I thought it was clean after the first scrub 😂 I would love for her to come deep clean my house. You never realized how dirty things like cupboards/walls get when you are younger. No one warned me I would have to clean weird stuff like that when I grew up. I want a refund 😂
@@get.sassyxdAmen, who was gonna tell me the kitchen cabinets get damn near as dirty as the counter top??😭😭 I went thru my kitchen with a black light and I wanted to burn it all down😂
This was SO ENLIGHTENING! What an interesting way to look at procrastination!! And sooo accurate!! This is causing me to rethink my daily actions, Brogan. Thank you for this!!
@@RLaraMoore I personally never reasoned that way though. I didn't want to procrastinate. But I just felt...idk, stuck. And I couldn't figure out why it was so hard NOT to procrastinate. This video helped me a lot because it helped me to realize that I was basically giving my brain a reward, or a positive reinforcement if you will, for procrastinating. That helped me see why it was so hard to stop procrastinating. And I've already been implementing less "reward" for my brain. I've actually gotten a bit more done. I do have some serious physical health issues to deal with so it's slow going, but slow going is better than almost "stop" lol.
@@ShellyCline Thank you for sharing. My opposite expression is a facetious teasing I laugh at myself. My nature as a child was joyful obedience, pleasing my parents and teachers, ...do my honest best at things. Of course, as is normal for all humans, we also want to do what we like to do and not have to do what we don't enjoy doing. So, selfishly we often choose to 'not do' (which develops into the habit of procrastination as the video describes). Currently I'm suffering from chronic pain after spinal surgery a decade ago. And other life losses that have left me feeling emotionally isolated and physically frustrated from not being able to function as I used to be able to do. But, I do remember when I could do my house chores and extra projects and hobbies, with the adult maturity of discipline and "delayed gratification". That is where the 'gold' is to teaching yourself not only to avoid procrastinating, but to advance to letting your mind and heart learn to be joyfully 'rewarded' at the end of your task. Which then gives you the advantage of learning to enjoy and _prefer_ choosing to not procrastinate. Prior to my injuries (caused by a drunk driver), when I was able to endure working on a task for more than 15 minutes, I would be very disciplined and dedicated to completing my project...like say, sorting out the spice cupboard or deep cleaning the refrigerator. Afterwards, for days after, I would 'reward' myself be just intentionally going back to open the cupboard and just admire the good job I accomplished. And each time I would reach for a now easy to find and use spice, I would feel that joy too. That was how I remember it _can be._ Not only to nOT procrastinate, but to feel proud of myself and well "rewarded" being disciplined to tackle the tasks as a joyful thing to do. You might like Scott Peck's book: "The Road Less Traveled" It's usually available free online or maybe even here as an audiobook on RU-vid. And scripture. The Bible is full of excellent psychology helps on human nature. Especially the book of Proverbs. 🙏
Yeah I agree with this but I often find myself procrastinating with stuff I don’t like doing I find myself bored or desperate when scrolling I mean hell I think I would stare at a wall to procrastinate if no one questioned it. I even procrastinating making art or playing video games because I just don’t want to make a decision (not the only reason tho) it sucks but I think it’s a mental (illness, maybe) problem but it creates stress just from sitting so I just wanted to say this because there’s a lot of mental illnesses that literally have a block stopping them from doing anything! You can try helping with different solutions but it’s not going to be as easy as just knowing what your doing and stop it you need a plan and action, don’t be afraid to switch it up. I hope you (meaning anyone who reads this) has an amazing day/night and week, good luck with cleaning task or relaxation you need both ❤
@@Raven74408 Yeah I’ve noticed the symptoms of adhd but I keep overthinking and bring up contradictions but having a mental war of differing opinions is another symptom. Honestly I probably should get a diagnosis it would bring some peace of mind. Thanks for saying a diagnosis has helped you, a bunch of my family has shown symptoms so I’ve wondered what was normal or neurotypical behavior so it would be great to clarify with a professional.
Videos like this are a great thing to start and set next to the sink and wash a couple dishes, though. Or gather up your laundry into the right place. It's easier to do a mindless task when you can have something occupying your mind
This is all absolutely true, but the problem still remains. We procrastinate because it DOES work…until it doesn’t. But it’s a habit I’ve personally found impossible to break thus far.
Where are you located? I know of a friend of a family member who is in her 80s battling breast cancer after loosing her husband. She could really us the help but is in CA. She has no family and is really struggling physically her plumbing is not working either. She does not want anyone in her home ever she is very ashamed. She would be upset I even mentioned it bit I don't know her personally. If you know of any resources at all I'd love anything I cam get.
If she has no access to running hot water, 2 cheap kettles will be just as good. She can use those and just clean a bit each day until she feels that her home is at a level where she can let people in. It doesn't have to be perfect by any means, most workmen will tell you that there is nothing they haven't seen. If at all possible, she should also try and exercise every day to strengthen her body and her mind. There are workouts that you can do in a chair or even in bed. This will help her to feel strong enough to clean. But if she can't do this, then the cleaning can be her exercise.
@@djlivvy46 am I missing something? Nothing was said about not having hot water. And I understand you're trying to help, but this woman is not only fighting cancer, she's in her 80s!!! It's EXTREMELY unlikely she can do ANY cleaning OR exercising. Even in bed!!
@@ShellyCline - if her plumbing is not working, then I would assume that she doesn't have access to hot water? Clearly she has a lot of physical issues, but any kind of exercise no matter how small would be physically & mentally beneficial to her. I'm obviously not expecting her to jump up and do a full workout! Women of her generation were built a lot tougher than those that came after. I think trying to do anything at all would be better for her than remaining in her present situation.
Have you done a video describing and showing the specific products you use and what they're best for cleaning? I need to know all these products and those little happy face scrubbers??? 😂
This was both an enlightening and a guilt induced video, as I'm procrastinating folding the basket of laundry sittng in front of me 😂 Also, what was that powder she put down the sink?
I need a cleaner like this in RI, I've done as much as I could. We have mouse droppings and my wife had a bone marrow transplant. I've tried cleaning everything myself.
The one time i DIDN'T procrastinate on a paper in college I got a low b. Also the lowest grade I ever got on a paper in my life. It works so well that I can't stop. That's insanity
…..I feel like the universe is trying to tell me something by showing me this as I’m procrastinating on studying for my final exam tomorrow by scrolling through RU-vid /nm😅😂 I’m going to go study; thank you for calling me out and metaphorically kicking me to get my butt in gear!! /gen
The good thing is that you can actually strengthen that part of the brain. It's not going to be easy but just start with a small thing and build on it. The hardest part is getting started everyday. Set an alarm or two and force yourself to get up and get something done. A few dishes getting washed here and there, a load of laundry started, or an empty Wal-Mart bag or little trash bag filled with trash can literally help you change your brain.
But, but, but!!!! I can justify my avoidance and procrastination by watching channels like yours that motivate me and teach me a few cleaning hacks making me a faster, better cleaner so I can sit on my butt and procrastinate even more! See?!!!😂
Thank you so much, I’ve currently got a depression room situation going on and my mom is a cleaner so she is going to help me clean my room but even knowing I have her help I am still procrastinating doing it and was going to ask her to start another day but this helped me remember I just need to do it 💗
I believe she only used it to steam any stuck dirt out of crevices. If you notice, she just appeared to use it on the crevice around the drain and faucet 😊
When dreading a task, lately I found myself saying "It helps the willpower" and doing it anyway helps in getting it done. Your willpower only gets stronger when doing things you dont want to do, and I need willpower to get myself off social media scrolling and back into writing, so with the promise of getting to do what I want to, I do the things I don't want to do, so I can get through those rough patches in the process I love that much easier. Basically, find what works for you, even if it's odd or unusual. If it works, it works, and that's what gets things done.
The issue is when you procrastinate so much that you start procrastinating things you actually enjoy. Like, the amount of TV series I’ve been procrastinating is not good. 😭
Literally in the middle of cleaning my house right now, just finished cleaning my office and working on my bedroom now, sat down to take a break and this video popped up… I feel like I’m being called out 😅
yeah my time management went down the drain when I procrastinated doing hw for months (this is when Covid first started) and somehow ended up starting and finishing 27 assignments in the last week…
And sometimes we procrastinate because we know certain tasks will be really awful. I've been postponing calling my service provider to cancel the service for two weeks. Today I called and spent 3 hours navigating the maze of chat bots, incompetent humans and online bureaucracy. . And I will have to do it again next month. If I break contract before I will pay a fee.
It's the Bissell Steam Shot, and it's only sold at Walmart. There is another steam cleaning system called the Power Fresh Slim that has an extension pole. I love it!
I have the opposite problem where I'm constantly cleaning and have to force myself to sit still. And even better even though I'm constantly cleaning it never ends!
Hi. In one of your shorts you mentioned that after cleaning the sink you put a spray of disinfectant mist on it - could you please let me know more about that mist?
I procrastinate because of pain.I have fibromyalgia and arthritis And degenerating disks, I just know that whatever I do.I'm gonna be in pain so I procrastinate but not for a long cause.I can't stand a dirty house even with my mental health
There are many doctors who are dealing with these conditions in new & different ways, Brian Vaszily and Ari Whitten are just two of them. Debora Wayne is CEO of the Chronic Pain Institute and she also has a book on Amazon. Ari's brother Yoni Whitten specialises in chronic pain relief. I would recommend that you sign up for the newsletters from HealthMeans and Dr Jonathan Landsman, then those will introduce you to content from other doctors until you can find which ones resonate with you most. The thing I really admire about this new breed of doctor is that they are so generous with their knowledge. I'm building a library of free books and have watched a few videos too. Some of them even have whole documentary series that you can watch for free.
“Procrastination” works because it’s providing dopamine to my adhd brain that needs it. When I take my meds I’m no longer under-stimulated and all of a sudden “procrastination” doesn’t feel so much like a need anymore. It’s not about behaviors being reinforced or not and when I started understanding my adhd I stopped believing in procrastination. I don’t call it procrastination when a person is so physically impaired that they can’t move as much, and I’ve stopped calling it procrastination when a person is so neurologically impaired that they can’t move as much. And it’s definitely harder to recognize, but I don’t think there is such a think as laziness anymore. Nobody hustles like a neurodivergent person coping. If you feel anxiety I do believe that it is healthier to address it medically instead of trying to train yourself to function despite it, because I used to do that and those were the worst years of my life hands down. I find this short unfortunately very ableist in the face of real forms of disability… 😅
I procrastinate on work by cleaning 😅😢. One time i was catsitting at a friend's house while working from home and i literally deep cleaned their naaty kitchen and they came back and texted me later like "did you...did you replace the sink?!" Cuz i bought barkeepers friend and made it look brand new 😂 It sucks for my work tho 😅
I know you maybe didn't mean it like that, but it gives me the opportunity to say this: We DON'T LIKE being on our phones! We spend time one our phones in order to avoid doing the thing we're dreading! Thank you
If you have ADHD, you might procrastinate by doing *anything* other than the task (whether you enjoy it or hate it) because your brain can only coordinate itself to let you perform A Task™ when it thinks it's an emergency. Any requests to perform A Task™ during non-emergencies will be placed on hold ... "Please hold, your call is very important to us....." Until it BECOMES an emergency.
Or instead of white knuckling through tasks you really don't want to do making it just as likely you'll want to procrastinate in the future, think of ways to make it easier to start and/or more enjoyable overall...
I think major executive dysfunction causes some of the worst hoarding. I have a friend that is not neurotypical and he is a terrible hoarder. He's a great person but is very unorganized and has ADHD as well.
