I have a reverse-facing cervix which makes smear tests more difficult. At my last one the nurse did her best but then asked if I would be alright with her going to get a doctor to assist. "She's just down the hall, I can see if she's free." I gave my consent, but as I lay there on the bed, still naked from the waist down, legs akimbo, it dawned on me that I was assuming the doctor would be a woman based only on the fact the nurse had used female pronouns. Thankfully the doctor who walked through the door _was_ a woman, but it's awful that I even had to worry about this!

There is no legitimate reason to display flags and badges in any workplace. The individuals employed there are agents of service. That's all. One's personal or political beliefs have no place in a work environment. Neither should a company or service adopt a political or ideological stance. It is inappropriate and unnecessary.

I thank my lucky stars that I work for a neurologist (a bad ass female, no less) who has expressed distain for all of this nonsense and refuses to go with it while at work. I am grateful to the nurses I have worked with who have refused to go along with this. This b.s. has no place is medicine, schools, government... The only place for this nonsense is in your own home, where you can play pretend all you want without pushing it on others.

All NHS records are electronic. It will audit anyone that access’s a patient’s notes - name of worker, time and date. Not to say it would nt happen, but there would be an audit trail. It’s a very serious offence to access patient notes when you don’t have a legitimate reason to do so.

I just signed a petition in Colorado USA to stop schools from transing children without contacting parents. I asked the petition carrier how it was being received and she said most people were uneducated and were not really aware about what was going on, but they did sign it. Fewer people signed the one on keeping men out of women's sport. So sorry about these people talking about your children. How low can a person get.

I work for a gp surgery and thankfully we don’t have any of this nonsense. However we were all asked if we wanted a surgery fleece but I said I wouldn’t have one as it had a NHS rainbow logo on it. They all know my views at work and I try to educate them. Mostly they totally don’t have a clue about all this!

I spoke up to our local conservative MP on Saturday and asked what his plans were re the GRA , women only spaces, trans BS in schools and the fact his page says ‘suggesting change’ which means nothing . At a primary school I work at, nursery children call the staff including the head teacher by their first names. I was shocked when I learned about this. Totally inappropriate imo.
When did the NHS acquire a Patient Investigation Department? What is the due process for investigating a problematic patient, where is the transparency and the oversight in this process and what redress does a patient have if they feel they have been unfairly treated?

I agree with you 1000% on this. Any woman who thinks she is safe from this insanity is very sadly wrong. Any woman can say she thinks twaw until she faces the reality of what it means. My nhs story was being lied to about female only care. It took me 3 years to finally speak up, and the GP wrote on my notes 'she can't cope with men'. She couldn’t even bring herself to write what I'd actually said. That I felt it was abusive to lie to me and then wake up to a man who claims he's a woman and how could I trust that I wouldn't be lied to again... and the chilling effect is that I'm disabled and have chronic health conditions and can't afford to either leave or be kicked off their list because its the nearest surgery in an emergency and over the years there have been a few. I hate how weak and cowardly it makes me feel.

GP surgeries are businesses, so they can basically do what they like. My local surgery doesn't go in for this nonsense because they have a large English-not-first-language client base, and know better than to confuse or antagonise them.
kelly Jay, I am right behind you in your anger. However, by far the majority of GP surgeries are not NHS organisations but they provide services to NHS patients. GPs never joined the NHS. I don't know what effect that has but it is possible that the partners in that practice could make it a policy not to wear NHS lanyards and certainly not have pronouns. I am amazed that they haven't done that. COI. retired GP.
I was working in a health service and we were told if we wanted pronouns in our signatures to let the receptionist know and she'd set it up. I didn't but next time I looked there they were. And noone even asked me what my pronouns are! I was furious, but I couldn't risk losing the contract by saying anything.
This push of pronoun badges and signing off staff emails with preferred pronouns comes from the hierarchy of the NHS itself. Staff have been actively encouraged to do this along with the rainbow icons...so as to make the LGBT blah blah blah community feel comfortable and not triggered...doesn't really matter about whether you agree with it or not or whether a female patient who has experienced trauma gets triggered by the sight of a man dressed as a female nurse! The younger end of staff quite happily go with it as "being kind" and progressive. The ones who disagree feel intimidated enough by the 'cancel' brigade (and mandatory diversity courses from HR) to keep quiet. While the term gender dysphoria is considered a stand alone phenomena and not (for a very few) part of a subset of symptoms underlying some other psychological problem(s) and treated as such, then this nonsense of colluding and not offering the correct therapy will continue...along with the "preferred pronoun" idiocy.

My 82 yr old Dad has refused having a male carer shower my disabled mother. And i back him 100%. I dread hospitals after being sexually assaulted by a male orderly in the lift. The hospital and police covered it up and even the social worker assumed this piece of shit had being doing this on a regular basis, but she didnt want to put her hand up incase she lost her job. This was 20 plus yrs ago. I wonder if she made the right decision before retiring fron her job within the public health system. I dread being vulnerable and unwell to the point of going to hospital. I would rather die in my bed than go to hospital now. Ive also stood up for my Dad, who almost died twice due to an incompetent heart specialist who gave him the wrong medication twice. It put my Dad into ventricular heart rate of 180 for 3 days and he had collected 15 kgs of water in his limbs and around his heart. I called the ambulance and we saw a new experienced cardiologist who sorted Dad out. I wrote to the head of our hospital and basically told them that this idiot cardiologist did not read DaDs notes, which said in big red writing.....Cannot tolerate betablockers. This idiot was fired and repositioned at another hospital in a different town. Shows me that our health system is completely compromised and untrustworthy. As an ex Reg nurse, i am horrified at what we have become.

General medical practitioners are not directly employed by the NHS but work under contract. The contract is quite strict when it comes to discrimination in any form. A quick phone call to the Local Area Team could potentially cause problems and extra work for the practice and a letter or phone call to the Care Quality Commission will almost certainly have them asking questions of this practice. The CQC regularly inspect and have to approve medical practices and the paperwork involved is a massive headache (and mostly a waste of time) and no practice wants to get on the wrong side of the CQC. A letter to the General Medical Council might also elicit some questioning of the senior General Practitioner/s, however I have heard that the GMC is pretty woke these days, so this might get you nowhere. I was a General Dental Practitioner working for the NHS for 31 years. Our contract contained anti discrimination rules just like the GMP’s contract and we were given fairly tight criteria for de registering a patient, things such as violence or abuse are obvious reasons, however, I have never seen legally protected political beliefs being included as a legitimate reason to de register anyone.
So glad I retired early because of the Plandemic. If I had all this pronoun stuff at work I would say "call me whatever you like when I'm not in the room, I don't care". If forced to put something in an email signature I would put "whatever/you/like".

No matter how ugly a pronoun badge is or how much I disagree with it, it would not be an issue if these people didn't force me to call them something they are not, I would not have an issue. I don't care if people wear a ring to show they are engaged or something. I don't care about people displaying any other kind of symbols. A sport team symbol at the workplace can be seen as not very professional, but I would care about any of that because I know they are not going to force me to engage in supporting what they support.

I know some Christian carers who wear small cross necklaces to work, and while it doesn’t bother ME personally, plus I don’t know of any current patients that have complained about it, either..? Obviously, if one DID, that patient would be totally in the right! If you are a strong atheist, who feels uncomfortable with a nurse wearing a cross necklace around you, and you point that out..? Me thinks the nurse should humbly apologize, say you’re completely RIGHT, and take it off!! (I just haven’t made this an issue, where I work, because as I said, it does not personally bother ME.) Same goes for any nurse wearing an atheist pin to work, that may upset Christian patients! And also, same thing goes for “pronoun badges”! Some people don’t take issue with them. (Mostly because they don’t know any better.) But that still doesn’t change the fact that it’s extremely inappropriate, and unprofessional, and everyone SHOULD have the right to take issue!! I think we need to just ban any and all visible religious symbols, OR political symbols, within the nursing profession! (If you wear a cross necklace or pin that no one sees, on the inside of your uniform, whatever.) So much support to you!! That woman was being COMPLETELY ridiculous, during that call, and practicing ACTUAL discrimination. You had every right to get angry!! I know I would have been, too.
