Definitely my 1st Tire Purchase when i get My Gen 8 Axe, I'll be looking for a set of 1.9's but every review I have watched seems to tip in favor of this tire. Thx for the video.
Interesting. 🙂I have super swampers that have the ( exact) same tred pattern 👍👍. Mine are cheap tires. And I sure wish I had those inner foams. Me just got the regular foams. I have nice aluminum white beadlock wheels though. Yup 1.9 they are identical looking the tress I mean are exact. But different name. Thanks for the look bro. 👊😎
Great video Rich, thank you. I definitely want to pick up some of these tires for my Wraith. it looks like they would be a big improvement over the stock tires That U4 track looks like fun.
Thanks Brian! Yeah, the Hyrax will help the Wraith...make sure and check out some of the easy mods for the wraith too, like lowering it, and doing the battery forward mod
Got a question here. For the 2.2 Hyrax, which foams should be purchased, the 1.9 Dual Stage or the 2.2 Dual Stage XL? The 2.2 Dual Stage XL foams just seem way too big for the 2.2 Hyrax tire. Thoughts?
I'm usually pretty good on putting links to the products in the video description. Here's the Dual Stage PL foams I used for the 2.2" hyrax: bit.ly/3dCNLo6
Any advice on wobbling? I just bought a set of HYRAX 1.9 G8 Tire Mounted on Impulse Black Internal Bead-Loc Wheels and they wobble. My crawler is brand new and the stock tires do not wobble. Help!
SuperLubot first off, make sure your foams are 100% even all the way around. Then, make sure the Tire’s bead is captured evenly in the beadlock. Other than that, you can massage the tire in the heavy areas
@@SuperLubot did the advice work? Because I need help bad! I just mounted these as well on on new aluminum beadlock wheels and wow what a wobble! I thought my axle shaft was bent or portals were cooked! I also put the stock wheels & tires back on to just make sure and yup it's the new wheels.
Just installed ssd wheels with proline/blue ring, Hyrax tires and dual stage foam. I see the tires are very pressed, the soft external foam is very pressed too, and I thing if really work on rock climbing? I didn’t pierce the tires too
Just installed my tires on beadlocks as outlined here. They seemed to come out great. That was until I tested them on my Rock Rey. Several tires pulled out the beads. Am I doing it wrong??
Hi there! Great video! I know that this is an old video, but I noticed that you said if you're going to be using high voltage or brushless to go with the dual stage foams. But what if your rig is on the heavy side? I did mount these 1.9" with the dual stage foams on aluminum beadlock wheels for my Gen8 crawler. So should I just use the factory Hyrax foams for crawling? After mounting them I had 3 out of 4 wobble bad. So I will try try again while watching this video 3 more times lol! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks!
I have not heard of venting tires before. For whatever reason, in all the years that I have been bashing and sometimes racing RCs, The only car that I have had a problem with trash in my tires was on my Traxxas Ken Block I/16 scale rally car. I have three sets of tires of different types, rally, slick, and drift. They all filled with sand like dirt through the wheel vent holes, which were very tiny. I tried to shake them out with little success. I had to drill out the wheel vents, and was, after quite some time shaking, I emptied the wheels of dirt. Will venting work on on-road tires also?
Did you not find the hard inner foam can move side to side on the large metal inner ring. They are designed for proline wheel which have a profile to match the foam. Iv the same combo but does not work for me.
I just got some proline tires and they will not stop popping off when I’m trying to screw them on. It looks like the wheel bands used here might help to solve my problem?
thanks for posting this video. Question for you: you indicated that venting tires helped prevent ballooning. Does that apply to 1:10 scale buggies as well?
Michael Boggs on ballooning, I meant when air gets caught inside the wheel/tire on RPM and deflates slowly after running. But yes, I would always vent 1/10th buggy tires too
Those are sweet tire and rims...perfect for my rr10 bomber:) that's why my stock bfgoodrich Baja tires are soft coz they have only single foam..now j know:) thanks man! I'm subscribed now:)
Would you recommend this setup on a yeti. For bashing. These tires are sick but I’m just wondering if all this stuff has any benfit for just bashing when compared to the stock tires I got on the yeti kit
I just bought the 1.9 they look so kewl on my scx10 I was curious does the tires have a certain direction they have to go on the orange dot is that for which side the tire should be on
Not sure on that one.....those are made for the Super Rock ray and are 7.28" tall that's a massive tire for the SMT10. You can check the SRR wheel, but I bet they're a larger hex
The RCNetwork The RCNetwork I followed Eddies advice and went CWR 1025 (F) 1026 (R) on my SSD Assassin wide pl wheels. (Your wheel link goes to non pl wheels)
One hole on the inner sidewall should be good, some beadlocks come with a hole built in to the rim like the vanquishes. One dude on youtube saying he puts like 8 a tire, to me that's dumb but the worlds full of it.
From my race days, we always did holes in the tread..sometimes on the outer side of the tread. And we always equaled the holes. Usually 2 holes, but for these larger sized tires, I settled on 3
should have gave them a tug to show the rim works good with the prolines. i'm having a problem with the tsl xl not wanting to hold a bead with any of the rims i usually use with the prolines. i'm also using the 2 stage foams and not impressed at all. yet !
I've heard of issues with the TSL's not holding...no first hand experience though. I've already ran these and zero issue with the bead on the Hyrax's - these are my 4th set of hyrax's.....and 3rd set of dual stage foams. Solid combo
It's about letting air and debris out.....if locked down, air will still get in and balloon the tire - especially at speed and in air....causing other issues
I purposefully squish my tires before final lock down to prevent ballooning. It's worked for my crawl style for the last 7yrs. To each their own :) I got a set of Hyraxes to mount up. Can't wait to use them
Armistice023 I hear ya....crawling may work, but when you're powering an 8lbs rig running a 3000kv Brushless sensored motor on 3s, you'll have wheel speed....
adding holes on the actual tread is a bad idea... for a number of reasons, not only will it cause your you foam to become more of a sponge when driving in wet conditions, mud and rocks will harden inside, over time causing your tires to warp and become extremely unbalanced. Also increase the chances of the holes to get caught on rocks and other debris that would enlarge the whole or rip the tire completely. To vent the wheel properly, holes should be drilled in the back side of the rim.
Dallin Ostler venting Tires/wheels has always been a controversial topic - for dry conditions like what I race in, venting the tire is best, especially since running the car allows dirt, debris, etc to exit the tire. I’ve never had a tire rip, tear, etc - and I have used this method on 50+ sets of tires now. I can see how venting the wheel can help in water conditions, but once again, I’m not describing that.
This was a set up for a race application....plus to get the full benefit of a dual stage foam or most foam period, you do need to vent the tire. I get “not venting” if you’re in a super wet climate or if you turn your RC truck into a submarine. To vent or not to vent is a heated debate, and I see why you’re so mad 😁
