great analysis and I do agree the SSL native plugins are amazing - but there's a major problem with your method of listening critically to processed audio and in particular the use of X-Saturation. you need to gain match RMS level, the perceived loudness, and not digital peak level. things like saturation and distortion are wonderful in allowing you to gain massive amounts of RMS and perceived loudness while keeping the same peak level. near the end of the video you do end up compensating the RMS increase from X-Saturation with the gain knob in the X-EQ but in an ideal world you would be compensating directly within X-Saturator so you can properly A/B a single plugin without relying on gain cuts/boosts in processors further down the chain. sorry for the long message but hoping it helps anyone who comes across this.
