I just rewatched this and I see some errors that I do need to correct!!! My last range trip had my neck and shoulders kinked up pretty bad. I knew I was not right and since there are no shooting coaches around me that I know of this helped a ton!!

Love getting advice from intelligent shooters. I had C 5,6&7 reconstructed and being in prone now is torture. See if this helps.

when shooting prone, do you relax shoulder muscle and let the gun recoil?

They are special sand bag rifle rests...at least mine feels like it has sand in it.

the smal bag in the back is sand. the bag your shooting of usualy holds everything els you need. depending on what you are out to do like wether clothing, radio, ropes and so on

Nice video. The biggest problem I have is my collar bone. When I am comfortable, the buttstock in directly on my collar bone. Not a problem with 5.56. But when I step up to .308 or larger, each shot is a lot of pain directly on that bone. I’ve never been able to get a good fix for this. If I rise up to put the collar bone above the buttstock, my back starts to feel tension. If I put the buttstock directly into the shoulder, my neck feels the tension
@TheWarriorWorkshop
@TheWarriorWorkshop 6 лет назад
Yeah that stung a little bit. Yes, I do workout everyday...I’m on my way there now. I do have adjustable buttstocks. I guess I should have mentioned that I have a steel rod running through both my collarbone. But, it shouldn’t matter if it’s a thumper. If the technique is correct, you take the rifle out of pain causing areas. I just don’t know what that looks like

I have same issue. Have you figured out a good solution? 7.62x54r hurts when I am in the prone position, but with the muzzle brake that is on it, I can shoot just fine without discomfort kneeling or standing.

Ryan, your videos are top notch and so is your book...in your book you suggest to rest the rifle on a bag....which you do in this video....how flexible should the bag be, in the video it looks like its almost empty! Should I pack a jacket in it to make it more puffy/sturdy....does it matter..., should I use a short bipod set on the bag??.....my gear bag is not full yet at all and I am just wondering how to go about it!?Thanks for all the great info you offer to all of us!!

Mr Ryan what kind of ear protection do you use ?
@udontneedtono9825

Ryan, thanks man. I’m following your lead. Looking forward to transforming your instructions into reality. I’m lucky to have this guidance and direction. Shooting the Ruger Precision in .308. I know it’s not a 300, .338, .408, .416, or the .50......all in due time. But I know following you will lead to proper shot placements. Was wondering....are you able to teach us reading wind and mirage? That’s the variable I’m trying to bridle, the contributing factor that is mastered with pulling the trigger I know, but thought I’d ask.

Ryan, Love your approach to teaching long range shooting. My question is what type of hearing protection are you utilizing? 👍🏽😎
@michaelfodor6280
@michaelfodor6280 6 лет назад
My guess would be custom made ones. Any place that does industrial / construction hearing testing should be able to either make them for you or refer you to someone who does. I use a pair and find them worth the price since they don't get in the way of a good cheek weld.

As someone thicker in the chest, I can't raise my head in a way that doesn't fatigue my neck muscles. Besides losing weight, any suggestion about using a rolled up shooting mat or something else to get into optimal position?
@RangerCaptain11A

yeah, me too. the way he had his head would make the scope shadow easy to fix. i think i need to put my bipod legs on flat sandbags and get a taller rear bag.

Wilfred Darr Also that rifle setup and what ear protection you are wearing.
@wilfdarr
@wilfdarr 4 года назад
@@jb2009BCT The ear pugs look like the custom jobbies you get from the audiologist (about $100 20 years ago, not sure what they are now; each audiologist has their own brand, but that's not important. But as far as price and protection goes they're all the same as far as you're concerned; only the sales contract for the audiologist changes). If you're using them every day they're totally worth it (just dollar for dollar even, you'll easily go through $100 in foamies, not to mention the comfort and additional protection), and last between 2 and 4 years (mine lasted only about 2 years but they were abused and didn't owe me anything).

@@anthonymccoy4460 Ya, considering how far epoxies have come in the last 20 years, no doubt the price to make them has come way down. Good to know.

Cool enough, thnx! If i may add, when shooting a more traditional hold, with support hand on the forearm, it is conducive to accuracy, bc ergonomics, to have your body laying at around a 45 degree angle from the rifle..body to the left of a right handed shooter & vice versa. Body angle should be adjusted depending on arm length & where the support hand will be..further fwd or closer to the rifles action. In the field, not everyone will have a bag rest. Ofc with your method of employing a rest with support hand behind the trigger hand, this is less of an issue.
