Dk needs to stop catching with his body and get softer hands he also needs to learn to hold on to footballs especially bullets also he need sto work on his route running
@Mason Williamson Yeah ik Matt was arguably top 5-10 range back then.. but I think his numbers woulda been better with Russ. Although he doesn’t have Staffs arm strength, there’s still no throw he can’t make & he way more accurate. If Megatron were on the Seahawks he woulda been in playoff contention every year with a better QB/Maybe he’d still be playing. Either way, I think Calvins more gifted, no slight to DK tho, he’s still tremendous.
You should find the sports science on Calvin. It’s insane to see how much of a freak he actually was. It’ll be hard to find someone like him. DK could maybe get there but Calvin is something else
6’5” 237lbs runs a 4.33 40 with a 43” vertical leap...11ft standing broad jump. His catch radius was insane, having a 6’10” wingspan. Megatron was something special and it’s cool to see he is in the marijuana business now.
He actually got into the HOF this year. Not only was he worn down, he was also sick of the Lion's organization's poor management. Just like Barry Sanders before him.
"reminds me of Dk Metcalf" oh boy only if he knew. Calvin Johnson even though he retired waaaaay to early. Is arguably the greatest receiver of all time. Definitely a top 5
I think what he might be hinting at is the controversy between Jim Schwartz and DK Metcalf. Jim Schwartz was the Head Coach of the Lions for much of Calvin Johnson’s career. At some point after Calvin retired and Jim Schwartz was a Defensive Coordinator of another team, Jim Schwartz complimented DK Metcalf after the game. He personally told DK that he reminded him of Calvin and that if he continued to work on his game that he could be as great as Calvin was. Unbelievably, DK was offended by the compliment. And Jim Schwartz was offended that DK was offended
Calvin "megatron" Johnson is an all time great and its sad that the Detroit Lions are what really made him retire. They made him hate football he wont even watch it. They did barry Sanders the same way
Agreed, but there is also the element that Calvin Johnson was such a big strong freak that the only way guys could tackle him was to chop his legs out from under him. His last few years in the game, he didn't practice at all. He was instead on the trainer's table getting his knees drained from all those hits. He even said, "I wanted to retire while I could still walk."
Fuck bro people don’t understand how good calvin was I remember when I was a kid and started watching football cause of my uncle and around the same time in middle I began playin football I randomly one day watched a cowboys vs lions game I think and was just. Mesmerized by Calvin Johnson since that day he was my football idol he’s MY greatest WR of all time he just did it all u can’t name someone else who was like 6’5 had flawless hands and ran a 4.35 40 that came in clutch time and time again without having a great qb he was the heart and soul of the lions offense and man I would’ve loved seeing him go elsewhere and win a chip he deserved that much at the minimum for what he gave to that trash organization man
Stafford is the best QB lions have had, and a lot of the league would have loved stafford. It was our ownership, that fucking sucks. Other than that, I agree 100%.
The Lions attempting to make thing better between Calvin lately is awesome. He's been around the team and stadium a bunch. 36 years of Lions fandom, Calvin was fucking special. Now he owns a bunch of weed farms out by me lol such a chill dude.
Speaking as a 40+ year Lions fan: when Calvin retired we were crushed, but not angry -- we understood. We'd been through it before with Barry. Being a Detroit fan was usually grim going, and that was as a fan -- can only guess at how grueling it must've been year after year as a player. The team was dismal year after year, no matter who was on the field, who was coaching, or who the GM was. Things have turned around since Sheila Ford Hamp has taken the helm as owner -- everything about the organization feels vibrant and alive, and Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell are a dynamite GM+head coach combination. I can't help but think that Calvin would've stuck around for at least a couple more years if the team was what it is today. Even so, Calvin is my #2 player of all time (#1 is, of course, Barry Sanders).
@@jackhightower2696 nah he’s saying Julio is the 2nd most talented. They’re slightly different receivers but in terms of uncoverable receivers to have ever played megatron is 1 and Julio is 2 or honestly 1.b if you want
@@dc07932 jerry rice is the goat. In terms of talent megatron Julio and randy are better but jerry had the best career. Imo megatron is 1 but Julio and randy and a few others are in that little collection of people who could be considered the most talented and I wouldn’t argue against that too much.
@@themonsterc99 yeah I didn’t word my comment the best but basically the point I was making was Jerry Rice is the GOAT and undisputed best WR due to his hard work and determination, but if I’m looking strictly at their bodies and abilities and physical attributes Calvin Julio Moss are simply elite and probably the three best we’ve ever seen with DK flirting with joining them
@@jackhightower2696 you're a delusional Seahawks fan. He isn't comparable to Calvin. Julio jones is more of a calvin then dk. You comment on everyone's comment meatriding dk.
Tyreke and DK not even near the same level as Megatron they both great players but Calvin wasn’t even human he was born to destroy defenders and crush dreams😭 u can game plan for those two guy they literally used to have 3 guys assigned to Calvin Johnson
DK is good for Calvin Johnson was great I had the luxury of watching him always scoring touchdowns on my Chicago Bears....who is only one corner in the league that actually matched up with him and that was Charles Tillman everyone else he torched them on a regular basis
Underrated? Dude is a first ballot Hall of Famer. There is no one underrating him. They know who he is and what he did. In his short time, I feel he is the best receiver ever. But for longevity sakes, it is still Rice.
DK doesn’t have the hands and doesn’t really break too much tackles like Calvin but he is faster than Calvin, I feel like Dk needs to work on his routes more and he’ll be a top 3 receiver in the league
Coming from a lions fan Calvin was the greatest of all time. Dk could be great but those are huge shoes to fill. I may be biased though. Lol. Losing stafford this season broke my heart. It’s like the lions can’t keep their stars happy because they can’t win
Great video man! But you wanna see a once in a lifetime talent… please react to the GOAT 🐐 the amazing Barry Sanders 50 greatest runs! Mind blown 🤯! Born and raised in Detroit my entire life… Barry Sanders is INCREDIBLE!
it’s barley Dks second year and was a top 10wr this year, he has much to learn but he isn’t close to Megatron. maybe he will be one day but right now not even close
It was something special to watch Megatron play, just as it was to watch Barry Sanders run, unfortunately they both played for a team where ownership, and front office just don’t have a clue. Best thing the Alford Family can do is sell the team. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life but like Calvin and Barry I just walked away from the team, it was so hard to watch talents like this just burned up and leave the game.
Calvin Johnson is in a league of his own. He broke records people spend 15-20 yrs trying to do, in only 9 seasons and is one of 346 (ever) first ballot Hall of Famers. He is a machine and it will be a while before he is ever matched by someone else I feel. Just sucks he got stuck with the Lions in their shitty years.
hey ... i dont think i've ever heard your name. They did a sports science on Calvin it's insane you should watch it. I don't know if it's worth a vid but still insane stats.
Calvin Johnson is a completely differently player than DK. Calvin was a WR that was basically a 6’5 Tight End with world class speed and a Michael Jordanesque 42” vertical.
They started calling DK Metcalf Baby Megatron for a reason this year lol. They have a lot of similarities to their game as well as differences but Calvin Johnson aka Megatron is the Godfather of just unhumanlike physically gifted receivers of that size.
Statistically DK has thus far had better stats, but CJ was playing in a different time of the league where he had to have the size to just take the hits and make the catches. They’re very comparable with size and speed but CJ is better, in my opinion.
