Thank you for this video! I've been going on now for eight years into research with leaving a strict religious group and finding steps or ways to help others with the processes of being shunned. I have read books on: combating mind control, reframing my identity with self-help books, my believes the history of what I was taught and my cultural upbringing. And still (outwardly in social settings) function as a peaceful good spirited citizen, wife, and friend/family member, it was worth the mental and physical challenge but I hope pay it forward even so. Shunning by all your relatives and friends should be illegal. I have come across many in social media and around my area that have far worse cases based on the personalities of those that manage their “spiritual welfare”. I'm not sure how it would be properly set in legal document but after much research on my old religion's method, it seems inhuman with this day and age of social concepts and human rights that a healthy social environment is crucial to human survival. I'm glad I am resilient (as you stated in your example of the youth in your charts) and still had curious mind to explore and face my fears (as you also stated you seen those that stay in social and those that explore). I realize this video has gave me good perspective on how this does have weight on importance, while this would be good for someone like my husband (being more interested in nonsocial settings and focusing more on it because of health and family), I would love to see more studies on those that are forced to abandon or cut off all contact with an individual as well as the individual that was victimized to this behavior. I do know that miners are somewhat protected by social workers but what about an individual growing up in a social network who is unduly influenced in controlled manners that are subjected to BITE (Behavior control, Information control, Thought control, and Emotional control) leading to full control of the human from rational interpersonal decisions and phobia of cognitive dissonance that could help them function in human behavior even if they do display mature IQ. If this could somehow be open to explore… the difference between parents responsible, a leader in charge of a group, and all managing being subjected to some kind of accountability or transparency while remaining respect to each party’s privacy and differences.
