J hope has said multiple times that JCole is the person who inspires him to start music. It's soo cool to see him be able to creat music with his idol. It's incredible.
Adding to your hand-off comment, I feel the hand off is the dance. JCole is on the rooftop rapping, JHope is underground honing his dance to JCole's verse. This is recreating JHope's early years when he idolized JCole and danced "on the street" to his music. The following verse is them harmonizing together, then JHope comes out from "underground" to meet his muse - JCole -together on the rooftop as JHope has also reached that height in his career. This is JHope's good-bye to ARMY, since he will do his military service soon. The opening scene with the child could be his (temporary) good-bye to ARMY or good bye to his younger self. . . as chapter 2 has begun.
This video is highly symbolic. Jhope started as a street dancer and has always admired jcole, (born singer btw is a cover of his song) all 7 of them love jcole its part of the reason why hobi has that stage name. And then to come up the stairs to roof to meet his own person hero is a story to how far he has come to be on the same level as his own hero and recognize that Hobi has made it as a trie hip hop artist.
I love the producer’s angle, when you go back to watch again, pay attention to the handoffs between Cole and Hope-it’s all there, just lyric to dance moves and back. It is a very sophisticated give and take while paying homage to his Muse/Role Model. Cole’s hands to Hope’s -there is a lot to unpack, but both of their voices are on the hook - thank you for your reaction. J-Hope wrote this song with Cole in mind in every detail.
I didn't know j-hope before this but yea I would have liked to see more from him even though I love j Cole and his verse. Hopefully they can make another song in the future
If you love this J-Hope as I do, check his album Jack in the Box. If you loveold school hip, you will love it. He has this song called What If, he samples Wu Tang, there is also More, Arson and my favorite song on the album = Sign. The album is fire.
J-Hope purposefully only gave himself 8 bars, out of respect for Cole! J-Cole is his inspiration. He started street dancing to his music, and when he started rapping, he was his idol. J-Hope even named his first mixtape "Hope World" after being inspired by "Cole World". While I too would have loved to hear more from him in the song, I understand why he kept his part small! You might like his songs, 'Arson' and 'More' from his latest album Jack In The Box. He performed them live when he headlined Lollapalooza last summer (where he met J-Cole for the first time) and it was incredible!
@@morganmariex Thank you! J-Hope is not normally a solo artist. He is in a group with six other men. He knows how to share, that is why the army loves him. Even thrift is his song, he let his hero shine. He let J Cole do what he does best. That is a sign of a true gentleman and talent.
Thank you for your reaction. I love J-Hope's dancing; I can watch him all day long and his rapping and singing are so distinctive. JCole is new to me and this is a great intro. Appreciate how you point out things in the video that enhance the enjoyment of viewers. This is probably J-Hope's farewell song to ARMY and it gives this performance so much more emotional weight. Blessings on our Mr. Sunshine and may he stay well until he comes back to us after his military service.
I think many of us would love them to do another one together once J-Hope military service is completed. I love how J-Hope was going back to his roots dancing to J-Cole his muse giving his Muse the most bars a huge sign of respect. I love all the symbolism in the MV. Thank you for your reactions. BTS love all your guitars it makes me feel not so guilty for all the one's I own.
Thank you for this! BTS' solo projects are just refreshing and amazing... Jimin is coming with his solo album on March 24th, so let's get ready for it!
