Why would a diabetic eat one single gram of carbohydrate. Diabetes is elevated blood glucose with virtually all of it from eating it. Here’s an idea - stop eating it. The requirement for dietary carbohydrate is zero, not one gram ever. How is it possible to have elevated glucose if you don’t eat glucose. I eat none as I eat carnivore. The chances of me being diabetic are exactly zero. Forget low carb. Go NO carb. How about a study on a group of diabetics eating ZERO carbohydrate. See how many stay diabetic.

I agree. I had been between 6.0 and 6.5 all my adult life until 2010. Switching to Keto 14 years ago I have been consistently around 5.0-5.1. Also got rid of my triglycerides/cholesterol problem, IBSD, acid reflux, nagging lower back pain, low grade inflammation, joint pain, and low energy. My quality of life is better now than it was 20 years ago when I was not on a low-carb diet.

That makes sense doesn’t it. But people don’t want to give up eating the way they have been eating, which gives them so much pleasure. And I should capitalize that word pleasure I think, at heart a lot of people are just hedonists. Without realizing it, of course. But yeah, you are spot on, that has been my mantra all along. Why would you put any kind of sugar into your mouth if you are diabetic. My son is having a hard time grasping with this thing and I want to shake some ascension to him and it’s difficult.
@JimSiverts
@JimSiverts 7 месяцев назад
@@ronnapierson7178 no question. That is the hardest part. It truly is an addiction and needs to be treated as such. The good news is that the more adapted you become the less you even think about carbs. When you do eat them you are thinking why did I just do that! I guess at some point as with all addictions you have to decide if the benefits are worth more than the bad habit. Is it going to be candy bars or diabetes? For me it was easy to make that call.

Cortisol (can come from stress, etc.) generates glucose. So even if you don’t ingest any, you can generate your own. 😕

I reversed my T2D inside three months with low carb, having come off Metformin after just two months. My Hba1c has been perfectly low (under 40 mmol - it was 105 when first diagnosed) for over three years. Trig to HDL ratio of 1. That is all without exercise as I am disabled. My doctor still says I’m diabetic.

I am very glad to hear that. I have one question I cannot find the answer to, and perhaps you could help me. If someone in your situation had a high carb meal, would his glucose and insulin response be similar to that of a person with diabetes or to someone who has never had diabetes?
@sigalsmadar4547
@sigalsmadar4547 7 месяцев назад
@@carloshugozayasbonet4564A type 2 is finally recognized as type 2 from the spillage of glucose into the urine or blood after DECADES of perpetually high INSULIN levels. The body can't take being out of balance any more. A former type 2 will probably have a "normal" response for a one time meal. However consistent doses of carbs again will start the downward spiral again.

Been keto/low carb for 7 years now. A1c down from 6.1 (pre-diabetic) to 5.2/5.0 (it varies each time I get bloods) and has stayed down there for the entire time. It lowered within a month of starting. I eat well. I'm older (over 50) and take zero medications.

I live in US and i have diagnosed with T2D in 1996. Fast forward fo 2021 I was on 7 meds including 2 insulins injections. Nov 2021 I started cutting all my carbs except salad and berries. Since then my A1C drops to 5.7 and never back up. The only medication I kept in metformin. I lost55 lbs and my energy level is good for 57 years old man. I have CGM and i keep average of 120 all the time with SD of 14. Sorry for nerd part I couldn’t help it. Try cut your carb it works. It did for me.

Absolutely we can! It’s not a matter of remission, it’s a matter of restoring homeostasis. Clear all the things out of the body that should not be there such as heavy metals, chemicals, synthetics, petrochemicals. Then bring the minerals, fats, Acidity/alkalinity into proper levels and ratios so that the body can function in an efficient balanced manner then all dis ease and illness would be gone. Minds and temperaments would be restored to balance. But this can’t be allowed because there would be no huge resources generated for those who want it.

I agree . Got off carbs walk on average 25km at average 4.5kmph a week. Drink only water and reduced coffee with milk to one a day. Reduced meals to one a day in the evening and portion sized to a soup bowl 1/4 cup protein rest legumes veg salad no potato rice pasta once a fortnight. I won't look back have all the benifits mentioned feel very fresh now more active and sleep is just great Got these results.

I'm finding that a lot of articles and vids like this tend to blur the distinction between curing/remission and diet controlled diabetes. I do believe that T2 can be put into remission in some cases, mainly those that are newly diagnosed. In most though, their T2 is not in remission, it is merely diet controlled instead of medication controlled. I'm aiming for one of the above so I can show my own doctor who believes that T2 is a progressive disease and still prescribes the "diabetic plate" and meds, along with a grim prognosis.

There is no CURE. What you eat controls the health you have. If I hit my leg with a hammer it's going to be red and sore and other damage. If I stop hitting myself and the pain and redness and all the other issues go away and I cured of the results of hitting myself with a hammer? No.. the moment I start doing it again I will get the same symptoms. The same with inappropriate food. Your pain and symptoms go away because you are no longer eating things that cause I'll health. You have not cured anything only the body's response to it. Eat it again and your health issues will come back. You cannot CURE anything because it is what you eat that is causing ill health and disease.

The reason for failing HbA1c possibly that your pancreas does not function well. If you took gliclazide for years, your pancreas has been overloaded. No matter you are on keto or low carb. Malnutrition is also no good for pancreatic health.

nearly 1T .. could be spent on an extra submarine or research on edible foods that don’t have any carbohydrates or starches. definitely seems to be a correlation to eroded health. almost like there is a dose dependant component happening there. when bodies run on fat instead. that seems optimal. really changed my mind when a U.S. doctor pointed out that Argentina shipped their beef to the final soccer matches. don’t see many obese players. not sure why we don’t return to before 1921 .. with all that has been learned the last 100+ years of the failures associated with starches and sugars as ‘ food stuff ‘, wanting to take one drug to counteract another is. plain daft. ‘ if refined carbs were healthy. ‘ they would be.

I’d like to point out the link between ADHD and diabetes. It’s probably the biggest risk factor and definitely the most affected group. ADHD reduces life expectancy more than diabetes or heart disease or cancer. The reduced life expectancy of diabetes could possibly be partly attributed to ADHD or conversely the 10 year reduced ADHD life expectancy might be partly because of diabetes. Undiagnosed adhd folks without access to stimulant medication self medicate with sugar caffeine nicotine or worse. Every adhd person I know used to drink litres of Coca Cola before diagnosis. Also it’s a sensory thing to self regulate with food especially say crunchy food. But I realised I could use cucumber and sugar-snap peas instead of say biscuits and popcorn. But I think that my meditation, which I absolutely cannot function in society without, is maybe worsening insulin resistance (it works by putting pressure on the adrenal glands to make normal situations more urgent or fight-flight ish) and then you maybe have a bit more dopamine or norepinephrine. But a strict keto diet also increases cortisol and, I’ve read, that adhd brains struggle to metabolise fats or ketones and are very dependent on sugars for fuel (that bit needs fact checking). Has anyone managed to adapt a keto diet for adhd folk especially for women? Because the medication doesn’t work well in luteal phase so generally we revert back to carbs in this time

Yes, we know it can be put in to remission for most people. But the question I want an answer to is that is it possible that for some fit people on keto with low IR it is still not possible for total remission? I want to hear about the outliers, of which I may be one. My A1C remains around 7.0 after years of keto.

What about type 1?
@sigalsmadar4547
@sigalsmadar4547 7 месяцев назад
I am type 1 48 years. It is an autoimmune disease. And yes insulin helps us live, but too much insulin is still the bad guy. It is easy to do very very low carb as a type 1. Eat a no carb meal. Check your BG every half hour after to make sure your basal rate is low enough to not give you a low episode between eating. Decide now what your rescue carbs will be....a set amount, like 15g cho, not during an emergency. If you keep your basal low enough, you won't need to chase the insulin with food. Be careful when you bolus because you will be more sensitive to insulin and you may need to change your correction ratio. You want to bring down sugar gently, not push it down forcefully with a large bolus. Otherwise you bottom out 3 hours later and you're still in the same boat with too many carbs and too much insulin. I use a pump so i can turn down the basal rate when i have no desire to eat when the BG is drifting down, such as the middle of the night. You can do low carb! And carnivore.
