We have carnival in Nigeria too- the most famous is the Calabar carnival in Cross River State, Southern Nigeria that holds in December each year- it's termed the biggest street party in Africa and draws participants and tourists from around the world....

Carnival is primarily an African tradition brought south american by black slaves. I gain a lot popularity in those countries to the point the it became highly celebrated national events. Notice that you only see carnival where there is black people. That said there was an elevation of carnival South America countries such as Brazil.
