I remember a time when you regularly crossed to the Bahamas and back on a 17 foot center console with no air conditioner. Thank you for the excellent videos, Captain. Stay safe!
Yes, captain, that was the hard days. But I have great memories but now with air conditioning. I think I forgot about those hard days. LOL thanks for watching.😁👍🎣🛥
No one said it has to be pretty. Gotta do whatever it takes. Also, it shows what a good paint job you did on the generator. It didn't even peel! Glad you are back home!
Thank you, captain and yes opening the generator like that was a fast decision. I had to make in the pain job. You're right, it's a good 1 LOL, thank you for watching captain. 👍
Another great video cap. You are a considerate yachtsman going slow no wake past that dock. Too many inconsiderate ppl have no idea how much wake problems they make. Safe voyages. Hope some day to make that crossing.
Yup I remember your 17 footer too you've come a long way cap...congrats! Murphys Law is always in effect especially at sea but as they say hope for the best but prepare for the worst. A/c is well worth the minor damage to the unit 👍. You may want to consider utilizing the kill switch safety lanyard when it gets rough and your bouncing around the cabin. I have the same pilot house and when it gets real rough you can easily bang your head on the roof of the pilot house and God forbid loose consciousness. Or just slow down as you suggested. Anyway, another great video keep em coming and stay safe!
Very true cap. And yes im wearing a electronic kill switch but it only works if i falling overboard, great point about banging your head cap. Yhanks for watching and looking out for me😉👍🛥⚓️
Sometimes you have to do certain things, Cap. Quick fix. It has been a great generator for you. Glad you made it back home safely. The First Mate is waiting for her fresh fish filets.
You got that right! Jeffrey she will eat good and yes this generator has given me great use , thanks for coming along my trip cap, and see you in the next one .😉👍⚓
Round here we got Parker boats same design enclosed wheelhouse cuddy etc except the out board is on like a plateform or jack plate and im not keen on that but yours i like cause outboards off transom
Yes, captain, in the past. I didn't have air conditioning and it was miserable now everything changes is Like a dream, thank you, captain for watching.
Love the video, it is funny how quickly we become accustomed to the creature comforts like A/C. lol😆 I totally get it the older I get the less discomfort Im willing to endure as well.
Good fix Capt. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. I would much rather watch you. then the shit that’s on tv today . Prop clear. Stay safe out there
Crooked Pilot House eats well on the water! Dang... You got me Hungry fixing food for the day! Love the Drone footage you added to your channel 👍 VERY Educational on Cruising/Prop Efficiency 👍... Keep doing that. Many of us want to do the FL to Bahamas Trek in our smaller boat sizes like yours but NEVER would dare😵... Until we started watching ... Out on the Reef! Thanks for the education.
You're awesome, buddy, thank you for your comment. Every motivates me, because I'm helping others to go out there and have some fun and travel out of the country. Thank you for being an awesome viewer of the channel and see you out there on the water, captain.👍🛥🎣😉
Here is an Idea... How about leading a group of like minded boaters who have always wanted to Cross the water from FL to the Bahamas and show us how to do it safely. This could be a business..??? @@OutOnTheReef
@colemant6845 yes great odea cap. But i can never plan my teips i always leave the las minute because of weather thats why i dont make plans with other boaters 😢
Lol cap.😁👍👍🎣and yes Ape was the word Because sometimes my wife tells me that I do open things like that. LO l, thanks for watching captain. See you on the next one.
Hey cap good field fix to the gen to get it started. Gotta say tho I was a little nervous for ya watching you out of the seat alone and running at speed in bumpy conditions without a tether kill cord (I know you use a remote one). Just worried if you fell and unconscious in the pilot house motor wouldn’t shut off till you hit Florida. Stay safe out there. We love the vids. 👍😎
Lol thanks cap. If that court went inside the generator it was very hard to get it out. Fast, and yes, my setup is more economical, especially on boats And I have installation videos that I made and may help you if you want to do something similar to mine, captain and if you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you for watching and always navigate, safe captain.
You could get a 36v inverter to run your Air conditioner when your generator is down or at night. 36v 100ah battery can run your AC continuously for 5hrs. Generously assuming it never cycles off. Figuring your AC burns 500w running and another 100w for blowers. 600w continuous is 5hrs.
I have 300 amp lithium batteries on board for the minkota. But I leave those batteries for emergency. Just in case my engine fails, but thank you for your awesome suggestion, captain.
Awesome video as always. Oye… el cholesterol 😂😂😂. I’m glad you got the generator going.
If you had your ultimate dream boat, would it be something very simular to your boat? If you were to get larger, wouldn't it preclude you from getting as close to the islands? What features would you want in this dream boat that you do not have now? It's a great show, I never miss an episode.
hello cap. and if i had to purchased another boat i would like it to be a close transom so that way i would have a little more deck space and probably 2 200 hp yamaha engines instead of just 1 but im happy with the Crooked PilotHouse since new boats like that one are like $150k 😔 thanks for always watching my channel cap, and have a awesome day 😉👍👍⚓☕
Have you seen the shock absorber helm chairs used in some Scandinavian boats? Your ride would be much, much kinder to your back and kidneys and more comfortable in choppy water sitting in one of them.
Hello cap. And yes i have a seashock chair without it there no way i can navigate this boeat, it really help And thank you for your great suggestion captain see you in the next video👍🎣🛥
LO l, captain, that will be a nice addition to the boat. Thanks for the suggestion. The only bad thing is only bigger generators have electric starts not the small one🤣
Ok….going with the theory of trim up to reduce drag and improve mileage, when are you installing retractable foils on your vessel? I’ve seen your craftsmanship and know you could figure it out! Imagine the gas savings!
Very true, the screws are from the other side, but some screws you need to open one lid and go from the inside to open. The overhead it's very complicated. I've tried this already many times it is very hard to open it up. Thank you for the suggestion captain
Love your videos so relaxing, when your boat is topped up with fuel what is the range of it when doing 25mph,how many gallons does the tank hold, much appreciated
Hello cap. And the boat carries 90 gallons and fully loade in great sea at 25 mph i can do 3.1 MPG with the right propeller but at rough seas i can do abo2.7 to 2.8 Thank for watching cap
Hey Capt.... Just saying hi before I watch the video... It just popped in and I wanted to be the first to 'comment' ☺!! Edit; Where there is a will, there is a way. I knew you would find a way to get the air conditioner working! EDIT 2: lol when saying opening like an 'ape', and lol when showing the costs with 'wife's' credit card! I'll bet the there is one combined bank account! ☺
Lol cap. Yes is combined 😉 and yes i opened like a Ape And I thought I could not get it fixed if it goes back into the Pulley system And sorry you have to see me open that generator like that. Captain. I know you're very particular on your equipment LO. L.😉👍
hey capt nice ..jungle fix..to the generator. Seems to me if the air conditioner is so important then perhaps you need to think about stowing a back up you could tie it down behind the bench seat backrest perhaps or somewhere forward if you leave the gas out until you need it keep up the great vids! blue waters and soft breezes to you!
Yes, you're right, captain. But the price is very high, especially for use it on the saltwater environment then, unless that long, but yes definitely better.
You really need to find a group of experienced boaters. It would help you a lot with all your skills. You are beating yourself up every crossing either going to fast, using autopilot when it may not be best, and not trimming boat properly. I wish you luck but be open to some help.
Hello, captain and the reason I don't use my train taps too much is because they kill my fuel economy. If you bring the bow down. It makes more drag on the boat. But it's a comfortable ride. But I am on the budget on this trip. So I can keep coming back captain . Thank you for watching and see you out there captain
@@OutOnTheReefyou are going to break something or hurt yourself. You also can’t properly see what’s ahead or your instruments with all the pounding. Having to stand away from the helm. The autopilot most likely is not doing you favors either. Direct route is not always the fastest and does not account for wind wave direction. In small boats you can improve a lot with trim throttle and manual input while traveling the best heading given the conditions. You are taking lots of risk for “saving” fuel. Have you ever done a real test of the difference?
Hey Capt Crooked nice trip. I’m going start opening my ryobi generator like your emergency door opener a craftsman screwdriver. You should try trimming down your tabs a little to go through the waves and it won’t slam the hull so hard or as much. Also you think u slick w wife’s card, what you don’t know is she’s going to charge triple on yours that you left in your socks drawer. Wife’s know everything. 😂😂 JT HOOKED N ROLLING OFFSHORE 🇺🇸🇺🇸🐠🐟🎣🛥
LOL captain. Yes, most likely she used my car to go shopping when I was out.🤣 And yes, if I trim the boat. It will definitely do that. But it will kill my fuel economy. That's why I keep the bow up. Sometimes thanks for the suggestion captain, you're awesome.
