It was so awesome to see Brad try out a couple of my tutorials on his channel! I often get comments comparing myself with Brad and Guy Tang. It’s interesting because I don’t think that happens as much with other beauty RU-vidrs such as makeup artists. I think this is because the pool of hair artists on RU-vid is a lot smaller, and pro hair artists who show creative color are even fewer! One thing that’s important to keep in mind is that all hairstylists specialize In differing degrees in different areas of the art of hair. Some specialize in curly hair, some specialize in barbering, some specialize in special occasion styles, or cutting, or natural color, etc etc. The cool thing about the world of hair is that it offers so many little subcategories to satisfy a number of different passions, which is what makes it a great career path for creative/artistic individuals! That being said it’s hard to compare one stylist to another because one may have dedicated themselves more to one particular avenue of the hair industry whereas another may commit to something else! I know it’s tempting to make comparisons but I always encourage people to observe the merits of the efforts put forth by the person trying a new technique rather than comparing their work to existing work. Sorry for the long winded comment, when I first shared that Brad tried the inverted color challenge there were a lot of comments comparing the finished products and I just want to gently remind everyone that that is not the point of artistic efforts because two different artists will always produce different products! I love you guys and I know where you are all coming from but one of my main goals with my channel is to have hair be looked at as a valid form of art and I want to try my best to use my platform to respect other artists in every part of their journey! I hope you guys enjoyed the video ♥️
Watching this and reading your comment honestly made me want to try this technique on my own hair. I think it would be interesting to see how it works on my short hair, but I’m not sure if I could do that on my own head. If you have any tips for dying your own hair, that would be amazing.
Christine is taking a break from RU-vid for awhile so don't think that will happen. If it does, don't expect to hear a y thing for awhile. Sounds like she's really just burnt out and needs time away.
Wow... speechless, you’re one of the kindest, truest, persons on youtube, and even in society in general. For you to say don’t compare, is making the art industry and even the workforce thrive, and also gives a good example on how to treat others in your day to day life. Keep being you Mrs. Ford!
Thank you for being you. You are so kind, honest, and genuine. You find a way to always lift up someone instead of finding fault. Again, just so nice and refreshing, (I want myself dead for that). You are very kind to folks.🌈🌈✌
Sarah C. The only thing we need to finish this circle is for Jenna to try their hair tutorials so brad can react to that And for Cristine to try holo hair.
Yassss girl we need you to review his products!!! I want to try his gliteratie but haven’t been able to find a non biased person give the ins and out and what they honestly think of it!!! Please please please test his product line!!
What a fun video! And really, love how both of you were so genuinely kind and supportive and encouraging towards each other as fellow human beings and as artists! It'd be a massive understatement to say that the world could undoubtedly be a better place if more people treated themselves and others with the kind of mutual uplifting love and respect than you guys demonstrate in this video!!! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to meet with you again in a few weeks and have you work your creativity magic and skills on my hair and turn it into a (much needed!) seriously badass, colorful masterpiece that I'll get to show off to the world! I'm just *SOOOOOO* excited!!! All sorts of love and respect for you, and everything you do and work so hard to create and perfect! -Amanda
You are so so lucky! I would kill to be close enough to her to have her do my hair. I've always imagined a smoldering orange/red cut long shag style and no one can bring my vision to life even remotely. ): I also would just love to see a professional colorist and tell them to have fun, go wild, I don't care, it's just hair!
I love your channel, my mother was a hair dresser and an amazing colorist for most of my childhood. She didn't do a lot of wild color but was amazing at fixing peoples home hair color or bleach disasters, she could bring peoples hair back from anything! also did a lot of blue hair..... not even sure if that's a thing anymore. she also taught and i spent many of hours in the chair after she let my hair grow out so she could show 2 or 3 different length boy hair styles. Watching videos about hair takes me to a fond place in my childhood. Thank you for all of your hard work.
I appreciate your constructive criticism. When the shit went bad with Mondo, instead of telling viewers how bad he did, you explain alternatives and possibilities as to why it might have went awry. Kudos lady
Hey Caitlin!! I’m a hairdresser and I’m absolutely loving all these videos and tutorials you’re bringing out. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial showing the different effects of over directing hair to get different patterns in the hair. I love my vivid work and do a lot of melts but I want to try these techniques and my brain cant imagine how they colour will look depending on placement. Happy new year!! Cant wait to see more vids this year!
“if i look a little bit more busted..” GIRL I COULD GENUINELY NOT TELL A DIFFERENCE OMG IT LOOKS LIKE YOU JUST CUT OUT 5 SECONDS. kudos to you for always managing to look stunning 👏🏼💘
I actually found you after Brad tried your Holo hair tutorial... I've been a rainbow head since 2012ish... I think my hairdresser would like me to stop watching you... BUT NO!!!! WE HAVE A PLAN FOR A HOLO PANEL IN THE NEAR FUTURE ... THANKS SO MUCH FOR CLEAR VIDEOS THAT NOT ONLY INSPIRE BUT EDUCATE...
I love brad he's so sweet!!! 💜💜💜 He makes coloring look so easy, I love how you guys can easily get along in the hair community on RU-vid. So many people focus on getting views and being better than another person. Spread the love and stick together beautiful rainbow heads! 🦄
I didn’t realize how mesmerizing you are until you put the raw charisma of Brad Mondo on the screen, and I’m still entirely focused on you. Also, I am entirely in love with your rainbow bangs, and that love only grows each time I see your hair!
I adore Brad and saw both of those videos but didnt know who he was talking about. You popped up in my recommendations today so this makes me excited! New Sub!
I absolutely love your jacket! Anyways, Brad is amazing!, I'm not a hair stylist or really do too much with my own hair but his animated personality is just so much fun and it always makes me smile :) I actually found you from him because once he did the holo color I searched it and found your tutorial for your rainbow bangs and got hooked from there :)
Beanie Leung despite what you tubers you like or don’t like, he is talented and even so I’m sure she wouldn’t appreciate the hate of another you tuber in her comments
@@judgejudy5103 see the thing is, i dont think brad is as talented as he makes himself out to be. He became famous by reacting to hair videos, especially bleaching videos, and he always tore them apart. But when it comes down to brad actually colouring hair he's not that great. He even ruined Snitchery's hair by over processing it. The one thing I'll give him is that i think he does a nice job styling hair, but that's it.
@@beanieleung9623 I don't particularly fangirl over Brad, but have you watched his makeover series? Because he does an amazing job on these girls with messed up hair. Sure, what happened with Snitchery was bad, but it was a mistake, doesn't mean he's not talented..
@NAD SNATCHER I've seen the trouble and I haven't heard his side yet so I don't want to form an opinion because it could be the company also... Companys sometimes use people like him and he is probably legally made to hush hush about it till the whole situation is completely delt with. And all hairdressers including myself have made mistakes . His just happen to be filmed.
Yesss I've been waiting for those video! I'm a cosmetology school and still learning the basics but to see the potentinal beautiful color trends is amazing and something I need to try! Love u💕
You should do a tutorial on rainbow hair but on a buzz cut/ shaved head. I am someone who has a buzz cut and I have been dying my hair and would love to see you do something like that. !!!
I find you before Brad did the videos about you and i have to say it's so sweet that you two started communication cause as Brad said hair community is not so big as makeup one is. And also this videos are so fun to watch.
It's great to hear all your tips! I dont know if I'll ever try creating these hair colors myself but I love learning about how it all works! I'm glad you're excited to share your knowledge with the wirld, it really feels fun to watch your videos with all of your enthusiasm on the subject.
Caitlin I'm a MAJOR BRAD MONDO FAN and after watching his videos on you, I'm now a CATLIN FORD fan. You do amazing work! Your Hollow Hair was GROUND BREAKING GORGEOUS!! Love you both XOXO
Oh girl I want you to do my hair soooooo bad. I have a pixie cut and I would let you color it how ever you wanted no hold backs. You are so creative and I love it.
I started watching with your James Charles casting call and I’m so excited to be a part of your journey no watch you grow! You have a beautiful personality and so much passion and drive and it’s so fun to watch and inspiring
I love your videos, I find you through your story time video and have been watching ever since! Your so talented and I love your down to earth personality.
Amen! Love you both so much! I am Not a hair person; much past brushing, shampooing, and conditioning, I’ve got nothing; but I love watching and listening to you guys, and though I could never do it myself, I Do learn and it’s so cool!
wow, I've followed you for a year or two on instagram and I only now found out that you have a yt channel. guess I'll spend the next couple of days binging your videos
As a hair stylist himself, who also works with colour, surely he would understand placement already? So even if you filmed it upside down or back to front or from behind a wall, he should be able to conceptualise the placement without it being shown to him. Seems weird to me that he couldn't figure it out for himself.
Well hair colorists can also specialize in certain areas/tecniques like maybe blondes/platinums, balayage, color melts, etc. So that's probably why he stuggled a bit with it. That happens with a lot of hairstylists. I've seen hairstylists be super good at certain hair colors but can't do an even platinum.
@@maggieperez1179 I get struggling with the specifics of the style, but I was talking about the placement in relation to the hairline, which surely is the same regardless of the specific colouring technique? I think it was something like it not being close enough to the parting or something, honestly it's been over a week I don't have that great memory. But it was the kind of thing that you would expect to be universal for colouring, the first placement so that it falls properly when the hair is styled. Like once you move down the shaft and start alternating the colours some confusion could be forgiven, but the initial placement is something that would be the same whether you were doing something with lots of colour or just a block, even highlights, because it's about the shape of the head and how the hair falls, not the colouring technique itself?
Honestly I don't believe he's a real hairdressser. I don't even believe he had a licence in the beginning. He's all around shady and often gets things wrong in the weirdest of places. Most probably got famous because of his looks and overdramatic reactions, he just has a lovable personality, is all. You're right to question him, people follow him blindly when he obviously has limited knowledge in the area he's supposed to excel at.
@@natasagrzanic7896 good yo know I'm not the only one suspicious of people when things don't add up haha. I feel like it's become a big problem to question things in recent times, as though being doubtful is some kind of personal attack and makes you a bad person. It's so strange to think that "social justice" or whatever is beating critical thinking out of people.
@@natasagrzanic7896 not gonna lie, I also don't think he's a real hairdresser. My point was only that sometimes we struggle with certain techniques. And you guys are right, sometimes he'll mess up even on the most basic things. That I saw when I started beautyschool
Sorry but so not your fault he 'failed'. As a person that it's not a hairdresser, I think it's not even a thing about understand hair as it is about having an understanding of spatial imagination. (Apart from that I actually don't understand people hyping him as he so often doesn't seem have a clue what he is talking about while pretending to do so, but that is just my personal estimation.)
He isn't even a hairdresser. He did a girls hair, and he fucked it up drastically. He removed all and any footage and photos of the collab, because it made him look bad. You can find it on RU-vid though.
I agree that every artist that works on 3d objects needs some sort of spatial awareness, in order to understand shape and placement... And he f_cked up when he layed the wig flat, distorting the shape even more... BTW he looks like a booger when he puts on the wig, which shows he doesn't even know how to appropiate and carry an edgy look
I too feel that way when I do my own rainbow hair(on both me and my clients)! I get totally ZEN and I think it keeps me focused to get it done in a good amount of time! 💕
Her content changed so much when her channel blew up. I can imagine it has been overwhelming, plus launching her polish line and holding down her day job, girl must need a nap somethin fierce!
Loving how you do your reaction video. I like that you let the video keep playing! Also now I need to do inverted hair. I feel like it will be a lot easier than the makeup 🤣
Before I found your channel. I though having Brad do my hair would be fantastic. I love Brad. Now I’m think I would love to have you do my hair. BTW, I’m 60 with short grey hair. Probably not your usual client. I need rainbow hair.
I wear wigs and custom color mine and I have some to have a black root and all you have to do is use some lightener to bleach out the notes and it’ll take the color right off of the lace
One reason wigs could be holding onto color better/longer than hair growing out of your hair could do with the oils our scalps produce? Like having the natural oils going through your hair all the time is working to break down the color quicker than on a wig that doesn't have to deal with the oils at all? I'm just taking a guess here, but assuming the wigs are also human hair, your scalp oil would be the only main difference I could see effecting it beyond possible treatments on the wigs itself
Small correction for the definition of inverted color: So first you need to know the three aspects of color which are hue, saturation, and value. Hue is the actual color so whether something is red, blue, etc., saturation is how vibrant the color is so whether it's neon, pastel, muted, etc, and lastly value is how dark or light something is. Next you need to understand how hues are arranged, because the inverted color is being taken from a digital camera and then manipulated in a digital imaging software it is using an additive color model. Additive color is basically color made from light while its opposite subtractive color is color made from pigments. So in an additive color model the opposite or red is cyan while in the subtractive model its opposite is green. The Inverted colors you get from filters have opposite value and hue but the saturation stays the same. However inverted color can be any color that has one of its aspects backwards so it can have different values and saturated but the same hue and could be considered inverted. This was a really long explanation for something simple but I felt like a very complex term was being brushed over. :D
