Neither jimin nor bts as a group are really Kpop anymore. They’ve transcended the genre. Not that there’s anything wrong w Kpop… it’s just that it’s no longer a term that accurately describes them. 🫰

I feel they're still kpop in that they're involved in the industry, but they're kind of expanding what that can mean, if that makes sense? They were blessed to start with a company that gave them the opportunity to really be involved in the creative process instead of just being performers and it shows. They're not the only ones, but they are the biggest ones that are helping to push this paradigm shift in what it means to be an idol. That creative freedom was so rare in kpop when they debuted but it is now gaining traction. They have been the catalyst for a few changes for the better in the industry.

For the younger audience?? 😂 I’m over 40. I love this Hip Hop group BTS who has since expanded to include different genres and even mixing them that they are beyond being pigeonholed into one genre. Because of them, I no longer consider genres relevant. Is Taylor swift country or pop? I Coldplay rock or pop?? I mean… who cares???? Do they make good music or not? That’s what’s important. And for me, BTS never made a single song I don’t like. Never experienced that with another artist before. Remember buying an LP and trying to find that 1 song you bought the LP? For BTS, I play all the songs.

RIP MJ but I honestly think if he was alive today, he'd be doing something close to this type of music. En Interlude: Shadow y Black Swan, la propia Sombra está representada por un autoajuste que puedes escuchar aquí.
