I was wrong, this video is as objective as it gets. I should've had more trust in Madox. I find it a very smart move that he didn't make his own top 8 considering the lack of clarity as to the aim of the event. All of my respect goes to you Madox.
@@Blaze72sH yeah but I think that is kind of a given. If for example judges looked for only technicality or something like that it would be obvious in their judging. The issue is like chezame said, judging beatboxing will always be subjective because there is no quantitative value to how good a beatbox is.
I like how professional beatboxers like madox, alem, and zer0 react differently to dlow being no.1 compared to the fans ranting that dlow did not deserve no.1 without analyzing everything 🥱
@@arlunej.aanderaa1405 Idk, Maybe he is self conscious about his eyes? or he might even have some kind of over sensitivity in his eyes. I strongly doubt that he is using them for no real reason
24:11 DUDE THAT FLASH EFFECT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME, I'M WATCHING THIS DURING A STORM AND THAT THING FLASHES MY ENTIRE SCREEN RIGHT WHEN I TURNED MY HEAD OVER TO THE WINDOW OMG
But two.h has some simple groove and flow, meanwhile dilip's wildcard has difficult flow or unclean flow I think he needs practice for flow and structure
I would like a video of you breaking down the categories of how one would judge, like what structure means. And what category the most weight when judging, etc.
It's quite simple.. I watch Dilip to make me go "WOW!!" I watch D-Low to make me go "YEAH!!" As an event holder I'd want my crowd screaming "YYYEEEEAAAHHHH !!!!
The best part of this video for me was towards the end, when he suggested that there should be DIFFERENT events for muscality/songwriting and energy based performances. It is really difficult to judge 2 different genres of music. How are you supposed to judge between Dudz and B-Art? It depends on what the aim of the event is, and if the aim is energy, then musicality is left out and vice-versa. Hence it makes sense to differentiate the events based on type of beatboxing as beatboxers have developed increasingly unique styles. Big ups to you for another video which will go a long way in improving the beatbox scene as a whole.
According to what you say at the end I can really see something like this for SBX events : - GBB for pure battling, like we know it nowadays. - SBX camp for originality, feels good with the goal of teach things to newcomers in high level, maybe with a showcase competition. Also I think this could be a test lab to experiment things for other types of competition. - Kickback battle for songwriting and composition, the great spaces of time between rounds allow contestants to prepare real songs to perform in a video. Well that's just some ideas I throw in the comments I really want to have your opinion on this.
Dude i think it was one of the best drops ever. I dont even get what is unclean what is low energy. This "analysis" thing is not really working for me. He didnt even mention the details of it. Bias maybe
Dilip has so much reverb its bouncing all round his room and creating delays and timing issues that wouldnt have hurt so much if he had a less hollow room lol Maybe his timing would have been better in a quiet room.
BRUH, 4 months ago i didnt even kno what beatbox was. Then I found madox's videos and now i cant live without watching a beatbox video once a day respect madox. Also is B-ART beatboxing in a basement???!?! 19:32
I hate that we aren't getting a list from Madox, but it's honestly the right call. Others released their own top 8 and it just made people argue more. Good on you man!
Madox: quick and easy also Madox: makes a 37:36 minutes long video where he doesn't release a top 8 himself, because he doesn't know on what to gudge. Me: confusion 100
The main aim of beatbox is nothing but vibe like you listen to your favourite music and suddenly you listen a heavy drop you will feel energised and vibes flow in your body if we classify the beatbox as vibe then low energy can make people vibe ,high energy can make people vibe every drop every beat spreading positive vibe and Good life :)
IDK who needs to hear this but Pira has been doing inward bass with liproll quite often ..even in swissbeatbox showcases and asia beatbox champs too . If someone says its original by D-low then i feel bad because Pira has been doing the same but better and harder than D-low since long time ,and he deserves the credit .there's no originality in that part
I think that Dudz wildcard is the weakest in the list and the ending was so unclean that it doesn't deserve top 8 and should be replaced by Zero. But dlow being number one I never objected to. I honestly wouldn't object to either elisii, bart, or zekka being number one either. Those 4 were so good in their own different way that there's no particular order I could put them.
Why people need to think on the videos how it will sound on a micro? Guys you are judging a video not thinking on the stage... You judge just the moment of the video... Its unfair to think how it will sound on the stage... That's my opinion... It exist many sounds who doest sound good on the mic or its hard to make them loud enough but they are sick on wildcards...
Madox,i have some reccomend...can u analysis about a beatboxer and he called Daichi beatbox?he is a japanese beatboxer...he have amazing throat bass...trust me...please madox...
Thank you Madox for this great video! making categories in beatbox in battles makes me think a lot about what happened to breakdance! In the beginning, the 'standing' style and the 'ground' style were together in battles, now we have "powermoves" "top rock / popping / locking etc etc" and also the all styles battles where the dancer does not choose the music to which he has to dance and improvise at best with his knowledge. It's very interesting to see how the beatbox and its community has grown so fast over the past few years, I love it so much! Why not “technical only battles”? "musicality only battles "? that would be nice to hear but it shouldn't be the main rule, could also be a random constraint imposed at the start of the battle? (Sing / inward bass / Fast Tech etc) that would be great to hear . I agree 100% that the judges must give clear guidelines so that the beatboxers can properly prepare their wildcards, much love ESH
I don’t agree with that idea, if you make competitions for every style of beatbo then it would get boring. Imagine listening to only one style for hours, it would have no variety and sound all pretty much the same.
I'm a major D Low fan and have been for a long time and I still am. I hope he wins again this year and becomes a 2 time champ but Unpopular opinion #1: I do not believe that he was the best wildcard. Solid 3rd place in my opinion Unpopular opinion #2: I... don't think Zero was better than Dilip... don't get me wrong Zero is a beast but I feel like Dilip was better Unpopular opinion #3: While Dudz's routine was amazing, I don't see how he will cope in a battle with these guys, judges will most probably judge them by 2 different criteria which I'm not sure is fair to either party... (Also I support Madox for not giving his top 8, there's no need to add any further fuel to the fire) Sorry for the rant! 🙏 what's your opinion?
I have a theory: Dilip had a clean and proper wildcard last time which D-low bet his nose on. But he had already shown like 70% of it on stage earlier. He didn't qualify. The judges probably wanted to see something new. So he went full on experimental this time. Got his qualification.
Bro, love your analysis. Thank you for your honesty and trying to help improve the community. Appreciate your ideas to clear up the confusion for some of the competitions and how they’re judged.
Btw Madox, inward base + inward lip roll is not something new or original, Piratheeban did it on his GBB 2018 Wildcard rutine. The texture of D-low's is different (since his inward base is different as well from Pira's) but the idea is not new. I am making a point here not hating on D-low or anything he is a beast and one of my fav beatboxers.
Experimental is the perfect word for most of these, it really seems like every one had a bit too much time with covid and are trying new things. Which in the long run will be great, but the learning curve will be a rough until they’ve perfected
To all the haters out there.... Just wanted to tell that these people have a way more experience in judging than us... Moreover, in such large scale competitions, satisfying every single person isn't as such possible... Love how Madox is the one who provides us with all this insight to reduce conflict.
I think you should watch D-Koy's instagram video on who should qualify as a "propper judge", he makes great points. Also as far as I know Madox wasn't judging wildcards for Kickback. It was Pepouni, Sinjo and Fredy Beats
dude I really liked your analysis! You are amazing giving your opinion because you search all the possibilities and the way the other people think to give your opinion. I really like your opinions because they are constructives and I believe that if you continue doing videos like this or the past ones which you have, you`ll go far in life and get so many subs! Keep up #madox100k
Although dlow’s wildcard sounded very simple, as Madox said, the complex, structure, and execution were all pretty much perfect. The unique sounds and rhythms also were really good.
