confident person that she is.

If I were there, I would have changed my accent as well....coming from a person who herself has a great interest in accents (especially Australian and British). It's just a self indulgence in the atmosphere surrounding you with the adjustment of your accent accordingly hence, it's fine. Not that I ain't proud of my indian one 🤷‍♀️
