Great video from Steve. Initially this did not work, but after I switched the car one-off 8 times I got the beep. This was a 2009 Fiesta with the more oblong 3 button key. Well done, thanks Steve.
Hi JD, this video shows you how to code in the buttons after changing the key battery. You can do this with a new key no problem, however, inside the new key is a chip that will need coding in with diagnostic software
I just cut and programmed a key for a guy with a 2004 fiesta. He just had a key with a transponder in it with no central locking. I programmed in a new 3 button remote with an original oval shaped remote head Ford key. All was well,i got him to test it,his boot lock worked as well. Then he says when he got home remote didn't work!!I noticed when he was starting his car it turned over very slowly like it wasn't going to start, would these keys go out of sync with a weak car battery?
I own Fiesta 2007. Currently I have 2 working key (one is fob). Can I program +2 additional unlocking key? Four times from 1-2, first remote unlock and then add +2 more keys? Does that work or I need 1 by 1 or it is not possible to add so many? I bought 2 keys from Aliexpress (8$ with ID63 40bit, hope transponder is ok)
I have central locking on my fiesta. I have 2 keys. None of them has buttons. I put the key inside and I lock unlock the car. Can I do this if I buy a remote?
Hi Arslan, well you are doing everything correctly, but the car cannot detect the key when you press the button. You need to get the key checked out to see if it is transmitting a signal
My 2005 ford fiesta key fob stopped working, Ive tried using this method to recalibrate the key, i do the inital 4 times and get the beep but when I press the key theres no second beep, I bought another key to try and nothing. What am I doing wrong
HI Clare, sorry been away. You're not doing anything wrong, if the car beeps then you've done it all correct, but the keys you have may not be transmitting correctly
Hi mate just wondering- I’ve got my aftermarket key fob working for everything except starting the car (it’s cut correctly) I was just wondering how I can get it to start the engine it’s a 2007 ford fiesta I would really appreciate any advice
Definitely works for a Ford Focus 1.6 auto 2002 mk1.5 facelift model (indicator’s in the headlights version lol) I changed the battery in my single key and as per usual the remote bit thingy me bob thing stopped working and so looked for a fixed and found this video and another and thought the usual fake news bullshit so of I went to my car and wow hang on this shit works man the car bleeped after 4 turns so I quickly pressed one of the buttons on my key and double shit after about 6 attempts I thought this doesn’t work so locked the car manually and walked off came back to the car and thought I’d try one of the buttons on my key and as if by magic my key works fine now ; ) o7 ......
There's no problem if you only have one key. Just switch the ignition on and off until the car beeps, or chimes, (normally four times) and then press one of the buttons. Then ignition on and off and that's it!
Hello car key man! Did what you say and first and second keys are now acting as a remote should. However the second key (the one programmed) cannot start the car, which can be done with the original one. Any idea, solution, please. Thanks
Hi, if you take a key from another car, you can programme the buttons easily using this video. You'll need to get the chip coded to to the car, normally done using diagnostics
I have a 2005 ford fiesta and when i try to lock the car it locks then quickly unlocks it does the same for both central locking and using the key in the door
HI, This is normally caused by a door being slightly open.Even if all the doors are shut correctly, one of the sensors in the car may be faulty, which makes the car think the door is open. It needs looking at by an Auto Electrician
@@TheCarKeyMan Thanks I'm not getting the chime after doing the cycle!! Just need to find out if my car has keyless entry, as I only have 2 standard tibbe keys.
Hi. Thanks for the useful trick to lock and unlock with a spare key. However, when attempting to start the engine with the second key, the red light in the middle of the dashboard blinks quickly leaving me with no other response. Basically the lock/unlock system is now working for the second key, but the same cannot be said when trying to start the engine. I have this problem on a late-2007 Ford Focus for which I bought a second key. Many thanks.
Hi, there are two parts to the key. This video shows how to re-code the buttons when they stop working after a key battery change. However, the other part to the key is a small chip, and this allows the car to start. This can only be programmed with a diagnostic machine. I would suggest doing a search for a local Car Key Man, just search for an Auto Locksmith
It's good that you're getting the first beep. If you don't get the second one of two things is happening. On the later models, sometimes the car doesn't beep when you press the key, but it still works the central locking after you have cycled the ignition. Or, there isn't a signal coming out of the key for the car to hear. Have you had your key checked to see if its transmitting ?
I can't get the car to sound after 0ressing remote button! I have no idea I got correct remote as car only came with the ignition key when purchased 2nd hand. How do I find out which key and frequency I need? It's a 2014 fiesta Ambiente (Australian release so European model I believe). I turn the ignition 8 times and get the chime but nothing when I press the remote to programme it 😞 Thanks.
I've only got one key with buttons, the other is a plain one. Central locking/unlocking stopped working today and immobiliser, of course, prevents me from starting the car.
Hello Romeo. Ok, so first thing is that the immobiliser is not linked to the buttons. So the key will still start the car even if the buttons stop working
@@TheCarKeyMan Thanks for that, worth knowing for future reference. Turns out my issue was very simple - car battery. Once I replaced the fob battery I went back to try only to find everything dead, no immobilizer flashing etc. Then it was clear. Replaced the battery and it fired up.
Facing a weird issue on my 2008 Fiesta. Auto Central lock isn't working ( both driver's side and passenger ) while driving. One can easily open the doors from outside. Plz help 🥺
Hi Euan, if you get the first beep you are doing it correctly. The second beep only happens if the car can 'hear' the key transmitting, so maybe there's a problem with the key?
Hi I have a ford transit connect I turn my key four times and I get a beep, then when I hold down the button on the key I don't get another beep again, I have sat holding the button down for a good 2 mins before and no second beep comes. I really don't know what to do
Hi Matthew. You are doing the correct thing because you get the beep. However, it sounds like there isn't a signal coming from your key, and so the van isn't hearing it. Once it hears the signal it should make the second beep and the key will work. You need to find someone who can test your key, an Aito Locksmiths or Timpsons shop> Hope thsi helps
Hello I have two remote keys. One was working while the other was not. I wanted to programme the other key so it programmed but the other stopped working. I swapped the batteries but now both have stopped working 🤬😡 Got new battering but they are not programming when i press any button. Tried the process several times but no idea what is going on now. Can you please advise?
Ok, so if you have managed to programme them in separately, then this is good news, because you know both work. Well the difficult thing can be getting the car into programming mode. Sometimes it takes more than 4 turns on and off of the ignition. Sometimes the car doesn't make any noise to let you know you are in programming mode. It really is just a case of keep trying until it works, there's no magic trick, sorry
@@TheCarKeyMan hello, no you misunderstood slightly. The car goes into programming mode and i hear the beep but the keys are not programming. It programmed the other key that was not working, but now both keys are not working. Is there a way of resetting the remotes in the keys or the remote locking device?
So, I have a question: I bought a ford focus with a normal key and a remote key. I have put a new battery in the remote key. I tried putting the car in program mode, that went well. But it does not seem to register the click of the remote key to program it. So is there a way to test if the remote is sending out a signal when pressed? When the key part is removed from the remote part should i be able to get visual feedback when pressing the button? There is a chance the remote is broken but i dont know how to test this.
Hello Thanks for the question. Ok, so a key cutting shop will have a key fob tester. They check if a signal comes out when the key is pressed. Here is the link to what I mean www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-INFRA-RED-RF-Key-Fob-Remote-Control-Tester-Detects-new-BMW-frequency/180978852285?hash=item2a232e21bd:g:uUAAAOxy7rdREmf8 Now a friendly key shop should have one and if you ask them to check the battery, they should check to see if it works. There isn't any other way to test it i'm afraid, other than getting a fob you know does work ( off another Ford Focus, Mondeo, fiersta etc, and trying to code it in. If it works on a different remote then you know that your one is faulty.
I have a Ford Fiesta 2006. I only have one key. It’s fully working, however, I’m now getting the “Key Fob Battery Low” warning on the dash. If I replace the battery and it requires reprogramming, can I do this with just the one key?
Hello Steve , I have just bought a Ford Fiesta 2007 and the central locking works on all the doors except passenger side door which stays locked. I then had a manual key and tried this and guess what all the locks opened including the passenger door , this was fine for about 8 times or so and now the manual key opens all the locks except the passenger side door. Any clues or suggestions of what it might be , I really don’t want to spend money on things which I do not need until I get a proper diagnosis, any help would be appreciated . Also my rear driver passenger doors whirs a lot after a new door lock assembly should this be like this. Thanks for any help
Hello Mohanlal, the system is quite simple. When you press the button on the key, or turn the key in the door lock, it sends a signal to a computer on the car. This coputer then tell each door to lock or unlock. It sems that your passenger door is misbehaving and probably needs looking at. That's my guess, but it really needs a look from someone locally
My ford figo 2010 originally came with one normal key and a remote key and I have lost my remote key. How to get the key with out changing whole central locking? P.s. i have the same key as shown in video.
Hi Abinash. I'm not sure of that model, what country are you in please? If the key looks the same, there are four things to think about You need a decent key. These keys are one of the few on the market that can be reused from one car to the next, so you could get a used key from another car, and just put a new blade on it. Next, you need to find someone to cut the key, which is easy enough if you find someone good Third you need to get the small electronic chip coded. This can only be done with a computer. Lastly, you can code the buttons using the method in this video. Hope this helps
Hi, yes the lost key will no longer work the buttons using this method, however, the chip inside with still start the car. This can only be fixed using a computer
Hi Samantha, it still works! If you have one key and are just trying to get the buttons working again, just press any button on your key after the car make a chime. When the car hears your key transmit it should make the same noise again. It should work fine
Hi @The Car Key Man, I have a Ford fiesta zetec 2008 and I have a key that starts the car but doesn't have remote locking (doesn't have any buttons on it). Can I use this key to program and a new remote key fob to work with the immboliser as well as the central locking? Or do I have to program it though the OBD port? Thanks for any help in advance
Hi sir I am havind ford fiesta 2010 model for which i lost remote key and now i have simple key with me so when i wants fo programme new remote key its not happening after follow this process as well can you please help us in same
Also, I'm trying to reprogramme my original key as it seems I'm having difficulty with my sensor for central locking, I have to go around the car holding and pressing the buttons in different directions and several times for it to lock and unlock, I've changed battery 4 months ago and was working fine and from afar up to a month ago, any ideas whether this would be the key or a car problem?
Not sure which part worked for it but I changed the case and buttons and reprogrammed with this technique and works perfectly now 😊 thanks for your video would never have known you can do that in your car
I have lost my key with the remote and i only have the spare key without a remote now. I understand how to program the buttons for the central locking but if i were to get a new key i would have to reprogram the transponder chip. Is that something that i can do myself or do i need to go to a specialized shop for this? I don't live in the uk so i can't come to you guys.
@@TheCarKeyMan Can you tell me how to purchase a key which will work the central locking as I've just bought a car for my son and it only comes with a key that doesn't operate this........
Hi. Please help. I can't find anything on the internet for my problem. My 2008 ford bantam, doors unlock and locks after I press the unlock button. It does the same when I insert the key into the drive door. But it works perfectly from the passenger door key hole and from inside door handle lock. Please please somebody help.
Hi, well you are doing everything correctly, it sounds like the car is going into programming mode. However it sounds like the key isn't transmitting a signal, (the car isn't detecting the key).
Hi, sorry I missed your reply! Well once the car beeps then any key you press should make the car beep again. This simply means the car has 'heard' the key. Does that make sense? So if the car beeps when you press the button on your original key, but not on the new one, then there is a problem with the new key
Hi Steve, I have a 2009 ford fiesta S (Indian variant) I recently put a new battery in the car post which I observed that the car does not open with the remote key if it’s not in use for a couple of weeks and once it is opened manually through the door after ignition is turned on the key starts working properly.I am not sure if the programming of the key has any issue or if i forgot to disengage the security lock before putting in a new battery, not sure what could be the possible reason for the key not working..could you please share your thoughts on this case..thanks in advance. BR Deep
Hi Car Key Man, I’m not sure if you’d respond but I’ll try my luck anyway, I have a 2007 fiesta got a key that works electronically that came with the car and just a normal Ford spare key but wondered could I buy a newer Ford key fob and code that using this method to the car for locking and unlocked even though the key is a newer model than the car?
Can’t get this to work. Noticed nether car was locking and unlocking intermittently so changed the fob battery then tried your steps here and I get the chime but key will not program. I can’t access my boot now as it’s electronic only. I’m stumped. Fiesta 2009 plate.
Hi, If you're getting the chime you're doing everything correctly. The problem is that the car is not 'hearing' the key. If it can't detect the key, then maybe there's an issue with the battery you've put in?
Hi, thank you for the video? Will this work also for an MK4 (1998) fiesta? both my 2 key fobs don't work anymore, I only can open manually the doors and I'm also able to start the engine but the alarm red LED stays always on. My key fob has only 2 buttons (one for open and close the central locking and the other one to activate the alarm). Is it possible to clone it using the 3 button key fob type (the one you show in the video), because I can't find the 2 button model ? Thanks
Hello Michele, it really depends. This method may work for your car, but from memory there is another method that involves turning the rear demister on and off while programming. (it will be on the internet somewhere) I think a three button key will code in fine to yors, but again, it's been a while. Best advice is to find a good local car key person and get some advice locally
im having problems with my imobliser it wont open the car.ie the lights dont flash like normal.i can open the car and ignition lights come on.but it wont turn.i have a ford focus 1.6 2006 titanuim.i just tried the above ,but it didnt work just made a ticking noise at the front and when i locked it one doors was still open..help please
Hi mate i replaced the motherboard in my key as the buttons didnt work at all. Ive reporgrammed it and now it locks and boot unlocks. But the car itself wont unlock
Hi i have a 2003 fiesta tdci with central locking locking to make it remote central locking is just a case of getting a gem that does remote locking and swapping it over then programme a remote key fob.. Thanks
Hi Paul. First thing is to find out if your car can have a remote key. When you switch the car ignition on and off four times, does the car make a 'bong' or chime, or something similar?
Ok, if it doesn't make any noise, then it may not be fitted for remote central locking. I've not heard of anyone changing the GEM to allow central locking, let us know if it works please?
Ok I'll let you know there's a few videos that tell you can do that with the right gem that has remote central locking but I've not tried it yet doing so checking before I do but thanks for your response 👍🏽
Hi, i accidentally washed my key in a washing machine for 30 mins before i realised it. I pulled it out and dried it as soon as possible. I have tried changing the battery, brush off the corrossions with rubbing alcohol. The key remote does not work any more but the chip that starts the engine still works. Is there a way to fix the remote? Thanks in advance
Hi, i've changed the battery in my key fob as per the instructions in.your video, my key still won't work, i get the first beep when trying to reprogramme the key but don't get the second beep when you press the button on the key fob...any advise please...been driving me mad 😭😭xxx
Hi Claire, you are doing it correctly. The reason you don't hear second beep is that the car isn't hearing a signal from the key. Have you seen our video that shows how to change the key battery?
When was the last time it worked? Did it gradually get worse or did it stop suddenly? Have you had the key tested at a key cutting shop to see if it's sending out a signal?
The Car Key Man, my other half took the battery out a few months ago put it straight back in but it hasn't worked since, will take it and get it tested. Thanks for your help.xx
