On this week's show, we dust off one of my favorite formats -- one that puts the kids under a little extra pressure to perform. The "7th Frame Sweat" means when they get to the 7th frame, the first ball in the frame plays like a Single Ball Eliminator. The player with the low pinfall on their first ball in the 7th is instantly eliminated, regardless of where they stand in the match. So no matter how well you're bowling, you still have to survive the 7th Frame Sweat. And yes, it's designed to make them sweat bullets. Hence, the name.
Other than that, it all plays pretty much as usual, with three player-matches. Today, we have two divisions -- we'll crown a champion in the Littles and another in the Bigs. And the Bigs Divison starts with a Wild Card round to seed the final player into the stepladder.
As always, your comments are welcome and encouraged. But please, keep your critiques positive. We're here to build people up, not beat them down. Remember the PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR mission statement: to "Celebrate Junior Bowling and Elevate Junior Bowlers." When leaving a comment, remember to be helpful, not hurtful. Otherwise, your comment may be removed.
If you like what you see, be sure to leave a "thumbs up." If you really like what you see, click the SUBSCRIBE button and ring the bell to be notified whenever a new video gets posted on the channel.
If you want to keep up with all things PRODIGY, join our Facebook group (yes, it's called "Prodigy Bowlers Tour"). Just remember when you submit a request to join the group, you MUST answer the three screening questions (so we'll know you're not a spam bot).
Tell your friends about PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR. The more people that know about us, the more we can grow the channel and eventually take over the world. Won't that be great? A bowling alley in every home! Don't tell me you wouldn't love that!
Hope you enjoy the show!

Great job putting this week's episode together. I feel bad for the ones that didn't make it. Happy for the ones that did win. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. If I have done my math correctly taking one week off, which is understandable, means I will not see another new episode of PBT until October 11th. Que Sera Sera. Again, great job Coach Randy! Thank you for your time and efforts.

I didn’t get a notification either, but I always check on Friday mornings for this show, so I was safe today.
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 года назад
I can't be sure, but the reason for your not getting a notification may be this: I actually upload these videos on Wednesday night/Thursday morning most of the time. But as soon as RU-vid finishes "processing" the video, I release it only to our PRODIGY Patrons for a day. They get early access to all our shows. You can become a PRODIGY Patron for as little as $5 a month and have early access to all our full-length shows. For $10 a month, you not only get early access, but you also get your name in the end credits as an Executive Producer. It could be that the notification goes out when the show is first uploaded on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Then, on Thursday night/Friday morning when I change the video from "Unpublished" to "Public" so everyone can see it, I'm not sure that another notification goes out. But it's a safe bet that I will release the show to the general public "when the clock strikes Friday."

One handed bowling is superior IMO. when you start one handed yoy learn control, learning the boards and foot placement. Way before hooking the ball becomes a thing. I thibk there are some wonderful two handers and youth bowlers who do well. But they're so worried about hooking the ball and striking they forget about the other aspects of the game.
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 12 дней назад
There are plenty of one-handers who don't learn how to shoot spares, too. That's not unique to any "handedness." And I might agree with you to a point if we're only talking about "in the beginning" of two-handed bowling when players were so fascinated with the rev rates they get. But nowadays, kids are so well-coached that I think much of what you say is simply outdated. Ultimately, all things being equal, if I had it to do over again, and knowing what I know now, I would definitely want to start out as a two-hander. It is a mistake to assume just because someone bowls two-handed that they are, by nature, less accurate than a one-hander. Belmo is one of the most accurate spare shooters the game has ever seen, as evidenced by the number of splits he's made on TV. And there's no question that two-handed gives you a much more explosive strike ball. As for how much they hook the ball, that's as much a question of axis rotation as anything. Stay more behind the ball and you'll produce a more controllable hook. Problem solved.

This is one of my favorite formats. It kind of incorporates a single-ball elimination in the middle of a ten-frame match. By injecting these artificial pressure points into matches, it helps to toughen up the kids so that they won't be so afraid when they're in a pressure situation in a real tournament setting.

from seeing these kids bowl on Paris....i think ball speed is key, is that correct Randy?
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 года назад
Ball speed is always important. It's most important to remain consistent. Those of us who believe that Earl Anthony was the greatest bowlers who ever lived point to the fact that he was only accurate down to a half-board, but he also had the most impeccable speed control.

wes wilson - You’re exactly right. When I was bowling competitively, I was never the best player, but I was really good in the 10th frame and when I needed one. I think it’s because that dating back to when I was a junior bowler, no matter what the score, I always imagined that I needed this one yo break 200 or to get into the 180s or whatever the threshold was at the time. I made it “important” to me to get a strike in the 10th, even when I was bowling alone or just practicing. You put yourself in position wher “I need this one” enough times and you not only steel yourself from feeling so much pressure but you actually start looking forward to the times when you’re in that situation because you’re confident that you’ll come through (and you get to show off a little).

Coach, what’s the highest level that one of your prodigies has risen to in bowling? I would LOVE to read that one day a young kid who bowled on this show is bowling in a top school or better, professionally!
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 года назад
@Adrian Bradley -- Well, they're all a little young still to have accomplished much in the world of professional bowling, but a couple have had brushes with greatness. A year or two ago, Tyrell Ingalls bowled in the national qualifier for Teen Team USA. As I understand it (and I barely understand it), I think the teens and the adults all bowled in this thing together, and right up until the last round or two, Tyrell led all the big name pros -- Chris Barnes, E. J. Tacket -- all of 'em. He raised quite a few eyebrows with his performance and attracted some well-deserved attention. Then earlier this year (or maybe it was last year), Charlie Bostic was at a pro-am where Jason Belmonte was supposed to be there. But this was the weekend when Belmo injured one of his fingers and was forced to withdraw. To fill Belmonte's spot in the pro-am, they called on...Charlie Bostic. And that attracted quite a bit of attention, as you might imagine. Belmo, who was there (he just couldn't bowl) stayed and coached everybody up on the pair of lanes. I have every reason to believe that several more of our young bowlers will go on to enjoy success in the game's highest levels...if they choose to pursue it (and I think some will). But it's still a little early. The ones were are off at school enjoying collegiate success already are Peyton Smith and Josh Doneghy, who are at Emmanuel College here in Georgia. Tyrell Ingalls is at a school in Savannah. Emily Rettig is a star performer with the women's team at Louisiana Tech. And Melissa McConnell was the captain of the women's team at Oklahoma Christian last season, the school's inaugural season with a bowling program. Unfortunately, she suffered an injury and is not bowling this year (and is not going to a bowling college anymore). But quite frankly, the PRODIGY kid who holds the most promise right now, I think, is Annalise O'Bryant. She is currently the two-time, back-to-back defending national champion among U15 Girls at Junior Gold. That means she's won on national television two years running. And she's just now turned 15, so she's going to get better and better. I would definitely look for big things from her when she decides to go out on tour, which seems inevitable.

@@ProdigyBowlersTour Wonderful... Thank you for your reply. I'll have to keep an eye on these bowlers and watch out for more of your kids as they bowl through your program. I remember watching a few of the shows and hearing you mention how you don't just put out the recreational shot - you put out challenge and sports patterns for the kids, even the little ones, and even when you said 'Coach will put you in a pressure situation' or something like that. It seems the kids are responding very well, and the parents must be on board with your program for the kids. I'm also very happy to see that you allow the kids, especially the young ones, to bowl with whatever style they choose. There are still youth coaches out there who are stuck on not wanting to teach or encourage the 2-handed style, and I'm glad your kids are competing with the style they choose. They look like they enjoy the competition and feel as though they *can* compete in these stepladders and tournaments you put on. I rank this channel right up there with others that have been good for our sport. I think the Olympic Committee should watch some of your shows, too!!

Google "bowling ball speed conversion chart." Download it, and then use your cellphone's stopwatch to time the amount of time the ball is on the lane. This ain't rocket science.

Is Rowan throwing a plastic Ball? Feels like hes got enough speed to throw reactive :D
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 года назад
The pink and purple ball is a weak reactive. He hooks it off the world. He usually gets his best look when he's throwing is Blue Hammer Urethane. And then he's got a couple of plastic balls, too. But the Blue Hammer and his Storm Tropical (the pink/purple thing) are usually right for when he's throwing strike balls.
@hexa8513
@hexa8513 4 года назад
BrownswickBowling alright, true, urethane is a pretty good Option for the young two handers. Pretty insane to see whats coming up there :D
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 года назад
@@hexa8513 -- He doesn't quite generate enough speed to control a stronger reactive ball. Remember, he's throwing that Tropical on a 47 foot oil pattern here. And it's pretty fresh when he's bowling on it. Admittedly, it's fairly low volume, but still. Plus, the little guys haven't yet learned to stay behind the ball to create a more controllable ball motion. They're so far on the side, creating so much axis rotation, they can't quite control it. That's why I think the urethane balls might be better options...for now. The weight blocks give them some angle, but the surface keeps the ball from veering out of control.
