The reason he was trying to get a tractor to travel over the conveyor mess instead of just walking was to automate the process of transporting stuff. You can set up tractors to automatically drive along a prerecorded route and pick up and drop off items at truck stations (you can see at 10:56 that Josh had built at least one station as part of his plan). If he'd been completely committed to using tractors to get the job done, he could have used foundations to build a giant overpass, or alternatively if he'd taken the long way around he probably would have found driveable terrain eventually. Incidentally, it never comes up again because he got sidetracked pushing the wreckage around, but Josh misunderstood what he did wrong with the freight platform--the problem is that freight cars load and unload simultaneously, not sequentially, so if he wants to load 146 freight cars he needs 146 freight platforms at that station.
16:53 There are several guys, and they reacted to Josh's videos. Their reactions were priceless. I must have watched those videos 20 times. Their reactions to the water pipe nightmare was one of the funniest things I've seen.
to answer your question the most efficient is conveyors because ultimately on ether end of the transport system they will be throttled by conveyers people use trains and other because it cleans up the map as well as its far easier to alter a train line than re do 10 miles of conveyers because you wanted to change up your factory.
Also if anyone is interested on more info about doing this kind of train chaos when this was recorded there was in fact a cap on trains it was 700 at 700 the game engine would force a crash (not from lack of performance from just item limiting) now after the upgrade to unreal engine 5 as far as i can tell that limiter was nerver transfered over and there is no longer a limit…. I have personally made it to 2500 freight cars on a single train before i murdered a i7 13700K so do whatever you shall whit this info 😅
There are a few videos i watch where some people build very efficient bases, looking not only clean, but almost no waste between start and end with the resorces. It very satisfying to watch
The vehicles freezing in the distance is a thing they added about 2 years back for optimization. The program still knows the route the vehicles should take if you program them but they don't render in graphics. If you do get close they will render in and take on physics, but if you have a programmed route they will automatically defy physics just to get back on track. I think his plan probably could have worked, but he didn't have it programmed so it never corrected itself.
You can watch other LGIO videos. They may not be Satisfactory videos, but they're equally as hilarious. The Hydroneer series is amazing. The devs added a 1 billion bounty sign for LGIO as an easter egg. There are also the videos where he managed to get new records on Ram usage, I think the current record is 50 GB of ram usage.
Trains are vastly more efficient than drones for transporting stuff. Drones consume batteries as fuel which is a really high grade resource. Trains in comparison just use electricity so you more just have to make the tracks and then it should be worth it. Plus you can make full grids of tracks across the map so as long as you one main route future train setups are far faster. The point of drones is that they're easier to setup and don't take the time to build a route or deal with signals.
Trains can carry more , each freight platform has 2 inputs and 2 outputs, plus you can ship unpackaged Liquids and Gases (each rail car needs it's own a platform) And run off your power grid and can transmit that power to another station, making it a power delivery system too. Drones Need Batteries, the drone port only has a single input (for goods, the 2nd input is for Batteries) and output, and you have to run power to both ports, unlike stations. oh and you have package the liquids and Gases. But the both have their uses.
Imo the drones are only really better for long distances with awkward terrain, or if you need to cross a bunch of stuff you've already built, trains are only slightly slower after the takeoff and landing sequence and can carry way more.
Total eclipse and kibitz, if your looking for satisfactory let's plays that look good, I personally like kibitz because he gets OCD with his stuff. Though lately he's seemed to branch out to other factory games.
Its hard to compare. Trains are cheaper, much cheaper. And they run on energy. But when you need a lot of them then you need to watch on crossing rails and set gates to prevent train crashes. Also they need a LOT of space. If you want to be efficient then you need at least one cargo for each resource. So you need one cargo segment on station. That mean that sometimes your base need enough space to have like 10 or more train station elements. Drones are easier to set up. And you can have hundrets of them and they dont colide with each other. But they run on bateries that are end game product. They also have much smaller capacity... but they fly across the map so they are quicker. Those biomes were close to each other. But now this platform thingy looks different. That part with stucking trucks is rooted in how they are desing from the start. Any type of cars in this game had fun thing called i believe "route saving". You press record, drive and everything that you do during recording, vehicle try to do on its own when you leave it. So thats how you set up your first resource delivery(if you dont drag conveyors trough wole map). ANd when you look at them everything looks normal. But when you are out of rendering distance they dont drive. They teleport between checkpoints. And when some obstacle stand between two checkpoints truck stuck. In this scenario lack of ground is seen as obstacle. But when he is close enough then physcis engine catch up and truck fell down.
As a avid stream watcher and the person to got the luck to be the first one to donate on the gaming channel i think we can all agree he has the superior beard
Since you've already reacted to raft, Hydroneer does indeed seem like your next best option to react to. Especially the early Hydroneer video's are great. If I remember correctly, the craziness of the later videos is a tad hindered by the limitations of what the game can handle. But it does bring its own physics based insanity.
the jump pad thing may be because they added the aiming thing in the update he's playing? thats a guess. the other answer is 'because they exist' perhaps!
I would never ever destroyed anything in this biome because it’s too beautiful I would even made my house there and yes I played this game but I just downloaded it yesterday so I don’t know much about it but I will try to find this biome
Hey Goodbeard remember me? I'm Goodbeards hydration alert and u better keep urself hydrated btw u should really play lethal company hey maybe sometime u can play it with me peace!!
You could keep running position calculations just do away with the graphical models when they are too far away or out of sight, Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom does this. It's better but it does take a lot of work so most developers don't do it.
You sound just like the people hating on Palworld for ripping off Pokemon art style... If you don't like react content don't watch it. Some of us actually like seeing other people reacting to things we have already seen...
You are a person who reacts to other youtubers for views and subscribers you need permission from lets game it out if you are going to make this many videos on "reacting" to his videows and "roasting" them you can get copyrighted if you do not have consent from Josh.
