Proper Ways to Nail Asphalt Roof Shingles in Denver, CO 

Most reputable shinglers in my area put 2 nails within 3 in of each other by the seem end and start the other 4 nails 1ft in so there is 6in in either direction of the seem

Yes. the manufacturer prints a diagram of proper installation practice and Florida standards on every bundle of shingles. Sadly most roofing contractors don't bother with instructions or proper installation practice. If you haven't gotten your roof done yet, take a look at the back of the bundle you'll see the diagram I'm talking about. If you see them not following the rules, throw them off the job. They voided the warranty on the product so throw em out and don't pay.

You mean at 0:40? The bottom corner of a shingle cant be within 3" of a nail? He was about 1 inch, right? That subject the nail to possible moisture, rusting and then a leak?

Do you remove the long plastic strip from the adhesive before installing the shingle?

Lol this is supposed to be an informative video and the guys installing are nailing right in the key-way/ seam. Sure they're hitting the line, and they may not have blow offs, but there's a good chance of a leak because of the water that will run over that second nail and rust it out. The hand nailers should have their first and last nail 1-1.5 inches from the end, not 2-3" from the end like they were doing... Good points on hitting the double line, but poor nail placement.

Nails were not in the right place on the laminate install, watching the the guy in the beginning of the clip installing the laminate shingles had nails in the keyway of the shingle row above, The butt of the shingle above cannot fall within 3" of a nail. Poor video, poor roofing.
