Toro snowblower quick stick and wheel locks not locking. I found that the cables freeze which makes the chute and Wheel lock cables not work correctly. After moving them around and bringing it the garage to warm up they work fine. The cute won't lock and swings freely and the wheel locks won't lock because the cables don't slide in the sleeve when frozen.

I have a toro power max 826(only one season on it) and ran into the exact same problem two days ago,a week ago i used it was slightly above the freezing mark and very wet snow, two days ago the temperature got very cold and the stick will no longer lock, the chute swings whatever direction it wants, i found the problem to be the chute assembly itself, i loosened the top plastic cover near the chute and push it out of the way(one screw on top), inside there is a spring loaded latch that locks a gear in place, that latch was frozen in the open position so the gear and chute swung freely, i thawed it and it locked back in place, i lubed it with fluid film to stop water getting in it and its working fine now, just thought i would put that out there, i checked all cables and they were operating freely

Use silicone spray lubricant on every moving part. It helps with ice freezing on moving parts.

Came across the chute problem first time this fall when taking it out of the shed to check it out. What I’ve found so far is the chute lever itself, the lock release button sticks. I took the lever out completely and used it. No cables attached. The button sticks down. I ordered a new handle. We’ll see how that works. I did clean and lubricate the handle and did not work. It’s like the lever inside the chute handle is swollen and no longer free to move.

All you have to do it loosen the nut and bolt attached on top of the chute, press down blue lever and lift up chute with right hand until teeth is inserted with other, tilt head to see what your doing once it’s in your going to have to re tighten nut and bolt

Has anyone had an issue with the Chute not adjusting Up or down? Mine turns right and left and locks in place just fine. But There isn't an adjustment for getting the chute to work up and down.

my chute won't lock into place, period....goes where ever it wants which of course is straight ahead mostly. I had to run it one hand on blower and one hand on chute. I was hoping you would shed light on that.

It happen to me too for a bit. You might need a new cable.

Check your cable clamp bolt (5/16?) There's just a simple bolt that holds that cable in place and I found that it allows the cable to slide and therefore does not lock in the turnstile.

I have the 1028 and was wondering if you are supposed to push the blue button when adjusting chute angle or just press the blue button when turning the chute from side to side.

The blue button unlocks it from the position the shute is in. You need to push the blue button to turn the shute and to move the flap up and down

Same thing happen to mine. My cable was frayed right under the joy stick. I have a 4 year warranty on my machine. They fixed it for free. It needed a new cable. The cable was $30. I will make a video on it in the next two weeks

My chute won’t move up and down

My QXE 824 has done that from day one. The chute swings back and forth and will not lock in place. It has only been used twice. Kind of disappointing.

You need to tighten the spring screw that’s underneath the black cover where it turns up front.

@@pagodad2036 I took a closer look at it and the part that slips into the teeth of the gear (under the black cover just before the chute) is not engaging enough. It barely touches the teeth. If I push on it, it will engage properly, but otherwise it kind of just rides on the edge of the teeth of the gear. Will the adjustment you are talking about fix that? Are you referring to the black cover where the blue handle is? Thanks.
