Hey DanG, I think even if you used this particular model from Osprey for handcarry, you can get a better one for that much money. Also, the area where the backstraps are held, I wish Osprey has something on it, that allows those straps to` be lock as that area can hold more items. The zippers on the smaller compartment on top, are not lockable so if you check it in, don't put anything valuable in there. And my biggest complain is, that big hole on top, where the handle is located, I am afraid the hole is big enough for any insects to crawl in, especially if you go camping with it. IMHO, I won't recommend it to anyone.
Hello, I was wondering, since I am traveling with an airline with a 20 cm limit for the 3rd dimension of the bag, would you say it's possible to squeeze it that much? It's advertised as 23 cm depth and seeing the bag makes me feel like the bottom part (which I presume is solid as a whole) might be a problem.
I measured the bottom portion of this backpack, just now and it is a tad over 9 inches, around 23cm, like you said. Bottom is solid and it cannot be squuezed to make it thinner. I hope that answers your question.
