Procreate Dreams: The Final Review 

Totally agree they should have waited to launch Procreate Dreams. Atleast waited till they got the updates/fixes up to 1.0.11 so at least they would launch with a more stable application.

Dreams feels more like a video editor than an animation software, which is a shame. The most I can do is rough animation before getting impatient with the lack of features that 90% of other animation/art softwares have.

So is your current recommendation to do the thumbnails/storyboard and drawing/coloring any assets In Toonsquid , and then doing the rough animatic in Adobe Fresco , and then do the final animation using Adobe After Effects for final edits on timing and sound & lighting ? I’m still getting started so Dreams is probably enough for me, but, I’m wondering if it would be a waste of time to keep using Dreams instead of learning a more complete app. Currently limited to an iPad

Oh that pixel zooming may be a dealbreaker for me. I do t really draw and am looking for something just to play around with but don’t want to worry about things like resolution.

Im still waiting on that fix for the pixelation issue because wow... the 1 Million x 1 Million was more important than fixing such a crucial thing. I don't wanna give up hope just yet since they're a solid team who worked on the original, but it sucks that its taking this long to fix such a critical issue

Yeah, I’d recommend to wait it out until they have actual features needed for frame-by-frame animation. Such features like the Zoom draw/Million pixels was so bad, and I’ve not opened nor used the app in forever. I’ll just wait till the app gets updated to a workable version. In the meantime, I’m working with Clip Studio Paint on the iPad, and it’s such a blast to animate with, tbh 😊 As for ToonSquid, it’s personally missing something that is quite important to me; I wish I could move the timeline to the top, so I can focus on animating without touching any other frames on the timeline while I work. Roughanimator has this and it’s such a lovely feature, and although RoughAnimator is missing some helpful features, it’s been nice animating in it. But I’m animating professionally with CSP in the meantime

I wish it was usable. The concepts are great. The follow through is not so much. 😢

I also wanted to recommend checking out “Ella Archangel” an animation by Mervin Malonzo here on RU-vid. It was mainly animated in RoughAnimator, which is so cool, and the backgrounds painted in Procreate. I hope you enjoy it and feel inspired again

What an absolute analist. This sounds like an Adobe fan girl getting paid to criticise Dreams. This app. was made for beginners. Anyone can see that. It’s only available for iPad which tells you everything.For a professional animator to start complaining about pixelisation in the app. I suggest she work on more professional apps, and leave Procreate to those that wanna have fun and are just beginning and only have an iPad not computer.This woman critic is a faded brush stroke on SAVAGE, her critique is that of an Uber professional looking down on upstart apps. because she can do better on computer programs. Have you seen what can be accomplished with Dreams? It's on V1. Give it time. This is already very capable, but will become way better in the future, like Procreate.
