Jake: I did like the beat and rap. Good job by you! I just recently measured each of my irrigation zones outputs and tweaked my runtime to lay down 1/2". I'm also getting away from the daily watering, although I have done some hand held syringing of my park strip (late afternoon) on 90+ days. 😀

Diggin the intro- yo! Good video jake. I just bought a timer with 4 hose outlet stations for when we're on vacation and set it for Sun, Tue, Thurs. Good to know I was on the right track...😁 Have you looked into timers at all?? That'd be a good video topic for ya! I wasn't aware how many options for us that don't have irrigation systems had. The B-hyve timer is wifi and you can start/stop your water with your phone from anywhere.

It’s been raining down here in southern Louisiana for about 3 weeks straight! Only thing I need right now is FUNDICIDES and that big ball of GOODNESS in the sky! A good point to make is you should follow the weather. If there’s a 50-60% of rain on the day I’m supposed to water I usually don’t run my irrigation. And 9 out of 10 times it rains that day!

Great advice! I water M, W, F on the front yard and Tuesday Thursday on the back. I only do the back 2×/week but closer to 3/4" every time. Has worked fine for me. When are you going to bring back lawn fires?

Two things. Make sure the room has a lot of things in there to bounce sound, such as furniture. Acoustic blankets help too. Also, keep the mic about a fist full from your mouth and you'll get clean audio.

Great intro. In my lawn KBG, 0,5 inch each watering (day in day out) but in the upper 90° I have dead grass caused by heat. Its ok to Water in the off days just to reduce soil and grass temp?

I water M, W and F in the morning. On extreme hot days I give the grass a quick watering at sunset for a cool down. Thoughts?

I would say you probably want to give that quick “cool down” watering earlier in the afternoon (2:00-3:00pm), so that the grass blades can dry before nighttime. Watering at sunset may start a fungus problem eventually.

Jake I have beach sand as soil that I’m trying to grow grass (KBG) on. It seems to me that I have to water every day. Can you give me any advice for what to do with beach sand as soil? And I live in Michigan it that helps. Thanks

Cool into bro. Jake does this watering apply also to cool season lawn when every day in the week is 85 to 90 degrees? I water in late noon like 5pm on when I get home from work. I leave my house at 5:30 am. Thanks

Jake, what about when u have days when u get a storm of rain? Adjust for that? Maybe not water on rain day then skip a day, then water next day?

Depending on how heavy the rain is, I would compensate by skipping a day. It all depends on how much and when.

What do you recommend if you are on a well and cannot water continuously / long enough at once to put down 1/2" of water per zone? What do you recommend?

Enough per zone 3-4 times a week depending on the severity.

@@JakeTheLawnKid I don't know yet. My irrigation system is being installed next week. Say I water for 15 minutes then pause for 30 minutes then water again for 15 minutes. Do you see any issue with that as long as a total of 1/2" of water is being put down per zone?

Travis Alexander If you have clay soil, that pause between watering would be great. Clay soils can only absorb from 0.01 to 0.1” per hour. Anything more than that and it runs off. I have clay and I have my stations repeat 3x per watering day, about two hours apart. I do that only when needed, which will probably be every 4-5 days as we reach peak summer heat. I’ve cored my yard and that of my neighbor. My grass roots go past the 8” core. My neighbor who runs his sprinkler for 15 min every other day has only about 2” of root mass below the thatch and his yard gets heat stressed.
