One of things that I need to get better at is actively scheduling when I process firewood. Do you have that problem too?

Time and motivation, or sometimes both, is what gets me. Once i get started, I am ok and will go for 1 to 2 hours at a time.

Great video Travis. I agree got to make time for firewood. Hard part for me is just getting started then I'm motivated. I split a little last night.

Isn't it crazy, Mike, that once you get started, everything is smooth and fine. Ha. The getting going part is difficult for many folks. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

Time is money. The pickaroon work is good for us with the trailer load of rounds tipped up and the splitter right behind the trailer.

Good point, Kenny. I was going to do that, but decided not to. Maybe next time. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

I have a Fiskars piccaroon and still learning it. Always an issue the deeper you sink it, the harder it is to get out. I also use a straight claw framing hammer sometimes, actually works quite well.

Ah, that's a great idea re the old school framing hammer. I need to dig mine out. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

Fun show. I had to make a full cord delivery to myself yesterday which really seemed like a lot of work. More work than hauling it miles away. Maybe if I have my wife hand me some Benny’s it will make it worth the trip across the yard.

Sweet tunes. Idk how often you split but I've found it WAAAYYYY easier out of the truck or carryall. Problem 4 me w the carryall is that's normally on the tractor I split with. So I lay down a couple 4x4 to unhook it on. Not terrible but not waist high either. You'll unconsciously keep your leg outta way. I see yours doesn't have nearly the hook my pick does. ( Mines the Forester) .Easiest way to get it out is lever the handle against the piece. Hit it lower.

I may need to invest some time into making some sort of a table to have rounds on since I don't have a log lift. And I guess that may be the difference between a picaroon v. a hookaroon - the latter has a hook on it. Good call on hitting the round lower so that you're able to use the wood to hit against the handle to get the pic out - I'll try that next time. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

finding time or making time, always hard, but when i do ..... boy i enjoy myself. I prefer the chainsaw work, then splitting and stacking is least favourite

Well said. At least with stacking there's some down time to rest before going at the saw again, ha. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

Hookeroon takes practice Travis, I can't explain it, you just need to keep using it, you're not doing anything wrong, you just haven't figured out all the tricks yet😮

When I load w mine I hit the piece low and then bump the bottom corner on the tailgate or another piece if using my carry all, while continuing forward motion w the handle. Pops out pretty easy. And w pine don't sink it in so far. I've picked up some big ash w it only about 1/4" in

You’ve either got a crazy color shift on the video, or your grass is hella green. My lawn only gets dark green where i pee on it.
