Except in Ukraine. When Russia invaded they stole all the big pieces of farm equipment and took them to Russia's farming regions for black market sales. The Ukrainian farmers simply contacted the local John Deere dealer, the dealer contacted John Deere corporate, and they shut down the vehicles through GPS and the internet. DOA in the middle of the Russia grain fields

I got laid off from Caterpillar Tractor in 1983. 10,000 at once. Half the nation wide union employees, gone. Most of us never got called back. It took us over a decade to recover.

I "rent" DVDs from the library. We have no cable & very spotty Internet in our area so no streaming services. We are literally a dvd watching family & have nothing else. We made that sacrifice when we started our homesteading journey 10+ years ago. I love it... I also might literally just be a freak but I'd rather be outside in my gardens ... 💜

What is true is that CEOs now make 100s to 1000s of times more than employees. The decline of the middle class began with the Reagan Administration's policies in the 1980s.

I get these calls once a year from a law firm about a civil complaint filed against me, but can't give me a name. They tell me the files are sealed for my protection and there will be someone to deliver it to me in a half hour. I tell them to have me served by a license server. Not directly from a law firm. The tell me if I don't take the envelope they can prosecute without me being there which of course is bullshit. They follow up with professional agency recordings....but you have to be served if the judge is going to hear it.

My Schwans depot, in east central Illinois , just closed. Schwans delivers their brand of frozen food to your home. Some rather unique items. Better than typical grocery store items. It's good stuff. Schwans did great during Covid lock down. What the heck! My delivery person has been serving me for over 15 years.

the way WARN actually works is they lay you off but give you 60 days pay (keep you employed but your not allowed into the office). cause they dont want you working after you know your job is going to end

Dan it looks like you're on the island of Cozumel. I started scuba diving in 1984 all the way through 2000 and had to quit because of health problems. I loved it the first 10 years there was awesome. Everything was cheap and you could go anywhere on land and scuba dive in the lagoons which were like fish aquariums. thank you for putting these updates I think these next two years are going to be crazy. so I'm going to get the popcorn out and watch the Big Show.

Businesses using local, onsite LAN or whatever, connecting computers, locally installed apps from hard disks, data saved to hard drives and external, local drives offered security and accountability. In the 90's, BGates wanted everyone hobbled with *_online_* apps, removing security and control over all your information, but with _"user fees"_ and _"terms"_ despite the lack ownership and control. It's been more and more of a *_"train wreck"_* ever since. Accountability - kaput. Loss of data or hacked daily. Pretty stupid.

Was a yellow freight driver that got laid off when it closed they never gave us the 60 day notice. They are being sued by teamsters. They asked the court to throw out the warn act failure to notify. They screwed 30,000 teamsters they I’ve me 14k and I have documents. Guy say we will never see the $. I don’t believe we ever will

20 years ago I worked for a company that laid us off with no notice, just normal/average paychecks for that pay period. We filed a Class action suit for that, but the company's bankruptcy lawyers just said to file a claim in bankruptcy court (Chapter 11, or-org).

The problem with people going job to job is they may have been half way good at their old job then when they take a new job they are totally worthless for at least the first 6 months because they dont know what they are doing because they are new. It's not good to disrupt what is already going.

Hi Dan! Going to the movies was something I once loved for a good story script along with the super surround sound. But now? I hate going to the movies. It's all garbage - no morals, full of futuristic fear mongering, sex and violence junk. Who wants to watch that stuff? Not me. I have DVD player and watch older movies that were made well without all the 'R' and futuristic stuff. Our minds are sensitive and I think it's very important to guard what we see and hear. Bad stuff tears at our spirit and soul. I'm a babyboomer and very sensitive. I didn't watch R movies growing up and as a young adult, and also didn't subject my kids to watch them. Mexico's a NAFTA country, no new tariffs. GM, Ford, Chrysler, and a lot of foreign car companies make vehicles down there, so all those would have to be 'tariff'd' too.

Godzilla Minus One. Great action movie. I think its available on Netflix. Japanese movie so no 'woke' Hollywood crap, just a great 2-hours of real entertaining moviemaking. I'd suggest the regular format, not the IMAX version (it looked washed out).

UPS is closing a distribution center in Maryland. They are laying off over 540 employees. In March tney let go 111 employees.

When everything gets expensive, people get in a buying frenzy, the rich dont spend a penny, until the economy crashes, then the rich buy everything dirt cheap. Nothing in my town was built for 14 years. The new car lots are going broke, but despite people seeing the car lots all going broke, these same people are building restaurants & homes like crazy. So watch many banks, builders, & building supply companies go broke. Many land owners who sold this property to these people, invested back into these bad businesses. Many rich people invested back into these properties as partners will go broke. Once these people cant pay for the property, the banks sell the property cheaper to someone else. But when these restaurants go broke, they will never resell, because no one wants to be in a restaurant business anymore, the restaurants cant be converted to apartments, neither can mall, or factories. So the towns that build most of this stuff will turn into ghost towns. These towns will turn into ghost towns, because people wont have money to spend on this: college towns, entertainment towns, shopping towns where people have to travel far, doctor towns, & factory towns. Knoxville, Tennessee banks went broke in worlds fair, that the banks circulated less money around Knoxville, made Knoxville never recover over 40 years later.

i remember when streaming first took off there was an agreement that it would be theatre first, then dvd sales next then streaming last but streaming revenue was too good for the companies they tossed that and yea dvd rentals have gone down. I still buy blu rays cause i like to own my media. you can copy the disk to computer and have your own personal netflix but i also recognize the convience factor and that most people dont rewatch stuff as much as they did in the past. hell back in 2005 it was basically the mummy summer. i remember seeing that show up on cable so often lol. but now a days companies rather push new stuff continually. of course just cause you have more options doesnt mean its better. how many people can tell you what movies were about except maybe a few big ones like barbie and oppenheimer. things dont stand out as much no more.
