CHAUVET DJ I don't use Serato, only my usb sticks in my Denons. I have NEVER dj'd with Serato all my years of DJ'ing. So, there is no way to use this even if I bring along an ipad just to use the software or a laptop?? Is it only a plug and play for Serato use only?

an interesting way to accomplish this would be to import your click tracks (assuming the drummer plays to a click) into serato and then program the lights to the click... The drummer then uses serato to play back the click and there you have a programmed light show.... another thing i did in past bands is make performance tracks with the click panned to R and backing tracks / sound effects panned L. Send the R side to the drummer / ears and the L side to the house. now you have click, the backing tracks, and the light show all taken care of.

You must use USB hub because that is a limitation of the Apple.

Use a powered hub if you a really worried, I use a hub to control 2 cdjs (not a controller) and have no noticeable lag and have my hard drive directly connected to my macbook pro.

Sound active isn't comparable to this software. Sound active mode just responds to sound level thresholds. This means if the music gets loud enough in a song, it could do what you do not want it to do.

Ok lets say is not the same as sound mode.. I still need to go through all my music library and make a show for each song. a song is about 3 to 5 minutes long it is not going to take me 5 minutes to make a show for one song and if any dj is like me I don't play some sets of music all the time and if your mobile not even close.. that's 100's of music you need to program. But ok you say it has a repeat mode or something like that wat is the point of doing that if is just following the beat like sound mode so why even bother.. people stick to DMX.. and also all there shows are with led up lights or spot that just turn off and on and when they try putting a moving head it just dose some random move just for people to see that it work.. you guys need to get your heads together and promote your product a little better ..stop using up lights and silly moves.... 🎤. Am out

It would be interesting to see the manufacturer do a "SoundSwitch vs Sound Active" comparison video. I saw the SoundSwitch at DJ Expo 2017 in Atlantic City, and it was enough for me to decide to buy. I have a full DMX rig for our larger shows, but that requires a lighting guy to run, so that the DJ can focus on his mix. A few gigs hiring a light tech would pay for the device. Sound active doesn't hold a candle to the capabilities of the SoundSwitch, IMO. Sound active is fine for "flashy blinkies" on a light bar at a backyard Sweet 16, but this is like going from sound active to DMX. This responds to what the DJ is doing, similar to a live light tech, and the auto loops allow quick custom showsSound active will respond to someone speaking on the mic, so you may have to unplug the lights if you have someone doing a speech at a wedding reception or corporate event. Anyway, to each their own, but for me as a mobile DJ on a small or medium size event, I think it's a great option for a kick butt show without needing an extra person.

David Ruiz with respect David, allow me to point out another perspective. I’ve been doing a fuck ton of research on this topic and this app and hardware integration is by far the most advanced. The product baseline is a more advanced “sound “algorithm then what comes from the factory devices specially if it’s a non-namebrand device. Secondly and most importantly this tool allows you to fine-tune the rough draft that they created. If anyone knows of any other software that does that second item really well please let me know. And software that a French guy creates on the weekend doesn’t count. It takes a lot of work to pull together a well-made software/hardware solution that looks great and from what I can tell these guys are doing it. Props to you guys. I won’t be sold for sure until I give it a try with a 30 day moneyback guarantee before I commit.
