I loved my machine but I recall the Tibook had lots of issues on the chassis. The paint would flake, rubber stubs would get loose, and the hinge tend to break if you are not careful. Despite of all these, it was one of the nicer notebooks out back then. Though I argue that the Pismo Powerbook G3 was still the king of Apple notebooks in that generation.
I believe you. And I think what it shows is that above all else, above the innovative and artistic aesthetic, apart from the design and implementation ethics, Apple's crowning achievement is in the marketing. To put it bluntly they really do know spin better than any other company.
I love this computer, i had an original one with 500mhz, but it was cooked and the charging was broken, but i loved so much, now i have PowerBook G3 Pismo 500Mhz, but it isn't so good like G4..
@MetroidPrimefan1 I'm not so sure, because the aluminium is quite easily dented due to the malleability of alluminium... most titanium powerbooks only have an issue with the paint and hinge design problems which is not because of titanium... problem was titanium costs more than aluminium and they needed to keep costs down.
@beto079 It had some major design flaws, though. An especially weak hinge (it typically broke on the left side, poor latch design, which carried over to the aluminum G4 models and the paint tended to peel.) It looked cool, yes, but Apple learned from these design flaws and corrected most of them with the later aluminum models. And the unibody aluminum models are just completely better in almost every way. The Titanium G4 was great for its time, but that was a long time ago.
the TiBook is the best laptop design ever!! Just see how thin is the border around the screen, the colors, the cover of the back ports, it is the best. I wish they could were able to fit the newest hardware in that beautiful design!! The aluminium powerbooks and MacBook pro have lost some "coolness" compared with the first Titanium PB.
No, I understand the benefits of aluminium. But the more pertinent point is they would have known all that before no? So why go with titanium in the first place? The advert here conveys that titanium is the best material to use above all others.
That's alright mate. Any comment that doesn't descend into needly bitchy and aggressive fanboyism is appreciated/. I have to say though, I love the Intel switch. I concede that Intel's moral compass is a little skewed with the way they'd been treating AMD, but there's no getting pat how awesome it is to have a PC on your Mac. It's a huge draw to have near-total application compatibility. I need your opinion though. Should I buy regular Office or Office For Mac? (Price is an issue.)
