the worst part of my 2023 was when my i was explaining sanjapan to my mother after it happened and she simply responded with "Oh? it was in Texas? We could've gone!" ... at least i can finally experience it in some capacity.

1:00:46 "How do you navigate through copyright laws?" "By not making money" That's what I assumed, but I wonder where the lines are. It's such a shame there are so many people putting serious and professional effort into the project, but they're not getting any kind of financial compensation (you guys deserve to have at least some guaranteed stability/sustainability, so you can keep doing it without external worries). I imagine charging for the game itself is out of question, but I wonder about setting something like a Patreon or Kickstarter to fund the production of the game itself. I'm a Danganronpa fan myself, but I can't even imagine having the motivation you guys have to make a project like this. Either way, thanks for all the dedication (I have no doubt the game will be amazing)!

I can’t wait to see if my Kai The King of Comedy poster got featured in this! It was a custom poster I gotten just for this event! This was my very first anime convention I went to and it was very enjoyable, the staff were so much fun to hang around! ❤️❤️❤️

This is incredible! The Eden garden team and not one, not two, but three voice actors, Kai, Eloise my second favorite character, and tozu himself which he's my number 1 favorite character. 2 out of 3 of my favorites characters which I'm so happy.😁 If I want to be little bit greedy, I really want to see the voice actor of Jett on the panel which he's my third favorite character. I love how tozu ask Kai to Eden prom, which I was laughing so hard for a solid minute.😂 I'm so excited to hear mara voice, because she the only character that we haven't heard. 1:01:00 -Actually, you -_-can-_ _[I don't think it would be impossible to]_ copyright an art style. But more than that, I'd say the trial room is likely copyright infringement of Danganronpa V3 and the game mechanics (which _can_ _[at least in part]_ be copyrighted) are likely copyright infringement of the Danganronpa games in general. -Also, the use of terms like "Truth Bullet" might be trademark infringement.- Finally, this fangame is especially dangerous for two reasons: first, that it offers a free alternative to the official games that looks and works exactly like the official games; second, that since it tries to distance itself from the main franchise (so much so that it was once said to be a game _inspired_ by Danganronpa), it poses the danger of Spike Chunsoft losing control of its own intellectual property to this this team.

@@AnthonyMiele Regarding copyrighting an art style: I didn't phrase it accordingly to my actual knowledge of the matter, I made a statement of fact out of an opinion, and for that, I apologize. I meant that it's not outside of the realm of possibilities for something like that to be established, as there have been rulings establishing copyright infringement on the style of musical compositions. Whether or not you can copyright something depends on whether or not a court will find that something to be protected by copyright. Also, while it may not be able to be copyrighted, it can definitely be trademarked to a certain extent. But I don't think this is worth discussing, since its art stile isn't unique to those games. Regarding the second point specifically, it doesn't matter that the assets are original. The entire design of the courtroom is pretty much identical to the Danganronpa V3 one: the stained glass windows, the iron bars behind the gallery, the sixteen circular podiums arranged in a circle, the throne at one end of the room. These are all elements that are specific to Danganronpa V3's expression of a trial hall and none of these are strictly necessary for the purpose of the game. Confer, e.g., YTTD's main game ground, which is significantly different and also shows that the use of that specific trial hall design is neither a scene-a-faire nor a necessary component of the trial hall design. Of course, that's not the only copyrighted element. Besides the characteristic gameplay, there's the UI, the use of a manga to summarize the case, the near-identical speech bubbles, the class trial CG, and the many elements that serve no purpose other that making it similar to Danganronpa. Again, compare YTTD for an example of what is an original expression of very similar base ideas. There is no such thing as a fangame that doesn't have any copyright infringement. The moment you choose to freeload off someone else's originality, regardless of your intentions, you cannot expect yourself to be legally in the clear.

⁠⁠⁠⁠@@AulusAugerius I see your point, but the part about the trial room makes me think you’ve never seen a shitty ripoff in your life. They can _absolutely_ get away with making a room that closely resembles your typical trial room as long as it’s not literally the same thing. Also, it’s been a year. If they were going to be sued, it likely would’ve happened already. Also also… you do realise that there’s, like… other Danganronpa fan games besides this one, right? One of which literally rips Monokuma’s sprites straight from the game, and still hasn’t been touched? Spike Chunsoft has, to my knowledge, never done that and it’s safe to say they never will. And another final thing… “there’s no such thing as a fan game that doesn’t have any copyright infringement?” Three words: Sonic the Hedgehog. Those guys allow their fanbase to get away with all sorts of “copyright infringement”.

@@markeronacomputer7469 I'm not saying that their use of Danganronpa IP is necessarily wrong, just that it's not safe. It's very much possible that Spike Chunsoft has better things to do than pursuing fangans. That doesn't mean it isn't possible for them to take this fangan down, especially considering that this is (to my knowledge) the only fangan that constitutes a viable free alternative to the Danganronpa games. All of the other games have worse graphics and mechanics, and they are usually 2D: this is the only one that promised and has thus far delivered a truly Danganronpa-like user experience. After all, there is a reason if ripoffs are "shitty". There are also risks with P:EG establishing new IP built over Spike Chunsoft's IP. In the same way, the fact that Sega doesn't sue fangames doesn't mean that those fangames aren't copyright infringement. It's simply up to Sega if and when to sue. As for ripoff videogames, have you ever heard of Mino? Look up what happened to that.
