Not only is he the best beatboxer out there, his bass vocal chops are as good as Tim's, and his vocal range is the widest in the whole group. If he wasn't doing Beatboxing he could easily lay down foundational bass just like Tim, and sometimes you do get to hear it. It's hard to tell it's not Tim though . . .

Tim Foust (the deep bass singer) has a video with the adorable, talented red head Austin Brown on AB's channel where they sing "My Maria". Tim actually sings the high notes for the line, "my Mariiiiaaa". He has amazing range.

@@janhankins911 I don't think Geoff has actually got as good a range. Apparently subharmonics, which Geoff does better than even Tim, are actually performed an octave higher than they sound like they are at. Not sure how it works but that's basically how it was explained in another video I watched. So yes he hits crazy lows aurally, but vocally it's not as low as Tim can go with a growl.

@@annkline6183 Chance gets to shine in other songs. The guys all vote on whose voice is best suited for not only the song, but even the individual verses within songs. Sometimes they allow one person to really shine -- like When a Man Loves a Woman -- quite often they do let everyone have a verse or two to shine in. Just depends on the song. I, too, love hearing Chance sing lead. Truthfully, I enjoy hearing ALL of them do so. Since Adam so rarely sings, it's a real treat to hear him do so (like his line in How Great Thou Art).

Chance (Adam Chance), dark vest, sings baritone, covers bass when Tim is on a solo and did the Jew's Harp sound. Tim Foust, obviously bass with surprises. Adam Rupp, wife beater shirt and dark suspenders, "percussion", "harmonica", "record crackle" and sometimes tenor. Austin Brown, light shirt and medium red/brown vest, tenor with a darker tone and initial lead on this song. Rob Lundquist, overalls and full beard, tenor with a brighter tone.

@@sallyintucson Yeah, I think the British call it a vest. The U.S. underwear companies call it an A-Shirt, probably because it is kind of A shaped with the missing sleeves. Hollywood movies commonly presented abusive husbands as overweight and wearing a simple white tank top, so it picked up the ugly name and was sort of symbolic, like the bad cowboy in the black hat. There's a lot of terminology from the 1940's-1970s that is a bit crude. For example, look up the mnemonic for the electronics "resistor code". It has 2 versions : the rude and the rude+racist.

Oh Barry. You are a hoot and a half. This was filmed in Fairhope, Alabama, USA where my mama was born. That archway of oak trees is called Oak Alley. Some of the branches lean all the way over and are so heavy they brace on the ground. Each tree is a tiny ecosystem with it's own ferns, lychins, bugs, critters. That is a farely common thing in the USA South. Pensacola, Florida (my birth place) and Mobile, Alabama both have amazing Oak Alley's as well as most old plantation properties. These guys are just rediculously talented. Love your reactions.

I agree. Each of the 5 a capella artists I love (Ptx, HF, VP, Voctave, and Peter Hollens) are all so different but each is so wonderful. I'm always so surprised how few people have heard Voctave and Peter Hollens. If you like Ptx, HF, and VP, you should try Voctave and Peter Hollens. My absolute favorite of all time is Voctave's "Disney Princess Medley". It's just wonderful--both musically and it really demonstrates how far women have come (waiting for the knight in shining armor to ride up and carry them off to a castle to women going out and fighting battles). As for Peter Hollens I recommend his collaboration with Tim Foust called "Misty Mountains" (from the movie "The Hobbit") and his collaboration with the entirety of Home Free on "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For".

I promise it'll be worth the wait. Done too early it isn't appreciated nearly as much. To give you a range of their sound I'd recommend Helplessly Hoping and How Great Thou Art for phenomenal 5 part harmonies. The Butt's Medley and Country Fried Pop for humor. End of the Road and Blue Ain't Your Color give you some great sounds and show their versatility. And fair warning, Home Fries are as loyal as Pentaholics. You'll find that there are many crossover fans and the Home Fries will be here in droves when they see you're reacting to Home Free. And I'm sure they'll love you and your reaction style! This group is not from Alabama, but the video was filmed in my beloved state, "way down South" as we say here. Alabama on it's southern tip is the gulf of Mexico and miles of beaches. Travel more north and you have vast fields of land with crops of cotton and much more growing. When you get to my area, the land is becoming quite hilly with lots of forests, rivers, creeks, and streams. A bit north and north east and you will find mountainous with boulders, and apple orchards. Alabama is just below Tennessee where Avi lives. By the time you get to his area, the forests are dense, deep and the mountains are much higher. Avi lives deep in the forests in a quiet place, far from people. Hope to hear much more of Home Free from you! Always love your work.

A Cappella is finally getting the attention it deserves! Pretty much anyone can learn to play and instrument but voices are something different. Home Free is incredibly talented, and this song doesn't even have Austin's highest or Tim's lowest range. Pentatonix was the first well known a cappella group and VoicePlay rounds out the top three. If you want a good idea of what VoicePlay can do try Hoist the Colours. They're a lot more theatrical than Home Free but have the same depth of sound--their bass also has a 5 octave range.

Lead singer for this video is Austin Brown, a fantastic high tenor with a great range. Next is Adam Chance aka “Chance” to the fans. A great baritone with low range. He often sings bass with Tim. Last, but far from least, is the other Adam. Adam Rupp is often called the human drum kit. His beat-boxing is out of this world. Home Free is the real deal. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013. They are all tremendous singers. One change in the last 5 years. Chris Rupp (not in this video) was the tenor/baritone and founder with his brother Adam Rupp (beatboxer). He is in earlier videos with a cowboy hat or baseball cap. He left in 2016 to go solo. He was replaced by Adam Chance in the back row. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. He’s amazing. Yes, he was doing the harmonica without a harmonica. Chance was doing the mouth harp sound (didgeridoo). Front row: Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses) tenor. Austin Brown (reddish hair) high tenor. Tim Foust (long dark hair) bass. Tim has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and sing up in the tenor range…not kidding. 3 of the boys are from the south. The other two are from Minnesota. They sing country but sing all genres. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own stuff. Helplessly Hoping, Yours, I Can’t Outrun You, What We Ain’t Got, to hear more great harmonies. Good reaction Barry!

Just wait for another accapala group, Voiceplay. They have their own unique style. They love to be more theatrical, but still absolutely amazing & their Bass is just on another level.

Which is funny, cuz Tim actually helped Geoff really dig up his range from the bottom!

A much younger Austin (1st to sing here) was the one singing the high tenor solo in the beginning of Ring of Fire. You have the mainstream/pop with PTX now the country/Americana with Home Free. The only group left is the theater kids VoicePlay in the A Capella top 3. Voiceplay Oogie Boogie Song shows off their epic bass.

Barry, you are so much fun to watch/listen to! I nominate you and your channel as the best reaction site on the internet, (and outernet when that happens). You could make a living off of Home Free and Pentatonix. Thank you!

Dear Barry ☘️ this is your funniest reaction to date. I cannot believe the harmonica and the didgeridoo sounds are not the instruments themselves. And you so love the bassy boys 😍. Yes, some videos require double showings, and always a treat.

Hi Barry, First singer, Austin Brown, high tenor, second singer(overalls) Rob Lundquist, lead tenor, Beatboxer extraordinaire, Adam Rupp, Bassy boy, Tim Foust, basso Profundo, 5 octave range, he gets as low as A0, so this is just playing at it for him. Which leaves didgeridoo, jaws harp guy, Adam Chance, baritone with 4 octave range. Hope this helps a bit.

It is about time that you came back to Home Free. These guys are fabulous. They are my favorite a cappella group hands down. I know you have done tons of PTX but you need to give these guys a fair shot. They lean towards country but can do any genre. Tim Foust is a natural bass who can go super low, but can also sing up into the tenor range if he wants. And Adam Rupp their vocal percussionist beatboxer extraordinaire can replicate almost any sound. He is the best out there. Enjoy the ride into Home Free's talent.

There is still one more A Capella group that you need to hear, Voiceplay. They frequently have a guest singer join the productions. May I suggest "My Mother Told Me" or perhaps "Little Mermaid Medley".

Barry, Barry, Barry... Welcome to the fans. I love this band. All the sounds you hear are made by human voices and mouths. I highly recommend you listen their songs "When a man loves a woman", "End of the road", "Elvira", "Folsom prison blues", "Workin' for a livin' "... And of course, Voiceplay-another rabbit hole :)
