Review your own video and max onboard again … you drew a rectangle box to show legal space for Norris but didn’t mention or point out that said rectangle box is leading off track as you move further ahead and the box itself is parallel to max wheels . A box / rectangle have straight lines on both side which clearly shows the angle without a straight line as a reference is misleading watching it with naked eye and the same reason Peter Windsor disagrees with the ruling m. He unlike many reviewed the onboard footage and notice no steering input to the left from max at all leading to the brake markers.
@rockj8197
@rockj8197 3 месяца назад
Box isn't parallel to Max's wheels. Max clearly moves right then left again. Is it illegal? Since he was given the penalty, it is in this instance. Is there a broader belief that he does this regularly knowing others will save their cars instead of crashing, it seems so. Only way to stop it is to keep crashing until rules are made that clarify overtaking and drivers consistently causing accidents to avoid being overtaken. Otherwise, drivers will keep whining about Max's aggressive driving style and losing because they back out.
@groundhabit6408
@groundhabit6408 3 месяца назад
@@rockj8197 not sure if you’re trolling or being serious here … the box is clearly parallel and even if not the box goes off track. This showing you L’s did brake line and direction leads off track . But again the box is parallel to max that’s why the onboard footage shows no major movement form max wheel at all at marker 100. Also a reason no one wants to show the onboard footage when discussing this … onboard footage would be the most obvious way to see a driver steering input , but onboard goes against the notion he moved and works against the agenda.

@jorismak
@jorismak 3 месяца назад
That 'manoeuvre' after the turn -> they both had flat tires by that point, and they were fighting to keep their car on the road. The issue is in the corner leading up to that. And only _this_ corner, because _before_ that it was hard and clean, is what most people are saying. This little move 'oh I go right, crap you are on the outside I go straight a bit more' is the issue. And it's OK he got a penalty for that. The fighting before is just 'Norris shut up, get the move done' to be honest. Why the stewards said that Norris was _also_ to blame for the situation, is because there was space enough on the outside to not make contact. Verstappen left him room, so the contact is Norris his fault, but it's Verstappen's fault for making an erratic move, so there's the penalty. Official statement: 'Verstappen is _mostly_ to blame', so not 100% :). I agree with your analysis of this corner, but absolutely not with the statement that what happened after they got damaged cars is a wrong doing.

In 2023? When. max had a car that was over a second a lap faster than every other car? Of course he was untra conservative when he knows he can just drive past ppl like they are sitting still last year. Battling someone on equal footing as you is not remotely the same as battling someone who has one hand tied behind their back because their car is noticeably slower than Maxs. Here is the facts…. Lando had ZERO obligation to compromise his line and his braking by going over the kerb in the middle of the hardest braking phase on the circuit just because Max uses his signature move of “back out or we both wreck”.
@Streamlines
@Streamlines 3 месяца назад
The point is, when you want to move under braking, you have to release the brake a bit to move or otherwise you will understeer. There was no way Max could have made that corner with how he approached it even-though he broke early since he decided to move to the left again. Lando on the other hand was braking late and in order to make the corner, he was not allowed to release the brake to move, hence why he could not move out of the way when Max was squeezing him, unless he releases the brake and can't make the corner too. Now, Max put himself and Lando in a position where both of them could not make the corner and will go wide and out of the track. Which is bullshit racing. If you watched this video, you should have understood all of this because Naska does a great job explaining it all even with example-footage of his own racing.

Incorrect analysis. Norris still had plenty of space. Norris simply braked too late and too aggressively. If we are saying moving under breaking isn't allowed and is deserving of a penalty, even when more than a car width of space remains, then Formula 1 might as well just close up shop and call it a day. Because almost every driver does what Max did here... on a regular basis.

His analysis, and that of many other current/ex racing drivers is 100% correct. There's been 8 drivers that have analysed it now and all agree it was Max 100% at fault. The stewards (ex drivers) gave him two penalties for the incident (2 points on his super licence to go with the 10secs) and they have the TELEMETRY ffs! Don't act like you know more because you play Gran Turismo and drive about like a bellend in a Honda Civic.
@drews5569
@drews5569 3 месяца назад
@101wildgoose Doesn't matter. Consensus does not equal correctness. If it did, we'd all still believe the Sun revolves around the Earth. The fact remains that Lando had a car width on track and almost a car width off track. This is irrefutable. Remember, a car hasn't exceeded track limits until all four wheels have crossed the white line. So technically, Lando had nearly two car widths of space before he could have been considered to be forced off. I'm agreeing that Max moved under braking. Go read what I wrote originally. What I'm arguing is that if moving under braking, WHILE LEAVING A FULL CAR WIDTH OF SPACE, is now going to be considered worthy of a penalty, then either every single driver on the grid is going to have to change the way they defend (because they all do it), or F1 is going to be a circus of penalties. McLaren lobbied the stewards for a penalty and got it. Are you trying to tell me they never get it wrong? Ha ha ha! 🤣 This guy's analysis was incorrect and quite elementary. For the record, I've never played the game you mentioned, and one of my cars is a Ferrari California, the most aerodynamic road car ever developed at time of its production, in case you're interested in a bit of trivia. 😉

Norris is breaking late( because max using inner line at first), after max turns his wheel into outer corner, Norris is under the late but heavy break, there is nothing Norris could do to change direction under heavy wheel break( unless you want to lockup your car and ruins your pace), if Norris really avoided the crash, max will win everything. That’s why we keep saying it’s hard to pass max without crashing
@drews5569
@drews5569 3 месяца назад
@rockman1942 I admire Lando for trying aggressively to pass Max, but he wasn't patient enough. I will never fault a driver for trying anything they can to win. And I admire Max for defending like a champion WHILE LEAVING MORE THAN A CAR WIDTH OF SPACE for Lando. The truly ridiculous thing about this crash scenario is if the stewards would have issued Lando's 5s penalty sooner (as they should have), none of this would have happened. To me, the FIA needs to start giving penalties with TEETH. If a driver causes an incident which leads to another car being retired from a race (looking DIRECTLY at you Stroll and K-Mag)...then that driver should not only get the penalty point on their license, but also be disqualified from that particular race as well. ESPECIALLY if you would have gotten points for finishing it! If one team looses out on points, so should the other team.

Max positioned his car perfectly to defend around that track. The movement occurs prior to him braking, and it's arguably more to do with the shape of the bend. He is carrying less momentum than Norris because he didn't have the DRS. He brakes in a perfectly straight line; it's just that the straight line is not perpendicular to the track limits. The more I see it, the more I think it is an amazing pice of driving to cover the inside and then open the corner whilst in possession of the corner being the car that is ahead by a length and on the inside. Lando is just carrying too much momentum to properly control his car.

Not sure I 100% agree. The racing line here is to the left kerb, where Norris went. Max did place his car more toward the middle after existing out of turn 2 which is where you naturally would flow - after not seeing Lando sending another dive-bomb, he moved back to the left toward the racing line and continued on a straight line to the turn in point. He still left enough room for Lando but Lando stayed on his line and they collided. Lando could have avoided the crash but taking fully to the kerb or being just a foot to the left. Max was also turning right at the time of the collision. I would have said it was a racing incident, but I am not a steward. Verstappen's aim was to cram Norris onto the curb (which would have required Norris to release his brake slightly and turn slightly to get onto the curb), then hold him high, leaving no gap between the cars, such that Norris would then have to wait for Verstappen to turn in, before Norris could even begin his turn in. The delayed turn in would have then made it such that Norris would have been nowhere near close enough to be able to draft up to Verstappen down the next straight. It's slightly dirty racing, but somewhat common in racing. Regardless, Verstappen is at fault because he moved into the outside lane, while Norris was in it.

Max braking early while Norris is in his mirrors.. REALLY??? He minimised space for Norris on his left legittimately. ( You can't say the same about Norris action at the Spanih GP start where he pushed Max on the grass at 250 kmph). Why would Max give more than a little space to Norris? In F1 there is no reason for that. This is front line F1 racing. There was enough space left for Norris to not hit Max's rear left tire , even under braking. The curbs are part of the racing track wich means there was even 2 cars width space for Norris. Yet, Norris decided to commit to the turn. As a defender THAT is excactly what you are trying to achieve, right? Hindering your attacker to commit to the turn and possibly overtake you. And if he could not control his car an inch to avoid the collission, it only proves his dive bomb approach which caused Max to not steer in and make contact left front wich was also not Max's fault therefore. I'm not a PRO racer.

As a well-known race engineer with 27 championships wins and 452 race victories, I can tell you that you really don't know anything at all, about real racing if that is your opinion. Just listen to Peter Windsor's analysis and I hope you will learn something. It is all about jealousy against Verstappen. This type of jealousy only happened to the really greatest drivers, just like it happened Senna, when for example Prost could and would not admit that Senna was much better than him. Some drivers will not accept to be beaten by a much better driver than themselves. The history shows that a cry baby that continuously falsely complains about another driver, trying to gain unfair advantage that way, will never become a champion. Mark my words.

You are a racer, and your explanations reasonate with the conditions at hand. However, compare this race with 1993 South Africa GP. The cars now are too long and the tracks have been narrowed to ridiculous proportions. These are the real reasons for the incident between Verstappen and Norris.

He actually didn't turn at all. He was actually not steeing and because of track layout he goes to the left. Lando was desperate. The FIA is at fault here. They should have ruled the penalty for his track limits. even if Lando would have passed Max he wouldn't be there very long. If Max would have the DRS in the next round he would use the 3 zones to create a gap big enough to get out of the 1 sec of Lando. Passing Max is one thing. Staying ahead is something different. @@TheNorwegianPhantom I’m saying that if Max doesn’t have that slow pit stop, he’s far enough ahead of Lando that he doesn’t catch him. Lando might have gotten relatively close by the end but Max would have won by a couple seconds at least.

@@gregrowe1168 ok i agree with that, The Red Bull pit crew doing a rare mistake, made the race much more intresting, than if Max was left on his usual lonesome front spot.

@@TheNorwegianPhantom That's the winning strategy for Max and Red Bull. Qualify on pole, take the lead. Push hard to get as big of a lead as possible. And then, when they must pit, be the fastest or at least equal to everyone else, most notably Mcclaren. They failed to execute that last step and it turned into a dogfight with Lando. Max is seldom pushed late, trying to defend his lead. The 2nd place runner is usually so far behind he can't even see them.
