I was one of those kids. GOD sent people like you into my life. Those seeds that were planted into my life have followed me into my adult life. Life was terrible at home but people like you showed me that there was a better life out there. THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR THOSE KIDS!!

You have hit on so many things for these young boys. Maybe you can become a mentor to a few of them along life's path. God does put people, in this case children in our path that may need a loving hand to guide them along life's journey. Yes we have a hurting nation full of children that need help, who have never been taught to love or respect others or have not received from home. It's a hard life for them. There is no easy fix as family values have been torn from the fabric of life itself. Thanks for sharing your experience.

This is why my husband and I volunteer for an organization called "Sleeps in Heavenly Peace". We build beds for kids who are sleeping on the floor. Our slogan is "no kid sleeps on the floor in my town". It breaks your heart to know how many kids have no bed to sleep in at night. We have chapters all across America, Canada. We always needs more volunteers as the need is truly great.

I know how these kids felt. I was raised in a domestic home. My mom left us. My little sister was still breastfeeding. My mother had no choice but to leave us there. Later we we’re taking to an older grandmother. She raised us. We used to have nothing to eat. I was a mom to my little. I used to milk a goat to feed my little sister. Sometimes I give her my meals so she won’t cry at night. I wish these kids a blessing. I will keep them in my prayers. I’m 59 now. I love every kids.

Your statement, "we are failing our kids", is so true. It isn't just in the US. My kids were raised in Australia, and there is now an epidemic of kids stealing cars in Melobourne, and I now live in France near Paris, and recently kids were in the Paris streets burning cars and breaking store windows. It is not just in OK, CA, WA, IL. It is a world wide epidemic of parents not engaging with their kids and it is no different than the owner of those roaming dogs just allowing things to happen without responsibility.

What you fail to realize is that you already made a difference. You were there. You showed up and provided guidance, structure and comfort. Why do you think you always had at least one glued to your side? It may have been brief BUT, those kids will never forget that pillow fight. Try not to carry the burden alone, you simply cannot . Hey Daniel, I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for being a great father and family man. Sharing your experience at the Goddard youth camp touched my heart. God works in mysterious ways, and who knows what God has in store for you. Maybe this is the beginning of something God wants you to be involved in. Allow God to speak to your heart and show you what he has for you. I am an 86 year old man who with the help of a Christian wife raised two daughters who are Christians and my grandchildren are Christians as well. Most of the problems in the world today is the result of the breakdown in the home. May God use you in whatever way he sees fit.

That was a deep video. Thank you for being such an amazing persn Daniel. My Grandmoter was a teacher for 30+ years, she had many kids that did not have much, some came to school in gunny sacks due to their parents worked the cotton fields, they did not have money to buy clothes for their kids. Grandma made clothes and would bring them to the houses, and she would bring food to them too. My Grandma was an amazing woman. I too am worried about the kids of today. Not enough being done nor resources shamefully not there for these kids and their homes. We have to take care of our children. ♥

I was a sub for kindergarten at one of our county school! I live in East Tennessee and many of our students had never been out of our county ! So when it came snack time and most kids had their money, several didn’t ... so I would give them money for a snack ! Not bragging or wanting any pats on the back ... But I could not set there and see some kids with snack and others without ! My husband said “You are substantiating for nothing , but at least those kids are not going without “ ! This world gives to much to overseas children when there are so many in our own back door ! I’m not saying not to help others .. I just feel they should help our own area kids first ! I hope I’m not causing any issues here , just my thoughts !

I grew up in a cold household. I worked a lot as an adult and raised my daughter with a lot of rules. I thought I had shown my daughter a lot of love, but now that she’s an adult she said she didn’t always feel that. My parents were not good parents, but because I was able to see other parents I tried to be better. Now my daughter teaches me how to be better. It’s a struggle to make ends meet and sometimes parents are working so much that they don’t realize they are emotionally absent. We are our brothers keeper. On the dog situation, hopefully your city/county/town has a leash law. Paying fines for several dogs for not abiding by the leash law might get the owner’s attention. Your experience on the camping trip with Houston I’m sure was eye-opening for most of the father & mother hosts. Giving those children 3 days of fun is an experience some of those children have never had. We don’t know what the children in our neighborhoods live through behind closed doors. The school staff/teachers see so much more and can only do so much to help. Houston and Emily are blessed.

when I was a kid my neighbor who lived next to us shot our other neighbor's dog dead for invading his property. To be fair the neighbor who killed the dog had a lot of patience, he warned the other guy maybe 6-10 times to control his animals, it was some kind of pitbull mixed dog who killed a dozen of his chickens and it killed every single rabbit that my neighbor kept as well.

Where I live, the sheriff's department will not do anything about dogs. Your options are limited. Most organizations can't take any more dogs. And it's hard to get any help getting them a home or into a shelter. Your options are as follows take Them in and take care of them, or you can be a jerk and do what the owner who had them previously did dump them off, Or worst case scenario just playing shoot Them. Those options are not good.

Your kids are extremely lucky you're their Dad. Maybe some other kids could be extremely lucky to have you as a mentor. This is so on point Daniel! My Ex was a veteran police officer, someone he had a ‘gift’ for bumping into children who were in desperate NEED of just SOMEONE! We ended up befriending two young girls whose mother was just ‘off’ she didn’t seem to grasp that kids actually need a parent to do more than simply put a roof over their heads and feed them fast food. We also ‘adopted’ a 11 year old boy whose Brother was involved in drugs, (which is why my ex met them) and his mother thought we would be able to help steer her youngest in the right direction. Unsure why SHE couldn’t, but we happily accepted. These children had never been allowed to do ANYTHING, I will forever cherish their reactions the first time we took them fishing or the first time they got an honest to goodness HOME COOKED MEAL. Thing is we were firm, but we showed them LOVE and I sometimes think we were the first ones to ever really love them unconditionally. It didn’t depend on their chores (which we did have them do when they stayed with us) or anything other than the fact that they were just THEMSELVES. George passed away last year just 21 days shy of his retirement. He had a HORRIBLE accident in his skid steer. It absolutely devastated those (now adult) kids. I honestly believe that those experiences will never leave me. I know that we changed their lives for the better. God bless you for being a light in those children’s lives. You could have been their very first experience with what true Christianity is. I do not feel we have long at all until we are all taken home. We need to be busy spreading the word.

You hit the nail on the head. I work at a elementary school in Montana. I see what you seen on a daily basis. Our school district does backpack meals for over 30 kids each week. I also see the kids that are starving for attention. It is really hard to see this happening. My goal everyday is to reach out and touch 2 different kids a day and make a good impact on them. The smile that they get on there face is priceless. Great job for doing what you did in the kids life. Those kids are blessed for having you as there leader.

A word of advise on grass fires. If it happens, a tractor pulling a moldboard plow can turn over the grass into the soil in a wide enough area to stop a fire. The fire has to jump the fire break. Nothing to burn when the grass is turned under.

Yes, Daniel, I agree. I see this in Sunday School where the hurting children are seeking love and care. As a grandmother of 14, I'm setting an example of what a loving home should look like. My job as a grandmother is to pray, listen, and guide the Grands as they seek me for advice. Daniel, this is what you did for these boys watching from the sidelines. Daniel, you may be the only Godly man these boys have ever met. Believe me you made an impact on many lives. Thank you for being there

Daniel, the fact that those kids loved you should tell you that you are a great Dad and mentor! Houston is lucky to have you! There are a lot of fathers that don’t want to spend time with their kids and I totally agree that it’s a stinking shame! But men like you who show kids how life is supposed to be should be hailed as heroes! I’m so glad you went on the trip with Houston and you had a good time! Hello Daniel I’m 65 years old I have thought about talking to you about this same topic. But didn’t feel comfortable talking to you about it tell now. I left home at 14 to get away from the abuse it was vary hard along the way. Two years ago I had PTSD from what I went through. I always look to people like you to learn from. Now the reason I watch you is because I love watching how you raise your kids. It is vary comforting to watch and your kids are vary luck to have a MOM AND DAD LIKE YOU! I still struggle but have come so far and have JESUS in my life has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. So never stop doing what you do cause there are kids and adults that will see what you are doing and it will help. Also I love that your not afraid to talk about JESUS ON YOUR CHANNEL. I’m better and will never give up. I always fought hard to to get wear I’m now but could have never made it without JESUS and people like the arms family. I went to talk to someone who could help me a few years ago and spelled my guts. Things that had happened when I was about 3 give or take a little. I don’t talk about it anymore but now I don’t feel the way I’d for so many years and made so many poor choices. I also found out when I was there talking I had PTSD. That explains the anger and distrust I had for people I had no friends because that was safe for me. I could go on but i will stop here. But I will say I am most thankful for JESUS IN MY LIFE AND THE PEOPLE I LET IN NOW. God bless

I used to be a counselor for a 4-H camp 4 days in the summer. I was in high school during that time, and boy did that open my eyes. I had little girls in my cabin that seemed to go through the same things as you described. Things weren't great at home for them. One girl had an issue with wetting her pants day and night, but we made sure we were discreet in talking to her and washing her clothes. On pick-up day, her dad showed up on a Harley to pick her up with all of her stuff and it broke my heart because she had to leave all of her arts and crafts items behind and cried because there was nowhere to put them. All because dad decided to show up on a motorcycle.. I cried listening to you talking about this and really made me think of my camp counselor days.

Yes I cried for those children--thank you Daniel for bringing it to attention. It is up to all of us to help care, love and raise those children, they need prayers and when we see it, do all we can to show them who we are in CHRIST and be the models all for GOD'S glory. Daniel. I believe you have the perfect opportunity to mentor these kids. How about a monthly or bi-monthly weekend camp at Mill Creek. Teaching them how to fend for themselves. Teaching them skills they will never learn otherwise. How to use tools. How to build a fire and feed themselves. How to find resources. How to fish, grow a garden. DeJay could do the same at the house or her new retail place. The girls need as much skills learning as the boys. When my girls wanted a drivers license and a car, we taught them basic car maintenance and how to change a tire. Also taught them both how to drive stick shift. I told them your car may not be stick but if your with someone who does and they have an emergency, you have to know how. During these weekends I spoke about you could do some fellowship. The main focus would be self preservation. Learning respect and community. ❤ BTW I can just see the kids doing a community garden in you hi tunnel 😊

I am 56 now. We were abused in every way imaginable and neglected by our mother and every man she brought around. She disappeared for weeks at a time and free lunch was all we received. We dreaded summer because we didn’t eat. I went to foster homes several times but was always returned. No one helped us. I told teachers, counselors, anyone who would listen and nothing happened. Eventually we all shut up. What was the point? I left home at 15 and slept on friends couches till I married at 19. I determined my kids would never know that life. They are all grown now and successful. Please….if you see something, DO something! They are desperate to escape!!! They just don’t know how and many have lost hope. All we wanted was love, security and to have food at least once a day. I am grateful to the Lord for seeing me through and blessing me to be able to show my children the love they deserved. God help all those who right now are hurting.

These children just need for you and everyone to show them kind and loving attention. They crave it because they don't get it at home. I learned the hard way that I can't help them all but a kind word, a smile and a soft touch or hug gives these children so much more than you can ever imagine. They carry that with them. You did well and they will remember you.

I'm 74 now, & so agree with you. I ask God if only every child could only grow up in a great Christian family with the wonderful parents I had growing up. Of course like the dogs, we live in an imperfect world where every human child & unwanted uncared for pet will not have the best love & care we give ours. Yes, we are losing & only prayer is our answer for now. You & Dejay raise my hopes by your example of parents like mine. Thank you for sharing my feelings & prayers.

What hurt me the most was teenagers showing up at our home so they had a place to sleep...the amount of 17 -18 yrs olds locked out of their homes or kicked out permanently on the day of their 18th birthday was crazy. It broke my heart 💜. And any child that gets to spend time with you is definitely a blessing. Big hugs from this Mama bear.

Those boys are so blessed by having you with them three days. I was a Counselor for 5 girls ages 9-10 in my home town. They all came from single parents or grandparents only households. You do what you can, when you can and yes, they are forgotten. Regardless of the situations they faced each day at camp, the acting out became obvious when time to go home. They were " Latched" kids to any adult who showed them kindness, interaction, empathy, laughter and joyfullness. This all happened back in 1986, and has never gotten better.

Being there for kids is a huge contribution. My uncle took time away from his family to spend time with me after my Dad died. I was 10 years old at the time. That uncle just passed away a few months ago. He was in his 80s. What a positive impact he made in my life for all the years that passed in between. He loved me. That was huge. Being an example for kids who don't have positive role models in their lives can impact them in countless ways. Bless you, Daniel. Thanks for making yourself available to those children.
