@@amirperrymusic I know this old but i feel like pro tools is very rigid and lends itself to profession work like mixing and recording an artist instead of really creating something from scratch. Of course you can do whatever you want in any DAW but Ableton, Logic and FL all have very intuitive workflows for beatmaking when in comparison, Pro Tools' midi editing capabilities, default sound library and stuff like drum programming are quite primitive. But there's still nothing better for recording and engineering. Maybe Cubase or PreSonus Studio One.

I think it definitely depends on your workflow. I've tried almost every DAW out there and what always brings me back to ProTools is the simplicity of the layout and the routing. I actually had a good friend of mine go from ableton to ProTools because he felt the same way. I think making beats in ProTools gives you the added benefit of learning how to navigate the program better so when it does come time to record or mix, you're able to do things faster and with ease. I'm not exaggerating or trying to act like I'm the greatest engineer in the world but almost every artist I work with and record tell me I'm the quickest and best engineer they've worked with. I know it's because I make beats in it and it forces me to learn the program in and out. Any little tricks you can think of, I can do it in ProTools. I think those other DAWS you named are great and you like you mentioned, you can pretty much do anything in any of them but ProTools has a certain sound and feel that I just like.

I use Reason as well. I use to use it a lot more but you mentioning it makes me want to go thru all these refills I have. You should definitely give Pro Tools a shot with producing though. Especially if you record in it already. What made me transition into producing in Pro Tools is the fact that everything always ended up in Pro Tools anyway so I said I might as well start it there. Also, just being able to arrange the song visually helped a lot because I come from the world of MPCs where I worked in loops. Anyway, thanks for watching bro. I appreciate it.

You need to change the key range on that channel. Drag the low key all the way down and drag the high key all the way up. So it’ll be something like C-2 - G8. The key range is under the main tab right beside the volume.

FL studio is cool but I like pro tools because the layout is just more straight forward and almost all songs end up in Pro Tools anyway so I start it and finish it there.

The producing workflow is pretty much the same as the audio workflow for me. It's all about your creative process and knowing your way around the program. It's really as easy as working in any of the other DAWS. I've experimented with Fruity Loops, Logic, Garage Band and Studio One but I always end up back in ProTools because the routing is just so easier to me than those others.

A couple people mentioned those but they don't have aax versions. I would have to use another plugin to open them up in ProTools. I want to try them but I don't want to have to do all that. You should definitely peep this one though. It's dope.

Yea I do.

Yea you can make any kind of beats in it. FL has its advantages as well. It’s relatively simple to use and it’s easier to get access to the program. That’s why a lot of newer producers use it.

Drum samples are loaded in Battery 4. They just come from different kits I have.

First off, thanks man! I appreciate you for rocking with the channel. I don't think I've ever experienced the problem you're having though. Nothing should move when you're changing the grid. If you were changing the tempo I could see things moving but not when you change the grid. Sounds like a glitch. Try restarting pro tools.

Thanks for checking out the content! I wasn't putting down FL at all. I did mention that a lot of producers make the same type of beats in FL and they sound very similar though. I agree with you that Pro Tools is the standard for recording music and not necessarily beat making but I'm trying to show people that it is capable. I don't agree that the price is overkill. It's a tool like you said and one I find to be very well worth the price. I like the fact that when I'm working with an artist in the studio, I can do everything I need to in one program. Beat making in Pro Tools helps because it keeps me sharp with my proficiency in the program. I encourage people to try it out and learn it because of that fact alone. Knowing Pro Tools in and out keeps me working and booked. I have artist that only want to record with me because when we're in the studio, there is no time wasted. We not trying to figure out how to do nothing because whatever you want to achieve in the program, I can do it. I attribute that to me working day in and day out in the program. As a producer, I really think having and knowing that engineering side is important and creates value in yourself. I do music for a living. The way my brain works, I need shit to be organized and tidy. Working in one program helps keep my work that way. 😄

Glad I found the channel, love watching people create stuff and you can play that keyboard too! My comment was not aimed at you, but more generally because let’s face it, FL is considered pretty amateurish even though a lot of working producers use it these days and admittedly it’s not considered great for overall music production. Personally I play around with it because every now and then I wanna make music for fun but it’s not my career or something I wanna do for a living so I wanna keep the expense low 😊 Plus there’s no significant learning curve. For you as a professional it’s a different matter and I get why you need an industry standard. I just see a lot of comments online where aspiring producers imagine they need the best tools to write good music, which I think is the wrong way to look at it. Personally I’m not a fan of that style of trap beats FL producers make but the fact they found a simple tool to do what they love and that they share, that’s inspiring. Makes me think of the pure magic people created with just two turntables. Looking forward to seeing more 😊😊

I load all my drums in Battery 4 by just dragging them to whatever cell or pad I want them on.

Thanks man. I would definitely recommend Protools for a beginner. To me it makes sense to learn it early and really get familiar with it because as a producer/beat maker at some point you’re going to probably have to record and mix vocals and songs. Having a understanding of the workflow and the sound of pro tools, you’ll be able to make better sounding music faster because 9 times out of 10 a song ends up in pro Tools anyway.

Image-line make a vst version that works in other DAWs other than FL. Buy it then use Transvst to make an aax wrapper...but the vst only works on Windows.
