This video explains in detail the solution to Problem 2-26 and Problem 2-27 in the Chapter of Force Vectors from the book Engineering Mechanics: Statics by R.C. Hibbeler 15th Edition. In Problem 2-26, the magnitude and direction of Fa force are calculated when the direction and magnitude of the resultant force are given. However, in Problem 2-27, the resultant and magnitude of the resultant force is calculated when the magnitude and direction of the forces acting at O is given.
Statement of Problem 2-26 is as follows:
Determine the magnitude and direction θ of FA so that the resultant force is directed along the positive x-axis and has a magnitude of 1250 N.
Statement of Problem 2-27 is as follows:
Determine the magnitude of the resultant force acting on the ring at O, if FA = 750 N and θ = 45°. What is its direction, measured counterclockwise from the positive x-axis?
