The "arm movements" are a dancestyle called whacking. It originated in lgbtq clubs in the 70s and got mainstream in the 80s. So even her dance is matching the whole 80s aesthetic and vibe :)
YUBIN IS SO UNDERAPPRECIATED! I hope she gets the recognition that she deserves soon. She just might need to snap a bit harder, we all know she can do it!!
im sooo glad yubin didn’t go with the hip hop style everyone expected her to do when she debuted, this retro concept fits her so well and i feel like a piece of wonder girls lives on through her music. just hope she gets the recognition she deserves soon, i wish the best for yeeun, sunmi & yubin, along with the other girls no matter which path they choose
Yubin coming back strong. I really dig the aesthetic as well. Enjoyed the other 2 tracks off the album too, especially Let You Go. Similar groovy vibe to the title track. I definitely see your point about the choreography being "safe". I think seeing the dance practice version or her perform it will make you appreciate it more, especially with the wacking and all the arm and hand movements.
Yubin is killing it! I love this song and the choreo is so good!! You should check out the dance practice, her body control is honestly amazing. The other two songs are so good! I specially like Game Over
I was waiting for this. I loved this so much, the first time I listened to this song I didn't really get into it, but now I'll randomly start dancing and singing the chorus. I'm falling so hard for her, I love the aesthetic, the sound, the dance, everything.
I have to disagree about the choreo. It's not safe at all, it's actually very hard and tiring to do those arm movements (major respect to the bg dancers too for doing it in sync so nicely) and I think it's way harder than what most others are doing these days.
i'm in love with this concept (i was born in 1989) even the robotic dog was a toy from 1998/1999 (a friend from school had it, lol) the telephone! my sister had it too. the 90's are in the kpop scene and i'm so happy for that. loona / exid / yubin / exo (last album) yubin did it great and she looks AMAZING ♥ u ♥

Brings a nice 80's retro vibe to a modern club dance track :D! She feels like a Bond Girl from the Roger Moore era!! The whistling lead adds a really nice touch to stellar MV that incorporates 80's sci-fi themes as well as current future pop elements. Even the various outfits are iconic, including that green Dragon Ball Z Vegeta eye scanner visor and hair dryer gun! It's a welcoming and refreshing track to the endless EDM/Tropical/Trap releases.
As for the choreo, imho it's really on point, as you said it's harkening back to the choreo of the era and I feel you shouldn't dock a point for being faithful to that. Her "you talk too much" is definitely the cool feature move.
I think this is one of the best combacks in a while, thanks this kind of music I do not get bored with kpop, sometimes is very monotone, also I would put this song drinking smth w my friends.
Onew came out with a MV today and the song is called 'Blue' and I think you will truly love and appreciate the amazing cinematography. The song is very beautiful as well with amazing vocals and instrumental!
Honestly, whenever I'm about with watch her videos I have to brace myself because I'm scared that I'll hate it because it's that kind of retro, the TRUE retro, which normally I can't jive with. But then Yubin, YUBIN DEAR LORD, she delivers so well I can't hate the songs, they're such bops 😍
i'm watching this hella late but the style of dance she is mostly utilizing is waacking which is SO COOL TO SEE IN KPOP bc it is not seen as much in mainstream dance even in the west, so as a dancer i was super excited to see her incorporate it!! also waacking doesn't usually require too much space bc of it's proximity to the body, so probably why her dance space and formations aren't as big as normal :)

You probs didn’t notice but there was no screen behind her, it was a mirror that reflected the screen that was used as a stage, that’s also why the stage was on the smaller size, a Brilliant idea by my opinion, it was done before but it’s still unique to the kpop world, if only she did it live too
I really appreciate her MV bringing memories of the late 90s to early millennium. The year 1999 to 2000 was the time when techno house music was the popular 'musical style.' I think the song has the elements of the genre. It was also the time when people were haunted by the idea of the advanced technology bringing the world's end. From Y2K scenario, Mayan calendar, nuclear war...even in the movies like Matrix. What was only a subgenre in Sci-fi was thought to be actualized in real life. A fiction that was thought to never happen might become an unsettling reality. It's interesting that she decided to use the uncertainty and awkwardness that the 90s kids felt during the 99-00 to represent the unsettling heart of a woman whose man just confessed that he had fallen for other woman. Because when I was going through the 99-00, it was both fear of uncertainty and romance of the unknown.
