Thank you - the pro's and con's question came from me, appreciate you taking the time to answer the question. I am in the process of doing my C1 theory test and containers seemed like work that I would enjoy. 👍

Thanks for that, it was actually so informative. Never saw a container drag before... had loads of questions but all gone with some marbles 🤪 are all containers sealed when you get them on, is the only one I can remember? Ye have beautiful motorways there with all the tree's bee's paradise.. ours are a desert for them. They even have a remote control mulcher here that chews up the gorse on the banks, its a handy winter feed for them on warm winter days when they can get out. My retest in the ridgid is 6th of April, I'll keep ya posted.

All containers sealed on import/Export- container drags mostly empty to be used as storage or site offices

D o you get to work out of all the prts or just SH , TG , FS , , and is your planning done centrally or on a local base you work from , do you get to meet your planner

Mostly Soton, then GTW then felix - planning done from our yard so when it goes wrong we can poke him in the eye! 😂

In your opinion what is the best dock/port to visit when getting your boxes on/off?

I don't think there is! It's very hit and miss, sometimes you can be box on/off in under an hr, other times it could take 4 hrs!

My mate just landed a job with SJG doing containers outta so'ton docks. He loves it. I did my cat c but will have to do +e as i fancy this kinda work at my ripe old age 😅

@@fatbloketravels One Felixstowe trip I bought back an open sea deck loaded with pipes!...that was different!! It was loaded at quayside with a team of dockers holding ropes and placing over the trailer!!

Doing containers for 3.5 now and i think the only times that i was bored was when the dock was closed due to wind. Regarding da day work, it all depends where do you get the container from, i had days that i ve done 3 jobs but i haven t done more than 50 miles...

@@fatbloketravels I've done 4 in a day, but i've managed to do none. It's down to how shitty the Liverpool dock is and most of the time it is shit :))

@@loyd4you Yep it's always down to how quick you get out of the docks! It's got to cost Haulage firms Millions in lost revenue being kept / delayed by docks

@@fatbloketravels Been told that on a bad week, our depot can loose from 30k to 50k in a week becouse of the dock delays. It takes about an hour to get serviced (if you are lucky) but before that hour you have to que for at least 2 and by the time you get your box, the job gets canceled and you have to change your box. :))

Got my class one test next month , looking at doing containers or tankers , can you tell me which companies I should be looking at , I live in Stoke but will travel anywhere. Looked at Maritime Transport, but don’t like how they have a camera in the cab . Enjoying the videos pal .

Generally yes, unless you work for a dodgy outfit! I'm salaried and a tramper so makes no odds to me! Finish one job on to the next, depending on hrs/dock slots/locations etc

Containers are custom sealed so they can't go in them, you just have to hope they were loaded correctly at point of origin. Pays to go sensible on bends and roundabouts with a container on board! Other than that it's clean easy work, and you get paid to do bugger all whilst you are being loaded or unloaded - I like it.

It could be a simple RDC or it could be an old Victorian Mill designed for horse and carts - you just never know on containers!

Container work looks good. I get that different parts of the country have different types of work. I am W London based. Too far from ports for a container job? I guess for Soton you would want to be Hampshire based. Thanks for the education.

That is a decent piece of content. Thanks very much man. I enjoyed it as I have been thinking about doing containers myself and I didn't really expect to find any basic info about container work in the UK. I found you on Instagram as well. Could you recommend a decent company in Southampton, pls? I've done some curtains and walking floors just to get some experience but always wanted to do containers. :)

Salaried - So technically you can work right up to the legal driving/working time limits - So Yes I was paid if I did a 8hr day or a 15hr day - I didn't mind the waiting around too much, it was the running out of hours I disliked!
