It's a twin scroll turbine housing, put a throttle blade on a wastegate actuator in one of the entry's to force all the exhaust through just 1 side. Makes a big difference.
These engines are amazing and they sound incredible. You could go for a bigger cold side on the turbs, small hot side for faster spool and wastegate whatever you don’t need. If this slingshot doesn’t make 1000hp you’re doing it wrong. Corky Bell, Maximum Boost is the bible for this. Using the book, I built an SR20DET that would go from zero to Warp 10 in a flash, and it was bloody terrifying. Always wanted to twin turbo a 1UZ but wife, divorce reasons squished that plan.
G'day from West Australia, recon you better do a nullabour run for top end speed run, nice long road to stretch them there legs right out!!! Seriously though that's a wild ride you built, take my hat off to that effort😉🙂👍👍🧢
You guys doing it all the right way and using all the right stuff, I just sorta finished my LS400 with a Chinese 3540 copy hanging out behind the diff, everything all stock apart from a fuel pump and upped fuel pressure, dunno what it's making power wise but I'm just about staying sorta safe ish AFR wise at 7lb. I use a modified Citroen electric power steering pump to feed the turbo oil totally low budget AF, not gonna set the world on fire but its fun, wish I had a bigger budget mind! Awesome build yours, looking forward to 30lbs😲😲👍
thought this was NUGGET garage. that is no NUGGET you have built there boys . CONGRATS great work. awesome Fab and thanks for taking me along for the ride.
Guy's, this car is fantastic! Everything about it is awesome. You should be really proud of yourself. Looks, sounds everything! It's just awesome! Thanks for the inspiring vids guy, not only informative but very inspiring to get something back in the Shed and start spinning a Spanner or two.
Great proof of concept boys! The rods will be appreciative of the lack of boost down low hahaha. But will be mint to get that choo-choo papi lit a bit sooner though. Nice work fellas 👌🏻
You could put a valve after the turbo exhaust outlet. Make it so it's nearly closed at idle then fully open once it has spooled. Could even control it off of rpm.
Looking forward to seeing you run it down the quarter. Such a classic body shape - still looks good even after 25 years later! They should have stopped here and never built the prius
The gas will fix up alot of that lag for sure. Looking forward to what it does with the gas and more boost 😎🤘 Beautiful build and sounds amazing. Go the mighty lagpra!
Sweet! Could you try a quick spool valve set up where both exhausts plumb to the front scroll of the GT47 and both wastegates set at like 5psi to the rear scroll? Log EBP ofcourse and I reckon that might knock a few thousand rpm off the curve.
God always said if I got a MK4 I wanted to do a UZ Swap on one~ Especially if it was a N/A Supra.... then take the N/A 2JZ and put that in a Hatchi or something. x3
Love this build. Great to see people doing something different just because. Sounds epic! Looking forward to the next instalment. Have you seen Mike O’Brien’s (3D Magic Mike) Datsun 620 Ute build on IG? Twin rear mount turbo on a 1UZ!
Drive train combo makes this one classy Toyota. Lusted after these hard in the late 90s early 2000's. Not many round in Tassie though. Seemed so exotic.
Surely the excess lag is a product of too larger primary feed pipe sizing more so than the actual rear mounting itself . Of course it’s a big turbo but I do think a smaller primary runner would improve it.
Yeah WOW... The smile on your face... when she fired up was enough Sir Hoff...She sounds Biblical, makes good power too.... Wait..there's more in it??!!! Love the sound Guys.... Perfection there... the rest is a bonus!! Love the Channel!
Shit yeah.. gonna make for some impressive fly bys once the race is done!! 😅 Sounds mint cant wait to hear it at the track of i manage to get my ass out there one day. 1uz looks factory fitted too! 👌🏽
