A challenge question for your taping crew. Without diving into job related costs, what are the odds of a short demo video of old school taping, especially corners, with only the use of a blade? No boxes, no corner tools, nothing but those ancient old school straight blades. Just curious after all ... -Bob...
The old school tools don't necessarily do a good job. These modern flushers are all surgical steel with a very tuned flex. You can of course do it with a 4" knife, but it makes no sense at all. A head is 100 bucks, you get a 2 1/2 for the first and a 3 or 3 1/2 for the second one. You'll make it back with the syringe and pole 1/4 way into the first job. Why would you resort to a knife and pan unless you are a masochist. The syringe/pump takes the longest to learn to control, but it's still well within a job or two. This is orders of magnitude faster, cleaner and more consistent.
I don't understan why you're surprised about some people doing 3 coats?? It all depends on the level of finish requested but the client. Lvl 4 & 5 both requires 3 coats on everything.
