No one would suggest making mass oracles as the follow up imo. The fact that “make spire” wasn’t his first reaction to seeing the great walk of stargates kinda boggles the mind.

It's highly likely the protoss was smurfing, considering the stupidity of the build and the BM. Don't ever feel bad about losing to someone so pathetic that they spend their free time beating up people weaker than them because they're too afraid of losing.

We all lost to shit like this from time to time. The replay clearly shows that just having good fundamentals is enough to beat the crap out of this stupid ass strategy, like scouting and droning up. He should have absolutely ripped his face off just by doing ling runbys and droning up at the same time, which is duable even for plat, much more so in diamond.

My thought when seeing this was protoss was just trying to meme. I have done stupid crap like this in lower leagues as zerg. Build nothing but drones spines and spores and mass expand with defenses everywhere. Players will more often than not focus to hard on killing one base while I take like 3 more. It's honestly a stupid gameplan and relies on the multitasking and macro of the opponent to be bad for it to work, but I assure you it does.

@@BanAaron Not saying you are wrong, only want to add this as one last thing. You would be surprised how often when someone encounters something new like a weird rush or massing a non meta unit or something they perceive as stupid, then their whole gamelan is suddenly forgotten and they just start trying to freestyle a build in their overconfidence or confusion. The usually correct answer would be stay calm and follow your build order/macro up. In the heat of the moment though people will make mistakes.

The Zerg player is because not enough Protoss at lower elo ever build a forge so ling runbys do far more damage than they should, Its very common to see Zerg players with less than a week experiance in masters. Every pro agrees that getting Zerg into GM is much faster than the other two races. As for the Protoss he was doing the build 120 drones before you build any units challenge.

The protoss was probably a smurf, the zerg, idk. He must've gone off his game plan and panicked

3950MMR is Diamond 2 on EU... Harstem was off. Its a long way from top Diamond considering the massive skill difference over the whole league.

I stopped playing a long time ago, used to be high masters but im 99% sure i could play much better than this after years of not playing. Diamond used to be better than this back in my days.

As to what to improve on: take 2 lings and shift click every base location to scout? If you had done that, you would have found and could have taken out all of his super undefended bases with ease. Oh, ans spend the larva. You could have produced workers without sacrificing lings...you had unused larva all the time ;)

​@@genericnameinc When toss did build hidden base i was going into his base with 6 start lings, so i didnt had any free lings at that point, and even when i did shift click every base it dont show me every base cause ling comes into closest cannon and dies. Anyhow, he did build it at 3:10 and i did scout it at 7:10 and i did destroy it at 10 minute mark, so why do you think its scout problem, it surely not, toss base is just op, it defends wave after wave cause toss player did outplay me and did build 2 cannons pog. Bottom base is kind of joke cuz i had so much lings going through this base and they didnt scout it And now for larva, both times when Harstem said about larva i did spend all my resources right after it, even Serral can have 13 larva sometimes in a game, its fine. And i didnt build workers not cause of larva issue, but minerals, i did aggressive push at low worker count, like imagine to do 12 pool and then build 2 lings and go for drones, thats what you advicing. If i didnt build any of those lings i wont be able to stop this 10:30 o'clock base even at 10 minute mark. Thats ridic to me that lot of ppl actually think its not op to counter early aggression like ling bane flood with +1 attack by placing more nexuses(which i can see, you wont find any moment when i dont attack my opponent buildings for some time, i know about them, but i cant destroy them/or it takes too much time), most of you are probably protoss

No, the zerg was terrible. You do need good mechanics. The zerg is not good because he is in high diamond. He is in high diamond despite being so terrible, which would be an argument for zerg being OP, not the other way around. I don't know why you think he should be able to win with 40 drones and zergling/bane despite not having been under any pressure for the first 10 minutes. A zerg can have 80 drones and be maxed out by 7 mins. Starcraft 2 is not a strategy game. It's a colony building simulator. Only when you can build 80 drones, 5 bases by 8 mins, do you ever get to play a strategy game. But speaking of strategy, you have some fundamental misunderstandings about starcraft. Most diamond players scout, but early drone scout is neither needed nor good by default. Focus on not tripping. For scouting to actually work, you need to react to what your opponent is doing. The correct choice against a forge expand is to expand, drone up, then kill. That's what zergs do, and that is why nobody goes forge fast expand. The 6 zerglings going in was a terrible mistake in the first place. You lose all your zerglings and map control, have sacrifice more drones, and can't scout and deny bases. More importantly, he sat on 800 minerals the whole time microing like he is serral. That's a whole minute of resources, by the 2 minute and 30 second mark! He deserved to lose at that point. When he finally scouted the expansions which he should have denied with his zerglings, he should have droned up, build roaches, then killed them. Instead, he killed more drones by building zerglings and banelings instead and tried to baneling bust. Zerglings cost larvae, and he didn't have very many because he didn't build 2 extra bases or inject very well because he was too busy microing 3 zerglings against probes. His micro mistakes weren't small. They were beyond idiotic. After smashing through the main base, he morphed his zerglings into banelings to kill probes. He did this multiple times. His losses weren't small, nor were they affordable since he had 0 economy. Every 2 zergling is a drone. Early banelings are just stupid, are expensive as hell, and kills your economy because you need to mine gas. Oversplitting his army is by definition bad. After busting spending an ungodly amount of economy to bust the main, he needed to send in his whole army to try to destroy the tech and 2 bases, and not allow the protoss to rebuild the wall. The protoss had nothing in the base, but he didn't know that. He criticized him when there were 1 pylon and 2 cannons and 1 shield battery. But let's test you. Is it better for the banelings to go into the defense, and allow the zerglings to kill the probes, or to send your banelings into the probes? With not building the spore, why is your view to defend him despite not having any idea what he is doing? If he was not expecting oracles... first of all, WHY NOT? Is his plan just to die if the protoss chose one out of three units he could build? And do you really think this zerg has the timing down pat to know exactly when a void ray would come? What was a higher priority at that point? Anything else, whatever is coming out of those 4 stargates? Yes, he started those spores the moment he saw the oracles coming to his base. I don't understand how you can conclude that meant he was "thinking about it". He clearly wasn't, and only realized it after seeing the oracles. He saw 4 stargates building and he just... forgot about them. Attention deficit zerg at the finest. He should have had 6 queens at that point, but he didn't. He should have built spores immediately. Roach warren should have came 6 mins earlier. He threw his banelings to get hit by the cannons the most amount of times possible, then into a nexus. He was supposed to go from the other side, and not through his cannons to slightly damage a nexus. Or even go elsewhere to attack a less defended base. He had 8 workers because he only ever built like 30. So if you've identified that that is bad, why do you think that only building 30 is acceptable? The zerg never had the protoss' economy, and is almost never anywhere close, despite killing 100 probes, so NOT even. The protoss had a scary army, while the zerg had a few zerglings and banelings. The protoss' build hard counters nothing other than attention deficit zergs who only got into platinum because they 16 pool and lower level protoss/terrans don't build walls. The zerg lost because he belongs in gold/silver league, and is up against an actual diamond player because good mechanics trumps bad ones. The zerg was never ahead, and could never have won because he was a silver/gold player. With the way you're talking, I'd almost think you were that zerg player trying to justify himself with another name.

He scouted at 2 mins with the Ovi... and the ling run-in soon after. That should've told him exactly where he was in the game and that he had time to play normal & drone up. The problem is even before that he was floating huge money, so yeah maybe not safe lol. Games without builds are so random.

The guy can't handle a supply of 50 without floating massively, what point is there telling him to build more drones?

There was a PvT where this came up also, tank was walled in and the stalkers took the longest route possible to get hit by the tank instead of just walking next to the factory and sniping it in two volleys

you missed the entire point of his advice which was path routing. he couldve kept 4 instead of 3 which is 25% extra killed

like lowko said "yea I played badly but did I relly play worse than my opponent" and while yes no game is perfect you are always going to have those little unfair interactions but I do not think that it is in anyway ludicrous to say that especially against zerg skytoss, ground toss and toss in genreals strategies are on average easier to play than they are to counter.
