I was conflicted on it because she is _extremely_ condescending to him and constantly emphasizes how he's less than human (which is a reflection of how the Engineers regard Humans), so it feels a little bit earned, too…

I actually saw this in theaters despite my horror movie resentment. Still not ok with the lack of common sense of the pilots and James Franko getting offed in the very beginning. The David twist at the end had me REEEALING!!🤣

Special note about the aliens.... David does not have credit for engineering the existence of xenomorphs.... the black goo is a bio weapon that will become a xenomorph by whatever path or raw materials are presented to it. That is how Prometheus and Covenant do not break all the rest of aliens or predator canon. All David did was activate a new hive from the source material.

The pathogen creates death in whatever method it chooses. David created the specific xenomorph by breeding it. The white creatures earlier in the movie are called neomorphs.

It is not a pathogen that creates generic death in carnate, It is designed to go by any path possible to the zinomorph template That is the preprogrammed end state. David didn't design or refine it he unlocked it. The design was already there.

It's the build up. The sweating, the changing of skin color from normal to red to pale white. The stellar acting, really selling the performance of not being able to communicate when sick and scared, eventually seizing. All tied together by the haunting soundtrack. Almost lost my lunch watching that scene.

None of them are scientists, though. The Prometheus was a research vessel, but these people are aiming to be pioneers - they've got instruments they trust that scanned the planet and said it was fine, and they don't know they're in an Alien movie.

I'm sure that ANY company that is spending trillions to send people into space (even if they're just pioneers) would have them go through basic hazmat and safety protocols. These characters in the film are just downright idiots.

Thanks for checking this movie, not many reactors cover the alien movies beyond the first 2, have a mixed impression on these Prequels but they've gained a following in the subsequent years, still waiting for Ridley Scott to make the final one setting up the original film. despite some short coming the 3rd Alien film would be curious to cover because of its shocking unconventional creative choices.

The engineers created the first xenomorphs, David just took their scriptures and knowledge on how to use the pathogen (genetic accelerator) in order to make his own type of Xenomorphs (aliens). So the engineers created many life forms including us. In away the xenomorphs are our biological cousins. David used the pathogen and Shaws womb to create the first breeding xenomoprh (Queen alien). So the two facehugger embryos you see at the end are queen fachuggers made from her womb and that will inpreganate Queens into people.

One very underappreciated film by Ridley Scott is “A Good Year” with Russel Crowe (Gladiator) and Marion Cotillard (Dark Knight Rises, La vie en rose, Inception). Guaranteed a good time, funny, and no gore.

The thing about this movie that just outright pissed me off was the complete lack of common sense and the clumsiness. Who in their right mind is going to walk into an alien world with life without a respirator or any form of PPE from alien microbes that are in the air. Airtight PPE would’ve prevented the entire neomorph incident at least until David arrived.

3:23 that's how the astronauts died in Apollo 1. High oxygen atmosphere in the capsule, somehow there was a spark, and were unable to escape the capsule, so they burned alive 😞

As far as I know - The Aliens (Xenomorph Species) was an actual species that once lived (and still lives on Xenomorph Prime). David saw the pictures of these beings and the DNA that the engineers possessed and managed to reverse-engineer this species. Creating the modern-day xenomorphs (aliens) that we all know and hate.

You really should take a look at Alien 3, and at Alien Resurrection too. I have had the Alien Quadrilogy on a Blu-Ray boxset for quite a few years now. Some people can be a bit sniffy about Alien 3 and the fourth film (Alien Resurrection) and to be fair, the best film in the whole ALIEN franchise is ALIEN. But there is a good cast in Alien 3 and in Alien Resurrection, plus some interesting and thought provoking ideas.

This movie may not be perfect but I still love it as it’s own installment in the Alien universe. That back burster is the closest thing we’ve gotten to the chest burster scene in the og film. The build, writhing & convulsions, you can hear the flesh and bones gradually being torn apart and broken, and of course the burst with lots of blood.

Blade Runner is a must watch Ridley Scott movie if you haven't seen it. Also, American Gangster, Body of Lies, Black Hawk Down, and Gladiator are really good films.
