While I don't really love this movie as a prequel to Alien, (I think that learning the origins of the Alien just kills all the mystique and the feeling of cosmic horror they create) I can't deny that this movie is still gorgeously-shot and has some undeniably terrifying scenes.
@mycroft16
@mycroft16 2 года назад
100% agree. The mystery made them more terrifying... but god damn this is a very well made film. No denying that.
@bonchbonch
@bonchbonch 2 года назад
I used to feel that way until I realized the movie actually added to their mystery. Instead of being naturally-occurring organisms that coincidentally evolved the ability to attach to a human host and feed them oxygen, they're now the result of an even more mysterious "Giger goo" that turns any DNA into an H.R. Giger monster. Imagine all the cosmic horrors this black stuff might have produced throughout the universe. The xenomorphs are just one creepy form we've seen.
@Arthaius
@Arthaius 2 года назад
@@bonchbonch - And, does it not also increase the scariness of them once you finally realize that the Xenomorphs exist because of their having integrated the human DNA into themselves, which incidentally also explains why they are so humanoid in form; 2 arms, 2 legs (Bi-pedal), upright posture, opposable thumbs, etc etc and of course, their highly advanced intelligence, of course they also have the DNA of The Founders in them as well, but that is essentially also human DNA seeing as our species was derived from their own DNA. :)

@nathanielmorgan9108
@nathanielmorgan9108 Год назад
It's not the origin of the aliens, there's still so much mystery. I think it adds to the horror, the xenomorphs had become an Iconic image, their horror was lost, by making it the black goo that's the destructive organism, it means it can adapt itself in any way, allowing for an unlimited amount of creatures depending on the circumstances they're created.

That's because most of the "Aliens" films, past number two, are straight garbage. So those don't really even need to be watched by anybody. "Prometheus" is a good movie, by itself, in such a way that it doesn't really need to be watched in conjunction with the "Alien" movies. It lives quite well on its' own as a horror/sci-fi flick.

As always your reactions are just to cool. I was surprised you didn't recognize the alien ship and the chair the alien sat in. They were from the first movie and a little in the second one. It was the ship with the eggs and the alien in the chair with it's ribs blown outward. But you have seen a lot of movies lately and didn't realize what they were. Still great reactions and love your videos.
@changsangma1915
@changsangma1915 2 года назад
Well theres a theory the humanoid alien in Prometheus are not the same species as the alien corpse in the first movie. For one the ship exterior look mechanical in this movie compared to the first film, the chair prosthetics is also mechanical in here but the first movie showed the alien corpse to be bio integrated to the controls. It is also postulated the first movie alien ship is entirely biological in its construction....meaning when it was operating it was sort of alive. There could be two different factions of these humanoids where one seem to be Superior in technology than the other by just a marginal gap.

mary cherry do you have any "bush man prank" people in Australia? I think it got started here in the San Francisco Bay Area, at least, we had a bushman back in the 80s up until like 2020, when the original father and son quit doing it because of the pandemic. But a new guy has started the tradition again. lol. The original was a guy who would carry an artificial bush with him, and sit in random places in Fisherman's Wharf and along the Embarcadero, and you would be walking around and he would jump out from behind the bush and scare you. Later on he had a thing he would cover himself with that looked like ivy or a bush, and he would jump out from that lmao. Growing up, pretty much everybody in the Bay Area does a field trip to San Francisco in school and you usually do the ferry out to Alcatraz, so most of us saw the Bushman lol. The new guy not only has the ivy suit, but he has branches, so he can reach out to you from a couple yards (a couple meters) away. lmao 🙂

Fun Fact: the Prometheus script is actually a revived script for the original Alien 2. Back in the day, when the first Alien film was released, plans for a sequel were made and a draft was written that sort of expanded on the origins of the Alien and expanded upon the space jockey (Engineers) seen in the first movie. Basically the same story this movie is based on. These plans were abandoned and the reigns were handed over to James Cameron and Aliens was made instead. In a way, this means there was never an actual Alien 2 until now.

Ahhhh watch "Raised By Wolves" next!!! It has nothing to do with any of Ridley Scott's previous work, the screenplay was written by someone else with a proclivity for similar aesthetics, AND IT IS SO FRICKEN WILD. 😍😍 Also, i watched this NOT KNOWING it was an Alien prequel. Messed with me. Lol

The Medipod is not for Miss Vickers usage. That's why it specified is "Calibrated for Male Use Only". The safe pod detachable ship is, as the Medipod in it, for Mr Weyland. It's difficult to catch that detail at first watching though.

Wayland-Yutani is the Company How Runs The Nostromo and The Station on LV426. Also in Alien 3, are references. And in AVP. So The Basically Searching all the Time For the Alien.

this has huge gaps in the plot, characters just disappear. while there is a lot of good bits in it i found it unsatisfying

The original screenplay WAS rather good, and had lots of xenomorphs and gunfights. That's all we wanted.

16:56 This movie's veeeeery slightly funnier when you realise that recorded Engineer's playing Popeye The Sailor Man on his flute to get the navigation array online.

Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead 3. I know lots of people love the TV show too, but it didn't click with me.
