Hey Guys, Stubbzy here!
Second session in the book! Was a little up and down this session and looking back at the footage I'm not happy with my release and theres some key things I need to tidy up first before I think I'll be able to get into a position to release the ball the way I want.
This session has some important coaching insights as well as how to handle frustration and when the coaching isn't working the way you want.
Any questions please drop them in the comments below, I make every effort to answer everyone.

It is something you've mentioned before on insta many times , , which is how the previous movement affects movements afterwards. Just isolating something and looking at it isn't gonna help and is gonna lead us away unless we look at the previous movements as well. So the emphasis on a smooth run up, which would then affect the jump ,gather, release point and finish, is definitely a big takeaway
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 2 года назад
That’s it mate! That’s a big part of the analysis process. Breaking down movement to determine if there’s an inefficient movement that leads to an undesirable compensation. I love hearing your learnings mate! You’ll make a great coach one day of you ever wanted to jump into that.

Great content mate. Just a little request to make a video explaining cues to correct cross base alignment and do we run straight or slightly outside angle as been a hip dominant bowler ? Btw love that non bowling arm cue (palm facing towards batsman) it really helps me out mate. 👍

Hey mate! Really glad you're enjoying the content. There is no 'cue' to solve a cross aligned base. Your perception of the coaching process is lacking in context. As we first need to analyse a bowler to find out "WHY" they are cross aligning. It's only when we know WHY a bowler is moving in an ineffective manner that we can then look at intervening. I'd then discuss a cue/constraints with the bowler to target their individual flaw within their individual coaching plan. When I have a bowler who does this and if i film it for this Masterclass series I can show some insights that will be specific to them that you can learn from. But what you're asking for doesn't really exist given there is no universal cue for all fast bowlers who suffer the same flaw. Also id suggest chatting with Steffan and purchasing his programs. I don't use his classification as thats Steffan's coaching model. Only he can appropriately coach it.

Looks like a good session mate. At around the 19-20minute mark, you start to gather yourself a bit higher (high right hand, before taking off), which seemed to be missing earlier. At 20:50, there's the best one of the series, very relaxed, fluent and more in synch with your action. Further down, at 25:30 you bowled "your favorite back of a length", where the followthrough is a bit wild, but everything else just seemed to click really nice
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 2 года назад
Thats probably what i felt with the follow through being different. Cheers for the thoughts mate! It did feel like i was raising higher and bringing it down faster. I felt the faster down part more like i was cocking the ball next to my hip which was something i used to do. (Watching Brett Lee) I definitely enjoyed the energy and rhythm towards the back end of the session. And that follow through I was qwuite happy with seeing how much energy I got through the crease. But my hips didnt rotate enough so you could see me move inward as Im balancing myself. I'll be working on some better alignment as that'll help with the release point, rear leg rotation and snap and then get me following through nice and straight.

Yeah that “having 17 different techniques” thing is also common to me because whenever I see a good fast bowler in TV, I tend to subconsciously copy somethings of his action for following days. That frustrates me most of the times because I am chopping and changing constantly even without knowing and then rhythm evades me completely. (I think those last few balls bought the hungry fast bowler to the surface above the caring coach. That’s some feeling isn’t it? 🔥)
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 2 года назад
Its a tough one mate! i always encourage bowlers to learn, but learning first starts with having an understanding of your own technique. So you can then look for examples to help you. Instead of copying someone without any context or understanding of how it will apply int your action. Haha that passion is in all of us!
@tinurasamudith-tsbr3176

@@TheFastBowler That’s right, because when you copy mindlessly, you end up having no own technique at all.

Are you at all focused on the back foot landing angle ie front on side on or mixed. Do you think the back foot contact angle impacts the passive / active leg?
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 2 года назад
You cant really break the rear leg down to just its angle and associate it with being passive. As its more important to look at how the foot then moves through its plant phase (when the foot is on the ground). You'd also look at the hip and see if the player is able to internally rotate so they can square their pelvis at their target. What I'll find is my foot will start to face further forward as i progress how fast i run in. And Im happy with that!

Looked to me that your best bowling (at the end of the video) was performed when you were thinking of NOTHING ELSE but energy behind the ball. This is probably as a result of your mind being clearer. This may not be how you felt, just something I thought about when watching...
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 2 года назад
Hey mate! That’s a really good point, and that’s the intention every ball. To have a clear focus on one cue that works well. It took me a little problem solving throughout the session to get to that point. Which is all part of the process. I wish I could skip straight to the end 😂 But I hope by sharing the journey it gives some great insights.
