Following the recent demise of my 35 year old Dual CS505-2, I decided to invest in a mid-range turntable by the renowned Austrian manufacturer Pro-Ject. This is their current model, the Debut Carbon Evo, which features a carbon fibre tonearm, a heavy steel platter damped with TPE, a TPE isolated motor, and even a speed switch - which means no having to lift the platter every time you alternate between 33 and 45. This feature alone surely gives it the edge over Rega and their own highly regarded Planar series! Don't lift it, just spin it! There are also nine plinth finishes to choose from - five satin, three gloss and one real wood veneer. The turntable is suppled with the Pro-Ject Connect-It interconnect (RRP £45) and the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge and stylus (RRP £95). USA customers receive the Sumiko Rainier cartridge and stylus.
This video is not sponsored by Pro-Ject, Ortofon, Sumiko, Rega or Dual, although I will gladly receive any of their products for review. Also thank you to Analogue Seduction of Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire for providing a wonderful discount on the product.
Apologies for the delay in providing a new video. As a carer to a disabled partner, I am kept busy. Not only that, but I am now a disabled person too, so there is more for me to chew!
