I bought one. I’ll be doing a whole bunch. We’ll see the endurance when I’m through. Seems like these guys are the OG innovators on this.

We use a bloodless cull method. We suggest using thumb and forefinger to quickly snap the neck instead of cutting. Talk to your bird... thank him for his life and thank God for providing for your family, then a quick Yank until you feel the spine separate from the skull. (~5lb force). Amen!

Thank you for your comment. As mentioned previously, we prefer cervical disarticulation, the method you describe. This video is a product review and follows the machine manufacturers instructions. We have found both to be humane and effective. For those preferring meat with less blood this method may be more effective. Our family has a prayer similar to yours that we use but, like most tribal families, it would be inappropriate for us to include the exact wording as ceremonies are personal/private and not for public display.

More humane and quicker to just pull their heads off. Pretty easy too, not much effort needed.

@skulkcraftstudio that was a really long way of saying "you think it's more cruel because it seems more brutal". Watch the heads after removal of both methods. Often the more brutal method is the faster and more humane course of action.

@skulkcraftstudio thank you for your response. I'll admit I was a bit candid in my summary of your first response as I found it to be more of a letter or professional email format rather than the typical short and succinct comment section response. Admittedly, my male brain found a certain tax in the drawn-out and detailed description of your answer as well. A tonal miscommunication of the masculine and feminine over typed speech. I agree with you that methods and their effectiveness will vary from instance to person. I'm glad you've done your due diligence and experimented to find your most effective procedure. I simply wanted to share mine as my experience taught me its performance as best over the others. I do appreciate your candor, and I hope to express to you my own sincerity in a last word of advice. We need more farmers and ranchers like you in the world. If we did, the relationship between human and animals could be so much more than product and business. I faced a conundrum myself during my first few cullings. My thoughts led me to this "If I provide these birds a decent life of good food, water and a cool place from the heat of summer, warmth from the cold of winter, and safety and peace from predators, with the occasional live cricket feeding and dust baths every few days, ended by a quick and nearly painless death, then it's not so cruel to raise them for healthy nutritional sustenance for myself and others." I hope you don't feel too badly when it comes time to harvest some of your flock. Feel good about the welfare you've provided to them. Especially if we are to compare you and yours to any commercial farm and their lack of care or even compassion towards another living creature.
