Yeah I don't get it either. It's clearly capable and engineered well, so if funding were an issue, I'm certain people would be willing to pre-order it to allow for production. It's not like they manufactured all the parts themselves anyway.

Anti-lag isn't in street vehicles because of the greatly increased stress on the engine. WRC teams used it because they had the funding and means to replace an engine every 500 miles.

Newer Hyundai turbo models make good use of Anti-Lag. Besides, that’s not the only factor in advanced stress on race engines compared to standard road cars.

No. Prodrive make rally cars. Mainly Subaru WRC cars, so they just applied their knowledge about turbo engines and AWD witchcraft and made this as an engineering exercise.

Totally agree, very stupid move. Even though I don't find it very pretty, I do think it has a very special look and I would buy one for sure if they would've put it in production. This is one of my dream cars.

It doesn't appear to be have been any revolution. Rather a rally car without some homologation limitations. I'm not surprised they did not launch it. Hand-making is extremely expensive, mass production even more (remember even Mitsubishi resigned from making the legendary Lancer Evolution, before them Lancia resigned from Delta Integrale). They probably made it just for advertisement.

Tuborg Not really they'd be expensive as hell even though they would've been sold for £40,000.00 it would have been in small quantities making it rare and inturn making it go up in value, since its basically a Bespoke WRX, and look at the Cosworth WRX that goes for 50k-60k grand now, when a professional and acclaimed tuner touch a normal car its no longer gonna be cheap later on or be able to be bought for pennies at any time, look the Ralliart FQ Evos or the SVT Focus RS still worth their value even today.

The Anti-lag is basically a system that minimizes turbo lag in a car. How it works, is it arranges for fuel and air to be in the exhaust duct past the engine, before the turbocharger.

And the cars rear differential works by applying power to the wheel that need the most in the way of movement, it's called, spin-slip. The power that the front diff gets its controlled by the center diff. The car will sense itself starting to slide, and the computer will tell the center differential to split the torque between the front and rear axle. This system works so fast that it can change how fast one wheel spins in the middle of a corner

Ryan White It's flutter actually. Surge is on acceleration, and is bad. That's the impeller stalling on the backed up pressure. Perfectly safe unless it's on acceleration, which is bad.

Woods Gaming Channel It's not a supercar, but yeah I'd love to own a Prodrive. Despite the unimaginative name there's a lovely engine in there coupled with a pretty advanced drivetrain, plus it also looks rather interesting. So it's kinda like your channel except there's something in there in a Prodrive.

due to the fact it has more horse power than the Subaru its has got a beter chassis and a beter computer that controls the handeling/gripe lower in price ect this car would give the Subaru a run for its money

BleedingBambi well, they're completely different cars, and their levels are completely different. Prices are different, points are different, functions are different. R8 is a supercar, this is a small fast coupe (with a Subaru engine). P2 is nothing like R8. And vice versa. And that's why I'm telling you that R8 is a much better car. Much better built, much better put together, much prettier, faster, and handles better as well.

What the man explained was brought first time on the mitsubishi Evo . It's called YAW control ,and it manages to send power to individual wheel by measuring g force and steering angle ,while ecu manages to read wheel rotation and send power to wheel that spins slower. In a small say is the perfect 4wd system in the world with nearly 80% split of power between axels.

IMO the 919 Evo perfected the AWD system. Torque vectoring rear diff, electric torque vectoring front diff, 100-0 to 50-50 instantaneous split due to the electric motors. On a circuit, you really need to ability to send all power to the rear at some point, and there are basically no instances where you'd need more power to the front than the rear on a circuit.

I would have definitely bought the P2 in Canada. Ended up getting a new WRX STI sedan instead. It had the same sorry of electronic breaking system and same 3 differentials as this car. The bow off noise is not as good though. It's like a hiss, pop and a subwoofer at the same time but needed an air intake and hand welded catback for that.

I always watched Top Gear with a bit of sceptism, because even when I was 15, I figured out that half of what they say is not correct. However, when I started watching Mighty Car Mods, I realised that while I learned about everything in the Japanese tuning scene, I'd discover that actually, Jeremy Clarkson in particular knows nothing about the technology behing a car. I don't understand how, in a huge production team, not one person realises that A TURBO FLUTTER IS NOT THE WASTEGATE BUT TURBULENCE AND PRESSURE BETWEEN THE TURBO AND THE CLOSED THROTTLE BODY

I think most people realize that Top Gear is not about factual information and real car reviews. Its entertainment and comedy, and being off on the terminology is part of that. They dont even hide that Clarkson doenst know a damn thing about cars, just as he doesnt do manual labor.

I think you're right (after trying to find out more about it). I just couldn't imagine that they'd allow such harsh conditions for their turbo. While some turbos can be made to handle it, it's still hard on it, I would assume. Then again, it's not a true production car, so maybe they don't care... :-)

Antilag keeps the turbo spooled when the car isnt moving (you need the engine revved for this tho). It reduces the ignition timing to have the fuel ignite when it's already left the combustion chamber, so essentially it explodes while in the exhaust manifold, spinning up the turbine instead of moving the pistons.

Very impressive car. Should have gone into production in my opinion. It looked stylish, sounded incredible (I love the squirrel-like chattering sounds and the snarling under hard acceleration), was fast, had an intriguing anti lag system, had interesting technology and seemed so convincing, promising and mass-produced.

The Banbury Prodrive factory is surprisingly small, considering how many Aston Martin race cars they produce there now. I think the factory size would be one of the main reasons they never wanted to produce it, along with their actual reasons

That doesn´t sound so difficult. I mean is not magic lol I guess it just makes the wheels on the inside to turn a little bit slower. But who cares, that turbo sound is so stupid, turbos are ruining cars making engines smaller and smaller and more difficult to work in and puts them to greater stress.
